1.) Swamp Fox - 10/04/2013
Please note this is the 2013 contest thread. No more pictures should be entered in this thread at this point. Go to the current contest thread to post pictures and report your kill.
Alex, pls. make this a stickie if possible. Guys, use this thread to report your kills by providing picture proof. You can post pictures or tell the stories in other threads if you'd like, but to have your deer count for the contest the picture(s) must appear in this thread. It will make it much easier for everyone to follow the contest. If you post multiple pictures over time, make sure it is clear to DParker (Grand Pooobah for Contest Scoring) how many deer are involved to be counted and the preliminary scores. Pictures should include you, your bow or crossbow and your deer. The picture does not need to be time-stamped, but tell us the date of the kill. Pictures should be posted within 10 days of the kill. If you have killed already and want to report, that's okay, but going forward let's keep things current. If you can't get yourself in the picture for whatever reason, we won't cut off your left nut, but you will not be able to refute smack-talk about how ugly you are. Make your pics as good as possible, and do try to get in there with your bow, as it makes the pictures more interesting, if nothing else. For bucks, tell us the total number of contest-scorable points and the score you come up with. DParker will make the score official after reviewing the picture or working out any discrepancies. Enjoy the pics and the stories, and may the best team win! :wink 2.) Jon - 10/04/2013
I killed this one on Oct 2nd with the XBow. Shot was 27yds, recovery was less than 20yds. Video is also posted somewhere on here.

Now we're rollin'....  4.) Floyd - 10/04/2013
Congrats Jon on the first kill of the HC contest.
5.) Swamp Fox - 10/04/2013
Actually, AlbertaBowhunter probably got the first kill, a doe a couple of weeks ago. Forkie McRut also got one, but doesn't have a picture.
Assuming ABH sees this thread, he should post his kill pic here. We will count his kill for the contest. He posted his pic on another thread. Gentlemen, start your engines... 6.) DParker - 10/04/2013
Be sure to include antler point count for bucks to help make sure I don't miss one when doing my own count with the photo you've posted.
7.) Forkie McRut - 10/04/2013

Got this one on the 28th as well. Actually took a pic this time, but forgot the bow in the pic. DP, do flies count on the doe? She only laid there for 50mins after shot, but it was cool out and I think they were looking for heat. 8.) Floyd - 10/04/2013

Or are you telling me you counted the others even though they had not posted "Officially". Honestly I thought you was doing fine and keeping up with this small group of hunters. I know the shear number of daily post can be over whelming. But, I seem to follow along pretty good for not paying attention and all. Hey, I get it. I know I'm a little liberal when it comes to things like this and easy going, so please carry on. (Some where in there was a little Luv2ism) :-) 9.) bluecat - 10/04/2013

Give my team about 100 points Swampy, shot her Sat afternoon, she came by after a hail storm, she ran about 80 yards & died 5 feet from the Polaris. If the tailgate would have been down I think she might have self loaded. I'm pretty sure Floyd was successful on his hunt too.

Congratulations to you both billy and floyd... great deer!
53.) Floyd - 10/30/2013
I was sitting there hand feeding that poor doe and Billy Shot her. It was ugly. I was like, "DUDE!!" Billy was like, "Close your pie hole Floyd and help me toss her into the Polaris."

Team Four Scores One More.
Thought it was a smallish doe and turned out to be a button buck. He was feeding across a fenceline at 20 yards for 20 minutes. When he came under the fence I had him at 18 yards. He started to walk away and I began the draw. He stopped. And then the unthinkable happened. He turned and looked the opposite way! I was able to draw and settle the pin without hurry. He ran 25 yards and stopped and stood there and tried to figure out what just happened. Then he began to wobble and it was over. entry exit This is where my arrow ended up. I'll need to get my broadhead puller for this one. My wife was perplexed when I told her my arrow went into a tree. "How did you get the deer if your arrow went into a tree?" She is a project. 76.) OK, I want to enter this in the scoresheet, but I might be missing something. Looking at the 3 photos above I can only find 8 points over 1"; 5 on the right and 3 on the left (the G1 on the left looks shorter than 1"). Is there one hidden by the angles the photos were taken at? Or am I just blind? (A distinct possibility) 91.) XJCraver - 11/12/2013

I FINALLY shot a buck on the last day with 5 mins of shooting light left to go. This was after a 7 day hunt in which i missed a 150 class 9pt on day two at 40 yds. I figured it wasnt going to be this year. OK, here's how it went.I had a small 8pt and a button buck in the pasture next to the shelter belt. They stayed around the last hour of the evening. They worked away from me with 10 mins or so of light. I actually took a pic of the sunset and was about to call the game. I saw a deer coming x the pasture to the shelter belt ..I thought it was the same small 8 but I glassed him anyway. Once I saw how big he was, I went into kill mode. He walked slowly to me and I just waited. At 25 yds I drew and he took two more steps and stopped. Hit him perfect behind the right shoulder and got a pass thru. He went about 200 yds and piled up..amazing ending for me!! Points for team Swampster! 97.) DParker - 11/12/2013
Very nice. Is that G4 on the left > 1"? It looks like it to me, but I thought I'd ask. If so I count 10 pts, unless the right G2 is actually a G3 and there's a stubby G2 hidden due to the angle of the phot shot.
98.) Ventilator - 11/12/2013
The G4 on the left is 1" exactly and the one on the left is 1.25" . 10pts is correct sir.:tu:
99.) Parker - 11/12/2013
Nice deer Ventilator!
And yes sorry, mine is an 8 pointer! 100.) Ventilator - 11/12/2013

Back on the quad. I'm fat and lazy. If you remember I shoot a Hoyt. I can only carry it so far. I seen a stud a hour before I shot her. I was wishing I had my gun with me. 85 yards for what seemed like 30 mins. I'll have my slug gun the rest of the week forsure.
118.) Wild Bob - 12/04/2013
Nice! Good meat in the freezer.:tu:

128.) Hunter - 11/25/2016
129.) Hunter - 11/25/2016
Rifle kill. 225 yards but not great shot. He was a little quartering to and shot a little back. Doesn't take much wiggle and he is off to the races. Had to go back and get my dog. He ran about 200 yards through the thick. Had to get help to drag. 4yo, 145 lbs, tiny rack.
130.) bluecat - 11/25/2016
Sorry hunter, the 2013 contest is closed...
Tiny rack? 131.) Hunter - 11/25/2016
Well, dang phone. Can't read this small screen these days. It's hell getting old
132.) billy b - 11/26/2016
BTBH (JERRY) shot my buck this afternoon, earlier in Oct. I had him at 40 yards coming to me, a bobcat spooked him and that was the only time I saw I'm. He came in on Jerry @ 20 yards & he double lunged him, the big brute ran 200 yards before he gave up, 10 point, don't have the measurements yet but he's big.

Holy crap! That's a nice buck! Are you sure he didn't shoot that one in Kansas and then drag it back to Texas?
134.) billy b - 11/27/2016
Nope, West Texas deer, it weighted just over 220 live weight.
135.) Hunter - 11/27/2016
That's a big'un for sure! Congrats to Jerry
136.) Swamp Fox - 11/28/2016
Very nice, Hunter and BTBH!
