My Magic 8 Ball says Benghazi will be one of several things that will keep Hillary from running in 2016.
So that's the good news. The bad news is that someone else just as bad (or worse!) will run in her place. I'm rooting for Lois Lerner... 3.) DParker - 09/20/2013
I don't know. It should be, but....
HBO To Make Benghazi Movie The book this is going to be based on is pretty critical of the administration's handling of the incident, all the way from the mismanagament of the security setup to the response to the attack...and the attempted cover-ups after the fact. But it's HBO and Weintraub, so my money is on a movie with a spin that is not faithful to the book, serving the dual purpose of continuing the "phony scandal" narrative and preventing anyone else from producing a more accurate version. I could be wrong, and I hope I am. HBO and Weintraub could do something out of character (ie, be honest) with this one. But I'm not betting on it. 4.) Swamp Fox - 09/20/2013

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/04/29/charles-krauthammer-says-americans-now-have-the-smoking-document-in-benghazi-scandal/
Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer on Tuesday said the American people have the “smoking document” that proves the Obama administration took part in a cover up in the aftermath of the deadly Benghazi terrorist attacks. Judicial Watch has released newly declassified emails that suggest top-ranking Obama administration officials coordinated in 2012 to make it appear that the deadly attacks on the U.S. facilities in Libya were sparked by an “Internet video” and not “a broader failure or policy.” “It is in conflict with what we’ve been told, with what Jay Carney has been saying,” Krauthammer said of the revelations. “And that is, their story has always been this stuff call came from the CIA, from intelligence so it was completely clean.” Krauthammer noted that former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell testified that he had never brought up the video as a possible motivator for the Benghazi attacks. “We now have the smoking document, which is the White House saying: ‘We’re pushing the video because we don’t want to blame it on the failure of our policies,’” he added. “This undermines the whole narrative, therefore they have to invent the video. So I think this is extremely important.” Krauthammer predicted the mainstream media will once again fail to properly look into the latest developments in the Benghazi saga, which will make things very difficult to progress. 9.) I knew as soon as I saw that interview that it would make it to HC, LOL...
Here's a few pretty good nuggets from a blog I ran across: Well, FNC has been having fun playing and replaying the bizarre interview of the annoying Tommy Vietor, a former Obama national security spokesman, who protested being queried by exclaiming, "Dude! It was, like, 2 years ago!" Vietor's shocking response has been subjected to wide ridicule around the web; as we wrote yesterday, however, his comportment reflects a more disturbing underlying issue. Just what kind of character and background do you need to be a spokesman or official in the Obama administration, even as national security personnel? These people share certain qualities: •easily irritated •arrogance and a condescending attitude toward the public •tendencies to lie while claiming transparency •sycophantic cult-like loyalty •incompetence •campaign hacks elevated to positions of authority and enjoying every minute of their very temporary authority Let's look at State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki, whose performances regularly include irritation and verbal stumbling. Accused of being an incompetent campaign hack who lies on a regular basis, just to get out of situations that make her higher ups look bad, still, Leftists view her as quick-witted... Then there's Marie Harf, who frequently claims to be part of the most "transparent" administration ever. Her glasses set her apart from the Psaki bimbo, apparently. Harf embodies the overweening arrogance and condescension of this administration, irritated when questioned, and diminishing concerns over violence and possible terrorist activity. Incompetence? Of course. Harf is the person who claims "we can use whatever definition of transparency we want." What's important is what Obama's going around saying to everyone, not what the administration is actually doing... This POTUS is supposed to be the smartest (and most bored) man to ever hold office. Evidence of the man's intellectual rigor and eloquence can be found in the following video in which he demonizes those with whom he disagrees and accuses their policies of being a "stinkburger. Um, yeah. It sure looks like the arrogant little pricks running the country are emulating you know who. They've learned from the best. Or the worst, depending on your perspective. I guess anyone who appoints a tax cheat as head of Treasury really doesn't care about optics, competence or national security. She claims that she owned a 300+ employee "small business" in Oakland during the '70s, but I can't find hide nor hair of any description of what that alleged business was. Curiously, she didn't even get out of college until '75, which she attended as a single mother of two while on public assistance. Just a little Federal Minimum Wage math to lighten your afternoon....
