anyone know of any homemade float tubes where you could just throw it out and forget it ..until you check it?? I was thinking a gallon milk jug painted orange..maybe wrap it with some cord with a swivel on the end with a heavy enough weight to unroll it after you throw it out, plus have a line anchored to shore..that way I could consentrate on my drinking and looking out for game wardens easier..

I got caught one time when I was a kid..we where fishing this little pond off the highway and this game warden pulls up and ask us for are license..i told him I was just casting my line in the water....and he said he was watching us for an hour about 500 yards away with binoculars... well anyhow to make a long story short...when I reeled in my line there was cornels of corn on my hook..he said something about casting with corn on a hook... 90 dollars later..and I still vouch to this day, that I was just casting into the pond..
them where the good ole days.. 3.) crookedeye - 03/16/2014

Laundry detergent bottle work okay if you don't need them to spin to drop line or tip up 100% reliably when a fish takes the bait, especially if you're also willing to spool the line separately. They're tough and will withstand cracking because they take the sun exposure better than a milk jug or a coke bottle. They'll also toss better. Keep a loop with a swivel or snap swivel on the handle, and spool your line on an old line spool. Hook up when you're ready to fish, wrapping extra line around the bottle if you need to. You can even tape it on the top side of the bottle (dry side) if you want. Let me know if you need some, LOL. I have about a bazillion of them. :wink You can use either the big kind or the smaller bottles.
Bleach bottles work too, but they're not as tough. They do have the advantage of spinning better, though, especially the little ones that don't have a handle. You can also wrap your line around them (the small ones) without needing a separate spool, (or at least Clorox has a bottle shape that allows that). You can also buy or make tubes out of PVC and flotation foam. They're more compact but sometimes harder to spot. No worse than small, no-handle Clorox bottles, though. If you're night fishing, reflective tape is your friend. If I were fishing from shore and needed the bottle to drop line on its own plus needed a retrieve line, I'd use the small Clorox bottles or some pvc. Of course, none of this advice is for use in Nebraska. 6.) NEBigAl - 03/18/2014
Isnt it illegal to have a free floating line in Ne? Thought I remembered that from somewhere...
Im kinda dumb though 7.) Swamp Fox - 03/18/2014
Jug fishing is illegal in Nebraska, as far as I know, which is why I added my little disclaimer. :wink
You should go over and bang on Crookedeye's door to see if he's okay...Maybe bring him some chicken soup...Everyone's waiting for him to get back on here in the evenings before they start posting again. This wussy weekends-only stuff isn't cutting it... :tap: 8.) crookedeye - 03/31/2014
