Okay, what did you guys gather up that was exactly what it was cracked up to be?
Sights? Rests? Bows? Gadgets? For me, EVERCALM deer herd in a stick...I had heard about it, gave it a whirl last year and when I finally did see deer, they had no clue I was there. Many came from down wind... I didn't change up too much past that. 2.) hoyt_em - 03/06/2013
Someone else can start the sack of crap item thread. :jd:
Hahaha I never believed that untill I went to Africa and saw it in person there. It worked great but hard to to when you are spot and stalk hunting so I haven't tried it on American animals. 4.) luv2bowhunt - 03/06/2013
For me it was a Moultrie picture viewer for my scouting cams. So handy now to check pics out instantly, can delete them, save them, put the card back in and go. Don't know why I didn't do this sooner. In the backwoods it sure beats waiting till I get back home to find out whether or not I should move my stand.
Also really liked the new Bushnell Trophy Cam HD. The videos are amazing and long battery life when you are just taking pics. I bought a bracket that lets you mount it to the tree with complete swivel and pan ability. I take along 3 strap on steps and place it up in a tree about 10 ft or so, tilt it down at a trail crossing. With it's small size and a few leaves or pine branches, it it nearly unnoticeable to passersby. I had trouble finding it myself a couple times. 5.) Swamp Fox - 03/06/2013
I have the Cuddeback version of that and find it a little slow to use. Do you find the Moultrie to be quick and easy? How about the viewing screen? One thing I like about the Cuddeback is that it has the capability of downloading to a second card while you're making your milk run. So, take out old card from the camera, pop fresh one in, start download from old card to "home card" and move on to the next camera and repeat.
If the Moultrie is an improvement, it might convince me to cash in the Cuddeback, which I don't use a lot. 6.) bluecat - 03/06/2013
The "butt out" tool was...
wait for it... I saw ya peekin... all that it was cracked up to be. 7.) luv2bowhunt - 03/06/2013
I got the Moultrie through Amazon for I think 49.00. I went with it over the Cuddeback because it was cheaper.
You can put a big SD card in it, I think I have an 8g in it now, not sure. Anyway, I pop card out of camera, insert it in the reader, copy pics to the reader card, delete pics from the camera card, put 1g or 2g card back in the camera. As far as ease of use, I think when you put the camera card in it asks what you want to do with them, I click save and they all copy to the card. Then hit menu and pick delete all and it wipes the card clean. It is pretty straightforward, no bells and whistles but effective. 8.) OKY - 03/06/2013

Using them on a drag I had 8 different bucks come in in 2 sets. Anyone that has hunted Mass knows how hard it is to see a deer in the Western part of the state. 11.) luv2bowhunt - 03/06/2013
So the VS1 is worth the high cost? Because as expensive as it is, I want to make sure it's not a glorified version of Tinks 69.
12.) hoyt_em - 03/06/2013
I'm too cheap to be trying the VS1...

I was skeptical at first but after talking with the owner I decided to give it a whirl. Because it is encapsulated as it evaporates the phermones are released. It's not a bottled product. It was the best thing I've used since S&P. The nice thing about it is that it is much cheaper than other products when you look at how much you get. I used it very liberally on the scent drags and set up 4 wicked per set and I still have about 1/2 a stick left. 14.) luv2bowhunt - 03/06/2013
So this product lasts from season to season? It doesn't lose anything sitting around a year?
15.) MAARCHER - 03/06/2013
So this product lasts from season to season? It doesn't lose anything sitting around a year?
As long as you put the cover on and put it in a sealable bag it's ok. Keep it away from heat or sunlight. I will find out next season if it remains effective. If not I will just get another one. 16.) Ohbuckhunter - 03/06/2013

Scoutlook deer log. I use this daily during the hunting season. Easiest way to check the wind on everyone of my stands
21.) Parker - 03/06/2013
G5 Montecs :tu: I've been using the same 3 broadheads for the past 2 seasons and have shot 7 deer with them (4 of them with the same broadhead) Super easy to resharpen and are very accurate. Only downside I've noticed is that there is a very slight hissss when they're flying through the air. Hasn't spooked any deer yet for me :hb:

Oops! I replied immediately after seeing "Thermacell" and didn't even notice that you were referring to the foot warmers, and thought you were talking about the bug repeller. :-) 23.) Floyd - 03/06/2013

Haven't used the vs1 but have used the ever calm for years and have videos of deer hanging out and bedding down at the base of my tree!! My pickup was my Stan shootoff trio. Had heard great things about Stan releases and finally picked one up via release swap on the dark side. I love it!!

X2 Dave. I have it on my iPhone and have all my stands pegged on it. I look at it as soon as I get up to help me decide best set for the day. 27.) Leighton - 03/07/2013

28.) jbone - 10/19/2013
For me its been a good pair of binoculars. I picked up a pair of Leupold Wind River Cascades a couple of years ago and without a doubt it is one of my greatest investments. Theyre not necessarily the "best" binos out there but very clear, great in low light and its amazing how many more deer Ive seen sitting in a stand or on the ground than when I didnt use them. Some people dont care to look at deer that are too far to shoot, but I find that it makes a difference in where I sit and when, and how I approach my stand/blind. Many people get frustrated after not seeing deer when they go out but I almost always see something and rarely get bored. One other thing Ive noticed is Ive spent far less time on my phone and more time focusing on hunting. Not to mention watching other animals and birds when no deer are around. Amazing how one thing has completely changed many of my hunting experiences.
29.) Lonescout - 10/20/2013
I really like my Leopold vendetta. Kinda a pain to setup but once it is it's great. I range the deer and know what to shoot them for every time.
30.) Lonescout - 10/20/2013
Oh and the ever calm I've been using it for the past three years and love it. I'm thinking about trying the Vs1 this year.
31.) Go Bucks - 10/20/2013
Grabber warmers for hands feet etc. Nothing more miserable than freezing on stand.
Ditto on good binos 32.) Ventilator - 10/21/2013

LS, Evercalm is great, however, i would not even consider buying VS-1. Way over price and not very effective compared to the cost. Trophy blend estrus is much cheaper and smells the same side by side. Id go that route for the estrus scent. 33.) LCA - 10/21/2013

Do they sell it in liquid form like VS-1? 34.) Ventilator - 10/22/2013
No, trophy blend estrus is a stick like original vs-1.
They do have a liquid scent line, but i havent tried it. 35.) Tom-Wisconsin - 03/04/2014
Yep, binoculars are a very important piece of equipment.