The original Federal Minimum Wage, enacted in 1938, was $0.40/hr. Because of the war time inflation this was modified sharply upward in 1949 to $0.75/hr. Rather than allowing that wage to be pegged to annual inflation Congress has modified it eight other times according to other factors (rarely rational ones), each time increasing it to a level significantly higher than it would be if tied to annual inflation (anywhere from 13.6% more to as high as 88.5% more). So, if the original rate of $0.40/hr had been subsequently increased each year according to the annual national rate of inflation it would be $6.40/hr today, instead of the $7.25/hr that it is now (which took effect in 2009, when the inflation-driven wage would have been only $5.92/hr.) In fact, even had that last artificial wage hike been allowed to increase with inflation it would be $7.85/hr today. About half of most of the current calls for a national minimum wage of $15.00/hr (Lee's call for $26/hr in CA not withstanding.) As widely expected, House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) on Monday announced that Rep. Trey Gowdy will lead a newly-formed select committee to investigate the State Department's handling of the 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Libya.
"Trey Gowdy is as dogged, focused, and serious-minded as they come. His background as a federal prosecutor and his zeal for the truth make him the ideal person to lead this panel," Boehner said in a statement on Monday afternoon. "I know he shares my commitment to get to the bottom of this tragedy and will not tolerate any stonewalling from the Obama administration. I plan to ensure he and his committee have the strongest authority possible to root out all the facts. This is a big job, but Rep. Bret Baier is interviewing those guys at 10 tonight. He says that of the 30-40 big interviews he's done for the air (my number: I think he might have said 34 but I don't remember) this one is the most compelling. I think he's a darn good interviewer, so that's saying something.
It will be interesting to see if the Obama/Clinton apologists and the Benghazi deniers wake up at all as new information comes out. They've been saying not just "What does it matter?" but that all the questions are answered and that "there's nothing to see here" for quite a while, even in the face of information blatantly to the contrary. Reminds me of Elija Cummings declaring the IRS investigation "settled" (in 2013, I believe) and O telling us that there's "not a smidgeon of corruption." Former State Department official: Clinton camp destroyed Benghazi documents
In his account, Maxwell claims that allies of Hillary Clinton removed potentially damaging documents before handing over files to the Accountability Review Board investigating the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi. Maxwell, the former head of the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, told lawmakers an after hours session to separate documents took place over a weekend in a operations-type center at the State Department in Washington D.C. http://benswann.com/former-state-department-official-clinton-camp-destroyed-benghazi-documents/ Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) confirmed Maxwell’s story. Chaffetz stated that Maxwell told him and other lawmakers his sum of events last year when he was privately interviewed in the aftermath of the attacks. At that time, according to Chaffetz, Maxwell claimed that Clinton’s chief of staff and deputy chief of staff oversaw the alleged weekend. 46.) Swamp Fox - 09/16/2014
To be fair, I don't think that the charge is that the documents were destroyed. I've not seen that anywhere except in the headline to the story linked above. My guess is that the headline writer is jumping to conclusions. Why would anyone think that Clinton aides would destroy documents? Maybe they were just going to put them in a special binder.
Here are excerpts from the original story by Sharyl Attkisson*: ... In an interview Monday morning on Fox News, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, named the two Hillary Clinton confidants who allegedly were present: One was Cheryl Mills, Clinton’s chief of staff and a former White House counsel who defended President Bill Clinton during his impeachment trial. The other, Chaffetz said, was Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan, who previously worked on Hillary Clinton’s and then Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns. ... We contacted Mills and Sullivan to ask about the allegations and the purpose of the described separation of documents, but they did not return calls or emails. We reached out to Clinton, who declined an interview request and offered no comment. A State Department spokesman told us it would have been impossible for anybody outside the Accountability Review Board (ARB) to control the flow of information because the board cultivated so many sources. ... In May 2013, when critics questioned the ARB’s investigation as not thorough enough, co-chairmen Ambassador Thomas Pickering and Adm. Mike Mullen responded that “we had unfettered access to everyone and everything including all the documentation we needed.” Maxwell says when he heard that statement, he couldn’t help but wonder if the ARB—perhaps unknowingly—had received from his bureau a scrubbed set of documents with the most damaging material missing. ... Maxwell also criticizes the ARB as “anything but independent,” pointing to Mullen’s admission in congressional testimony that he called Mills to give her inside advice after the ARB interviewed a potential congressional witness. In an interview in September 2013, Pickering told me that he would not have done what Mullen did. But both co-chairmen strongly defend their probe as “fiercely independent.” Maxwell also criticizes the ARB for failing to interview key people at the White House, State Department and the CIA, including not only Clinton but Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides, who managed department resources in Libya; Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs Andrew Shapiro; and White House National Security Council Director for Libya Ben Fishman. “The ARB inquiry was, at best, a shoddily executed attempt at damage control, both in Foggy Bottom and on Capitol Hill,” Maxwell says. He views the after-hours operation he witnessed in the State Department basement as “an exercise in misdirection.” .... Several weeks after he was placed on leave with no formal accusations, Maxwell made an appointment to address his status with a State Department ombudsman. “She told me, ‘You are taking this all too personally, Raymond. It is not about you,’ ” Maxwell recalls. “I told her that ‘My name is on TV and I’m on administrative leave, it seems like it’s about me.’ Then she said, ‘You’re not harmed, you’re still getting paid. Don’t watch TV. Take your wife on a cruise. It’s not about you; it’s about Hillary and 2016.’ ” ... The whole story is here: http://dailysignal.com/2014/09/15/benghazi-bombshell-clinton-state-department-official-reveals-alleged-details-document-review/ *Sharyl Attkisson is a veteran investigative reporter. It is and was illegal. She should be using the government's email system for government business. I didn't know about Bush's situation, but wrong is wrong.
