The humor here, in addition to the stream of other B.S. spewed by the Chief (the AK-47 is a "sophisticated" and "highly accurate" rifle, and is somehow uniquely capable of penetrating body armor designed to repel nothing larger than pistol rounds) is that the rifle they displayed is a M1 Carbine, paratrooper model...U.S. Army issue during WWII. The magazine is for an AK, but the ammo appears to be a mix of some .223/5.56 and a lone pistol round (.38 Special HP, perhaps).

So we have a WWII U.S. Army relic that is cited as being "similar to an AK-47" (and labeled by most news agencied covering it as an actual AK), a magazine that doesn't work with that rifle and some loose ammo that doesn't work with either the rifle or the magazine. It's like they pulled some random items from the evidence locker, dropped it on the table and said, "Look at the military AK-47 arsenal this guy had!"
