Damned yankees, putting beans in chili and shooting our game wardens. I've been hunting that unit for the past 8 years, and my son and I were out there this past Saturday and Tuesday mornings. Luckily we hunt a different part of the WMA that is mostly thick hardwood bottoms, and go out of our way to avoid areas that butt up against the adjacent private land parcels. Curiously, neither story mentions whether or not the officer was wearing his blaze orange (required in the Cooper WMA because squirrel/rabbit shotgun hunting runs concurrent with deer season, which is archery-only). Also interesting is the fact that he was shot at approximately 6:00pm, with official sunset having been 5:23pm on that evening (legal shooting ends exactly 30 minutes after sunset). I met the officer briefly one time a couple of years ago on opening day when he was spot-checking hunting licenses at the parking area near the entrance to the area I was hunting. Seemed like an OK guy. Fortunately it sounds like he's going to recover. 2.) Go Bucks - 01/03/2014