Actually, it isnt illegal. It's improper. Dont let your emotions rule your response. According to the law any personal email that contains official business info is supposed to be reviewed and released. That is what Jeb did. That's what I understand is now happening with Clinton. Neither did it until they were called on it. So my point it that right and wrong is the point. The inability for most people to apply the same emotional investment towards that starts and stops at the party line. :co: 58.) Swamp Fox - 03/05/2015
Jeb Bush's situation as it may or may not relate to Hillary actually was covered on Fox, possibly as early as the day before yesterday. My understanding is that his personal email account and server situation was public knowledge. He also maintained the expected government account. The idea that he used a private account and/or server to avoid public record-keeping laws is not seriously considered, to my knowledge.
The other problem with comparing Hillary to Jeb is that federal laws and state laws are not the same. This is to say nothing of the fact that issues and concerns surrounding a Secretary of State's dealings and correspondence are vastly different and more consequential than those involving a state governor's. Shall we also point out that to the extent that Jeb Bush has anyone at all alleging he is crooked, seedy, slippery, megalomaniacal, above the law, etc., such cries are DROWNED by Hillary's history and reputation? I can name a few classic Rodham-Clinton episodes off the top of my head, and I'm not sure I'd have fingers left over if you gave me more than a minute. We're talking about the poster girl for evasiveness and record-keeping problems right here. But to move on, so to speak: Alex is correct to the extent that you could, as a federal employee, do some of your official business on private email as long as you maintained records properly. Once you begin messing with what the definition of "maintained" is (See what I did there?) then you're starting to step in it. Since 2013, though, the rules got much tighter, with requirements--previously "guidelines" not taken very seriously--enhanced and added. If you are doing anything on a personal account after 2013, there are certain steps to be taken and disclosures made within a certain number of days, blah, blah, blah. Consider that Hillary did ALL her business on a private account before and after 2013, did not even have a dot gov account, and the State Department had to ask her for their records back after she left. She did not turn over her records until then. We assume State did not have them elsewhere, or there would be no need to request them from her. This seems to indicate she did not comply with storage, maintenance and disclosure requirements, at a minimum. That's a lot to consider. Not only was Hillary improper, she was plainly evasive of the federal record-keeping laws. That on its own (evasion) could put her in the pokey, if we had an Attorney General so inclined. But here's the good news: Now we know where to look for government records ---Who woulda thunk it wasn't at the government?--- so there should be no problem complying with the backlog of Freedom of Information Act requests and congressional inquiries, right? 59.) Swamp Fox - 03/05/2015
Clarification:
At some point I got the idea that the 2013 reg had something technical to do with this (duplication and reporting), but I'm not sure that this is the case since Hillary resigned so early in 2013. I'll leave that up to the people who know the exact effective date of the regulation. More important is that even pre-2013 rules and laws required maintenance, preservation, storage and accessibility practices which Hillary clearly did not follow. The 2013 regulation did not eliminate or relax any of those requirements, but added some. Hillary has turned over some emails at the request of the State Department, which had to ask for them. We don't know what has not been turned over, or what has been disappeared, to the extent that such a thing can be done on a private server. For the ins and outs: In 2009, after a Government Accountability Office report indicated that certain agencies had lax e-mail practices, the NARA [National Archives and Records Administration] adopted new regulations that provided that any emails created on private e-mail accounts must be preserved. But that regulation merely restated, in perhaps slightly different language, what the 1995 regulation had already mandated, requiring that “[a]gencies that allow employees to send and receive official electronic mail messages using a system not operated by the agency must ensure that Federal records sent or received on such systems are preserved in the appropriate agency recordkeeping system.” When Congress later, after Mrs. Clinton left office, enacted amendments to the Federal Records Act to prohibit private e-mail use where the official fails to preserve the records, it was merely addressing the process which the employee had to follow — by requiring the employee to copy or to forward the email to an official account within a 20 days – and providing the agency authority to discipline the employee (short of criminal sanctions) for failing to comply (see 44 U.S.C. 2911). In no way did the congressional enactment change the law, which has addressed the preservation of official e-mails from not-so-official accounts since the early days of e-mail in the federal government. More Hillary email addresses (I'm stealing these two from elsewhere): securityrequests@benghazi.com (Note: This is an unmonitored account) no-reply@3am.com In case there's still any doubt at this point: From Before It's News today, 3/6/15: State Department emails obtained by a government watchdog last week reveal that no one within the department, including former Secretary Hillary Clinton, ever attributed the Benghazi, Libya, terror attack as anything other than just that — a terror attack. The emails, obtained by Judicial Watch through a freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, show a lot of back-and-forth between security staff and Clinton aides as the attack unfolded in real time, as well as in its immediate aftermath. Never does anyone mention anything about a YouTube video in those exchanges. But, only hours after the attack began, they do mention al-Sharia, Al-Qaida’s Libyan affiliate, as the group claiming responsibility. Judicial Watch obtained the FOIA-requested emails earlier this month, followed by a Feb. 26 report on its website that explains how the new information bolsters its ongoing lawsuit against the State Department. According to Judicial Watch, the emails demonstrate that “top aides for then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, including her then-chief of staff Cheryl Mills, knew from the outset that the Benghazi mission compound was under attack by armed assailants tied to a terrorist group.” The documents make no reference to a spontaneous demonstration or Internet video, except in an official statement issued by Hillary Clinton. ... Although no internal conversation focused on an alternate motive for the attack — say, a grass-roots mob reaction to a blasphemous video — Clinton nevertheless followed the Obama administration’s evolving narrative by issuing a public statement crediting the now-infamous video clip with inspiring the attack. Despite her three top staff members being informed that a terrorist group had claimed credit for the attack, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, issued an official statement, also produced to Judicial Watch, claiming the assault may have been in “a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet.” http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2015/03/uncovered-emails-indicate-state-department-always-knew-benghazi-was-a-planned-attack-no-mention-of-youtube-video-3117994.html 72.) bluecat - 03/06/2015

She also said she only carried one phone (the whole convenience thing she made such a big deal about) but they have her confessing earlier that she carries two. She said she carries only one phone because she didn't want to have to carry two (one for each email account). She must not know you can have multiple email accounts on one phone. She said that the server was guarded by the secret service to prevent hacking. Um, that is not how hacking occurs. No email records exists for the entire time she went to Libya although she was seen with a phone during the trip. 89.) Swamp Fox - 03/11/2015
Well, "Sometimes you have to circumvent the bureaucracy."
LOL I know Howard Dean is unprincipled, a moron and a loon, but this is extra funny: “The State Department is a big bureaucracy,” Dean said. ”I understand why she did this. I don’t think it’s illegal. I have never heard a case it was illegal. Joe makes a case there were regulations, first I’ve heard of it. I am going to defend Hillary Clinton on this. You have to be able to do business, and sometimes you have to circumvent the bureaucracy.” “How about that regulation, that you’re walking in here saying you know nothing about. I think that’s ridiculous that you’re sitting in that chair pretending you’ve never seen or heard anything about this regulations,” said Scarborough. “Everybody in Washington D.C. is talking about it.” “Come on Howard!” said an equally incredulous Mika Brzezinski. Dean told co-host Willie Geist that Clinton may have used the personal email because the State Department’s email was “much more vulnerable” than her personal server. “Well, it may be that this whole thing is because she wanted security. It may be…to have the State Department being much more vulnerable to hacking than her ISP that she set up.” “It would be more vulnerable than her personal email?” Geist asked. “That’s right.” Dean said. “We don’t know.” “Um. Actually we do,” Brzezinski shot back. “What are you doing?!? What’s going on?!” “Are you saying that a State Department server in Washington D.C., my head hurts…might be more prone to being hacked than a Homebrew system in Chappaqua?” Scarborough asked Dean reiterated his belief that this is the case. D'ya think pant suit will crack before the convention?

Magic 8 Ball says she will not be the frontrunner at the convention, possibly because she won't be at the convention, but neither will she crack.
