So my neighbor brings over an antique bow to my house today and wants to know if I can back the draw weight down so that his 8 year old son can shoot it. The bow limb sticker says 70-80 pounds with a 32 inch draw length and 50% let off.
The riser was an old Magnesium riser with steel cables and a string that was so frayed I would not even attempt to draw the bow. The limb bolts are backed out as far as they could be. I told him that there was absolutely no way I could fix the bow so that he could use it and even if I could it would cost more for a new string than the whole bow was worth. He asked me how much the bow was worth and I politely told him it was worth about $5. He acted like I had slapped him in the face because he had bought the bow for $75 at a Garage sale. I told him he should have asked me before buying the bow and I would have gladly gone with him to look it over before he made the purchase! Now he is stuck with a $75 wall hanging piece of junk! |
