:tu:
3.) Swamp Fox - 02/09/2014
Excellent!
4.) Floyd - 02/09/2014
Good job getting the license to carry.
Now get him shooting more to put one big hole in the middle. It will put a big teethy smile on his face. Again, congrats to your son. 5.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
is that with a shotgun?
6.) Floyd - 02/09/2014
is that with a shotgun?
I'm sorry, I had to chuckle. 7.) DParker - 02/09/2014
is that with a shotgun?
No, it's 50 rounds from a 4" barreled pistol, using cheap range ammo, at 3 different distances, under time and command pressure, by a college kid who was nervous from the get-go. It's also a better result than most CHL testers turn in under those conditions, and good enough for the highest possible score. 8.) Floyd - 02/09/2014
Whoa, I think CE was kidding. I'm sure he's as congratulatory as the rest of us.
9.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
yeah calm down...youre like an old woman...lol,,
10.) Floyd - 02/09/2014
yeah calm down...youre like an old woman...lol,,
Whoa CE, he's a proud father and rightfully so. Good shooting none the less. Even if it was a shotgun, you put a turkey head silhouette on that target and you're having dinner. 11.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
ok everybody just calm down!!!
12.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
that reminds me I need to make some type of turkey thread..
13.) Floyd - 02/09/2014
that reminds me I need to make some type of turkey thread..
And a NASCAR thread. You are getting slow and old my friend. Shake a leg....... Aren't you running the Turkey Contest this year? I'm pretty sure you are. I know you are running the NASCAR contest. Now get going. I think there's been a total lack of interest in the deer contest. To gin up discussions on Hunting Country, you think Swampy would have focused some of his efforts there. IDK 14.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
i'll be running the nascar thread.. Obh is always good at running the turkey hunting contest..
15.) DParker - 02/09/2014
You calm down. I just pointed out that it was a good test result. I didn't get pissy with you.
16.) Floyd - 02/09/2014
Okay, I'll pick dale jr, joey, jimmie, matt and dana.
17.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
Okay, I'll pick dale jr, joey, jimmie, matt and dana.
not so fast sparky....this contest will be done in an ordely fashion...like I always do.. two weeks from now.. 18.) Floyd - 02/09/2014
You're all piss and vinegar this morning PAL.
Daytona is two weeks from now. Couple of shoot outs before that...lugnut. If you can't handle it, I can get some else. Make it next weekend before the shoot outs. 19.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
next weekend it is..
20.) billy b - 02/09/2014
I'm a Tony man this year.
21.) crookedeye - 02/09/2014
I bet you are...
22.) Bob Peck - 02/09/2014
Several shots were hole-within-a-hole. Very nice shooting. Clearly, he understands center mass.
23.) DParker - 02/10/2014
Thanks Bob. It was a good confidence boost for him, which I think he'll benefit from as he practices more (another reason I'm glad I reload, as keeping even one of us in practice ammo is difficult enough these days). He's always been his own harshest critic and gets easily frustrated with himself when he has rounds go a little wild on him, which of course just makes it worse. But I think he'll relax now that he's been given some concrete positive feedback from someone besides me.
I got to thinking (after a heavy-handed rum and Coke, a combination I haven't had in probably 20+ years) that if it were practical to do (it's not, so this is purely an academic exercise) I would change the qualifier scoring so that it was weighted according to distance. This would require a fresh paper target at each change in distance (the impractical part with a significant number of shooters) so that it could be determined which shots hit where at what range. Since the reduction in the angle shots must be kept within is directly proportional to the increase in distance the increase in point value for "on target" shots would be weighted according to that proportionality. All "on target" hits (those inside the 8 ring or better) would be worth 3, 7 and 15 points at each corresponding yardage from the target. Hits outside of that zone would score 0 (zero points). 15 rounds would be fired at each distance for a total possible score of 375. I think this would yield a much more meaningful assessment of shooting ability in the vast majority of cases compared with the current TX CHL course of fire and scoring system: http://www.texasbestchl.com/range_qual.html But maybe that's just the rum talking. 24.) luv2bowhunt - 02/10/2014
That's just like you to complicate a perfectly good hobby. :wink Good shooting to your son, lay off the rum and Cokes for yourself.
Projectile through the ribcage, that's what its all about. Not the hokey pokey as was previously reported. 25.) Swamp Fox - 02/10/2014

Aaaahr! :tu:
Projectile through the ribcage, that's what its all about. Not the hokey pokey as was previously reported.
LOL 26.) bluecat - 02/10/2014
I knew it was from a man the second I saw it. All the women qualifiers have the groin shot out of their targets.
Good shooting to DP jr. |