She doesn't have the innate, essential character---some would call it the moral fiber--to crack. You have to have a sense of shame (coming back to that again) to crack, and all Hillary has is an infinite sense of her self-worth and a lust for her own achievement. In reality, that turns out to be not so much achievement as a deep-sea sounding line for wealth accumulated, influence amassed and advanced, and air miles accrued. But that doesn't bother her. It's good to be the queen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fathom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_sounding It's all about her "convenience" as she said in the "press conference" about her emails. She'll play this off as "Move along, nothing to see here" just as she has everything else that inconveniences her ("What difference, at this point, does it make?") and she'll (mostly) get away with it--again-- (Paraphrasing here: "I have no idea how the law firm billing records wound up here in the White House just days after the statute of limitations expired") because the press doesn't want to be too press-y to someone with a uterus, at least not if it tilts left. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/arkansas/docs/recs.html http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/arkansas/docs/floorplan.html http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/female-infertility/multimedia/tipped-uterus/img-20008147 And the first lady, who had chosen not to release or summarize the billing records back in 1992 when they were readily available, now reacted as though she wished they could have been made public from the start. "I was delighted when these documents showed up. I want everybody to know everything because frankly there's a lot about this I don't remember. It happened 10, 11 years ago. I've done the best I can," she told Diane Rehm in the Jan. 15 interview. "There would be no reason for anyone I know, including myself, not to have wanted them to come out years ago," she told interviewer Harry Smith on the CBS Morning News on Jan. 19, adding: "Why on earth would I not want them out? I would have published them in the paper if I'd known." Why, if Hillary Clinton saw the records in 1992, as appears likely, would her position on their release change so clearly from then to this year? In 1992, publication of the records would have raised questions that might have sunk her husband's nascent presidential campaign. Some of his political advisers later acknowledged that a third area of controversy – involving money, following earlier ones about sex and war – would have proved fatal. It is the peculiar fate of the Clintons and Whitewater that the controversy has been around for two presidential election cycles. By 1996, the safer course for the White House became a posture of full disclosure. She doesn't get the same free pass that Bill or 0 get, but she does have plenty of people who will spin fairytales for her, and between Corruption Eruptions (her version of Bill's Bimbo Eruptions) she's unopposed if not outright held up by the press as the World's Most Accomplished Woman, Best Secretary of State Ever, etc., which is its own kind of support. So "protected" is probably the right word. She's not the only woman out there, though, LOL. Unfotunately, her gender seems to be her chief selling point. Don't expect the protective press to question whether that should be an issue, but if the Republicans were talking about wanting a woman or a black guy or ---Two Points!---a black woman to be president because of her sex and/or race, we'd quickly go deaf from the blast of Democrat outrage for thinking that way. I think that Dems in general are starting to see the problem(s) with Hillary (excepting the sychophants), and then there is the fact that she's not liberal enough for the far left wing of the Democratic Party, which seems to be driving the bus for the last few election cycles. So I think she'll get some competition if she decides to run, and I'll go out on a limb to predict it will be stiff. 101.) Deerminator - 03/13/2015

Archery is my favorite sport. President bashing is not my favorite sport but it's the American way. No matter who is our commander in chief we must tear them down. Presidents are responsible for all that is perceived wrong and conversely get no credit for anything that they are perceived to have done right. I don't understand why anyone would ever want to be president. One thing is always true. Someone elects the president into office and in some cases not once, but twice. This is also the American way as are the various conspiracy theories on why/how elections turn a certain way. It's called democracy. It's messy, imperfect and IMO needs a makeover. P.S I didn't vote for Obama either time. Hilary bashing is not my favorite sport. I am not a Hilary fan. Those who know me would never characterize me as a Hilary fan even when she was my Senator. I never voted for her. I can't ever see a day when I would vote for her. I don't relish the thought of her as President but ... The two-party system pits one candidate who sucks against another candidate who sucks less with some carnival candidates thrown in for distraction. The carnival candidates either take votes from the ones who suck or are pretending they want the job to better publicize whatever it is they "stand" for. Regardless, the carnival candidates never stand any real chance of winning anything. Here's my point of view: 1. Americans don't care enough about Benghazi *or* the recent email scandal to pass on Hilary. Her brand is teflon and nothing sticks. Neither Benghazi or email flap is enough of a fact-based smoking gun. Both will continue to grind on until they sputter out and disappear off the radar. We can huff and puff and stamp our feet all we want but neither is going to blow Hilary's house down. 2. Without a smoking gun Hilary will run and she will win unless Republicans come up with somebody better than Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Rand Paul, etc.,etc. Hilary will be our next President. Her brand will carry her as it always has in the past. Do I like this? Do I want this? Not one little bit but not for the reasons you might suspect. Hilary as President means a minimum of another 4 years of whining, bashing, obstructionism from both parties and another 4 years of stalled and dysfunctional American gov't. 112.) bluecat - 03/17/2015

Bill Clinton started jogging near his home in Chappaqua.
