I just got off the phone with a helpful rep at TX Parks & Wildlife who assured me that none of the federally-owned lands in TX that are generally available for public hunting are impacted by the "shutdown" stupidity. I didn't think they would be, given that those lands are actually managed by TPWD (my 2 primary spots are on Army Corps of Engineers and Forest Service lands). But then again I never would have expected to see something this ridiculous either...

And no, I'm not trying to start a political discussion here. I'm only bringing this up so far as it (potentially) impacts public hunting.

There are entrance fees to some of these national parks. And with the shutdown, there will be no money coming in. The government is sticking it to themselves.


I heard this on Leno and it made me chuckle. The American people aren't worried about the government shutting down but rather they are worried about it starting back up.

I would have to laugh in the face of any ass clown that tried to ticket me for being on federal lands open to hunting during this period .....

We are going to a large walk in area West River in the AM to chase Muley's..... there are some intermingled BLM lands and if it some joker approaches me on his I'm sure to be retro actively paid vacation to try and piss in my Wheaties he will get a whole lot of freedom of speech shared :wink:tu:
