...and after a month of completely ignoring my little pepper patch, which should be as dead as a door nail by now, it's green, lush and loaded with poblanos:
Ditto the ~25 sq. ft patch of sweet basil that popped up all by itself after I let last year's small planting go to seed after the last harvest: Now I'm off to pick all that basil and make a boat-load of pesto (with olive oil, pine nuts and big hunks of Parmigiano-Reggiano) before the first frost hits in a couple of days, and wonder if we're going to get cheated out of a real winter again this year. 2.) As it turns out, when I said I was going to pick "all" of that basil I was being a tad optimistic. I cut almost 1/4 of the plants and picked 1.5 lbs of leaves before my hands started cramping up. It's much slower and more tedious work than I anticipated. I'll probably end up giving half of the rest of it away.

the women always catered to food preperation and the growing of plants for eating purposes..while the men ...like me.... went out hunting for substaional food to survive the winters..
its all in the bible.. 9.) DParker - 11/10/2013

Since the last weekend in September. But I have yet to even see a deer yet. In my favorite area, where I've seen deer regularly every season for 8 years, I haven't even seen tracks or any other sign. It's been a very crappy season so far....and still far too warm. 14.) crookedeye - 11/10/2013