But on each run he happened to jog past a hooker standing on the same street corner, day after day. With some apprehension he would brace himself as he approached her for what was most certainly to follow. "Fifty dollars!" she would cry out from the curb. "No, Five dollars!" fired back Clinton. This ritual between Bill and the hooker continued for days. He'd run by and she'd yell, "Fifty dollars!" And he'd yell at her,"Five dollars!" One day however, Hillary decided that she wanted to accompany her husband on his jog! As the jogging couple neared the problematic street corner, Bill realized the "pro" would bark her $50 offer and Hillary would wonder what he'd really been doing on all his past outings. He realized he should have a darn good explanation for the former Secretary of State. As they jogged into the turn that would take them past the corner, Bill became even more apprehensive than usual. Sure enough, there was the hooker! Bill tried to avoid the prostitute's eyes as she watched the pair jog past. LOL...Well, I was wrong about her not running. I thought it was common sense that someone who's a poor campaigner and has trouble relating to disinterested people and media alike-- with a track record of scandal, failure and zero accomplishments---would not run, particularly on the heels of the Obama disaster.
But it looks like the Dems have no one to put up in her place, whether willing or able. Not sure I've ever heard media criticism of the Dems elevating establishment candidates and promoting within a hierarchy, with resulting stagnation, the way you do about Republicans, ad nauseum. But here they are. Running for President again keeps Hillary's brand and influence alive, though, and boosts the price of those speaking fees and book deals up into the stratosphere. (Is there any doubt there will be at least one more book?) Whether she wins or loses, I don't think there's much chance that the Clintons will ever be dead broke again, so that should help Bill and Hill and all the rest of us sleep better. If she had decided not to run and just stayed home to bake cookies and be a grandma, though, I'm sure it would have been certain ruin. :wink 137.) bluecat - 04/14/2015
You watch, we'll evolve to the point that when someone's smart phone loses power we won't know how to get food.
I was in the grocery store yesterday looking for a date for the weekend and I was pushing one of the big buggies, since they're almost always out of the little bachelor-sized ones that are just right for hauling my beer, toilet paper, and a few products from the meat department. I think the store keeps the fleet understocked just to annoy me. So anyway, driving this monstrosity, I round this corner where the drug store shelves jut out toward the food shelves, and the gap between the two sets of shelves forms a corridor that normal people can operate as a two-lane across the breadth of the store. Well, right at the end of one set of shelves, with his own huge cart with two items in it, blocking not only travel along the corridor but also turns around the aisles, is this dopey goth kid with the ridiculous skinny jeans and the goofy canvas high-top Converse (or are they Keds?) and the hair dyed jet black, shaved on one side and draped down the other in a slant like a European heroin model. I think it was male, but it's hard to tell sometimes when both the jeans and the hairdo are effeminate and the body type is "toothpick" or "clove cigarette." I mean, Avril Lavigne and Orianthi looked kinda cute in canvas tennis shoes, but boys over the age of 12, say, just look like dorks in them, and then you put skinny jeans on them and a stupid haircut and there's no wonder these kids don't talk with anyone except digitally. So anyway, here's this special little snowflake at the end of the aisle, nose-down in his/her Iphone, leaning on his/her Titanic-sized buggy, oblivious to the world around him/her, much less the people he/she was obstructing. I stood at his/her 1 o'clock trying to make my turn for a good 20 or 30 seconds as other people worked around him/her. I finally decided it was a he because of the pimples and peach fuzz and the slightly more belligerant attitude he displayed when the passage of time and the wordless eye-rolling of passersby finally shamed him into looking up and getting out of the way. Some people just deserve a punch in the head, LOL. Unfortunately, he might be voting in two or three years, and it might not help. 148.) bluecat - 04/14/2015

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/wp/2015/04/13/10-totally-unplanned-stops-on-hillary-clintons-spontaneous-road-trip/
She’s not just running — she’s driving! Well, passenging. Politico reports: “While she has no planned pit stops on her road trip — which was her own idea — the candidate stopped by a gas station in Pennsylvania on Sunday. She later tweeted a picture of the stop, saying, “Road trip! Loaded the van & set off for IA. Met a great family when we stopped this afternoon. Many more to come. -H” That’s right. Hillary Clinton is taking a Spontaneous Totally Unplanned Road Trip. Nothing says “Hillary Clinton 2.0″ like “Spontaneous, Totally Unplanned Things That Revolve Around Real People (TM).” Chuck Todd praised the gesture, tweeting, “So hard in this new media age to do anything that looks spontaneous to political world. This Hillary road trip idea has done just that.” I can’t wait to see what the road trip includes. No copies of the following itinerary were provided to the media, because, again, this trip is Spontaneous Hillary 2.0. 10. Surprise picture with totally unprepared students who just happen to be painting a detailed American flag mural on a wall and may or may not feel spontaneously moved to sing and sign “God Bless America.” 9. Meet-and-greet at a rest-stop McDonald’s with 10 stunned locals. You can tell these locals were stunned because all of them are wearing pins that read “I Do Not Expect to Run Into Hillary Clinton Today.” 8. At exactly 11:43 a.m., a bluebird may just happen to land on Hillary Clinton’s shoulder. 7. A parade may or may not be going through town that just might need some kind of marshal to stand on the middle float or something. 6. Three-fourths of a string quartet might happen to be standing in front of a Pennsylvania filling station, needing someone who can play the viola part of “Nearer My God to Thee” — something it turns out that Hillary Clinton just might be able to do, flawlessly. 5. A small hopeful child, a farmer, an old man with a raven and two old women with spindles may or not all be encountered at exactly the points along the journey that would make most sense for the narrative. 4. Hillary Clinton may or may not encounter a crowd waving palm fronds and shouting “We Just Happen to Be Shouting Hosanna, Whether or Not Anyone Is Heading This Way” as she emerges from an Exxon just off the interstate. 3. Three proud Iowans may or may not be standing casually next to a stop sign practicing a choreographed dance that Hillary Clinton — in a sudden stroke of luck — might just be able to execute flawlessly. 2. A sword will just happen to be in a stone at an Iowa rest stop, waiting for someone to pull it out. 1. Hillary Clinton will have several normal relatable human interactions with real people that were not in any way planned or choreographed and will doubtless look great on Instagram! 151.) When I ask people to give me directions to a meeting or a store or something, I'd say a good 80% of the time they say, "Do you have GPS?" and I want to say, "Yeah I have two really good ones, but they're for hunting and fishing out in the middle of nowhere, not for finding your office with a street number on a named road when you can just tell me how to get there." :re::-) Speaking of hunting and fishing  :shh: :p, I was talking to a fishing guide a year or two ago and I happened to mention topo maps (submerged structure and underwater contours) and probably said something like I wish I could find a new copy for Lake X because my old one was getting ratty, or maybe I asked about one for Lake Y because I'd never seen one in 30 years of looking. On the other end of the phone, he laughed, and said, "No one uses paper maps anymore." Maybe it's almost literally true, but I've never seen a complete library of digital underwater topo maps on fishfinders or otherwise, so I'd stoop to using a paper map if it was the only kind I could get, or I didn't want to squint at a fishfinder screen all day. 152.) Clinton’s office insisted just two months ago that the only private email address used by the former secretary of state during her tenure was hdr22@clintonemail.com. In a 2015 letter to Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Clinton’s lawyer acknowledged that the HRod17 email address existed, but stated explicitly that it was “not an address that existed during Secretary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state.” The time stamps and content of the messages make clear that this statement was inaccurate, according to the Times report. http://dailycaller.com/2015/05/19/its-now-clear-the-stunning-negligence-that-led-up-to-chris-stevens-death-in-benghazi/
Two smoking guns hit the news streams this week: The U.S. indeed had a gun-running program pipelining Libyan weapons to Syrian rebels through a port in Benghazi; and at least some “intelligence” on action in Libya passed through not one, but at least two of Hillary Clinton’s “homebrew” email addresses. It’s Clinton’s reliance on her civilian email servers for seemingly classified communications (indeed, all Department of State communications), coupled with the real nature of the mission in Benghazi, that lay bare the negligence leading up to the attack that took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens and two former Navy SEALs. In the November following the attack, The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. mission in Benghazi was “at its heart, a CIA operation.” It turns out the CIA Annex that had its cover blown during the attack was more than likely the central hub of an international gun running operation. A source told Fox News two weeks after the attack that Stevens was in Benghazi meeting a Turkish diplomat to “negotiate a weapons transfer, in an effort to get SA-7 missiles out of the hands of violent extremists.” One hour after Stevens showed him the door, local Libyan guards “abandoned their posts” and the assault began. 173.) bluecat - 05/20/2015
Now this is funny. "War on woman"
Hillary Clinton Demands Equal Pay But Doesn’t Put Her Money Where Her Mouth Is Hillary Clinton has long positioned herself as a champion of equal pay for women. Ironically, new reports show that the former Secretary of State is, herself, part of the problem. During her time in the U.S. Senate, Clinton paid women in her office 72 cents for each dollar paid to men, according to a report by Washington Free Beacon. Analyzing data obtained from official Senate expenditure reports, Free Beacon concluded that the median annual salary for female staffers was $15,708.38 less than the median salary for men, between 2002 to 2008. From the article: Blumenthal's role in sending the near-monthly missives emerged when nearly 350 pages of emails about the 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi were publicly released last month. Fox News learned that Blumenthal's attorney handed over 60 emails, totaling nearly 180 pages. Those documents, though, were never made available by the State Department. It was unclear whether the State Department withheld them, or whether they were never provided by Hillary Clinton to the department for review. I bet Huma Abedin is puckering up right about now...... Who is going to take the fall over Clinton's server?
Hmmmm From "The Blaze" .....This brings up an interesting scenario. Of late, the pushback from Team Hillary is that any classified material on the server wasn’t sent or received by Hillary Clinton. For purposes of 18 USC 1924, that’s irrelevant; the server was put in place by Hillary Clinton, owned by her, and located in her house. If any classified material went through it, Hillary Clinton is as legally responsible for retaining it illegally as her aides would have been for transmitting it, and just the retention is a crime. But if Hillary didn’t send or receive it, who did? No wonder Huma’s lawyering up, although she might want to rethink the idea of keeping a former Clinton aide on the team. 204.) So, what it looks like is this, at this point: (I haven't heard anything new today because I haven't been listening...) CIA/NSA (etc. and presumably) sends Top Secret documents (geo-spacial whatchamacallits and all that) to State, and by the time they get to Hillary on her Blueberry, they've somehow lost their Top Secret label. Now, assuming nobody in the intelligence community is stupid enough to mishandle outgoing mail like that in the first place, the interesting activity is in a line between State and Hillary. Either somebody on Hillary's end got in-between, or somebody at State wanted to cover for Hillary's idiotic communication system and scrubbed it for them. Doesn't matter. Somebody's in deep doo-doo. 205.) Swamp Fox - 08/13/2015
I would hate for it to be Huma Abedin to take the fall...That would mean her poor child would be raised by Anthony Weiner (her husband), and that just doesn't seem fair or proportional punishment for Mom's poor choice in men and political patrons.

You have to wonder what the conversation is like around the breakfast table at the Clintons' humble abode:
Bill's sipping some green tea and nibbling on some turkey bacon, glancing at the news on TV as he prepares to head off to the cigar store. A story about Hillary comes on, and Bill turns to her and says, "Really, Hilll? Really?" Biting his lip, he then makes sure he has his pants on and his fly is zipped, and saunters out the door to begin his day... 208.) bluecat - 08/13/2015

Clintons Return White House Furniture
“We have been informed that it is being shipped back, and the National Park Service is ready to receive it, take possession of it and take custody of it,” Jim McDaniel, the National Park Service’s liaison to the White House, said Wednesday. “The property is being returned to government custody until such time that the issues can be resolved. It may well turn out that that property is rightly the personal property of the Clintons.” Giving Back After they were criticized for taking $190,000 worth of china, flatware, rugs, televisions, sofas and other gifts with them when they left, the Clintons announced last week that they would pay for $86,000 worth of gifts, or nearly half the amount. Their latest decision to send back $28,000 in gifts brings to $114,000 the value of items the Clintons have either decided to pay for or return. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=121856 Does this remind anyone of the Clampets? 244.) Swamp Fox - 08/24/2015
This is from a few years ago, correct?....It's possible they thought they needed the space for back-up servers and a lot of dust cloths...
Good thing all that stuff was on property guarded by the Secret Service, or Chinese and Russian hackers, escaped prison-mates, or just plain old American criminal couples could have made off with it... The Clampets were always honest, hard-working hillbillies who got lucky big-time with crude oil. Hill and Bill are oily and crude, always working honest people until we get lucky and they get hard time. 245.) bluecat - 08/24/2015
I heard about this years ago, the fact that they stole a bunch of stuff, but I heard the fact that they returned it on today's news. Considering Trump has had high praise for Hillary in the past and given her a bunch of money, is it too early to consider a Trump-Clinton ticket for a third party when their respective campaigns implode? What would a party led by the Donald and the Hildebeast be named? I was thinking "The Big Pants Party"...I bet Letterman would let them use that.... Other suggestions? By the way, have you noticed Trump doesn't say much negative or present much opposition directed at Hillary? At least not that I've noticed. Prefers to attack Republicans, it seems like, but maybe I've missed some throw-away lines. Makes you think. Is it fair to say Trump can get more out of a President Hillary than he can get out of a Republican? I think it's fair to say he and Jeb won't be going out for beers a lot. :re: 254.) Swamp Fox - 08/31/2015
I guess Letterman's company is Worldwide Pants (World Wide?) now that I think of it, so there shouldn't be a conflict. Although World Wide Pants goes pretty well with Hillary's "record of accomplishment" as the greatest Secretary of State ever. I guess Trump is global, as well, or at least his ego is...LOL
255.) bluecat - 08/31/2015
I did hear him say initially that she was the worst secretary of state we've ever had. But lately as you say, he is trying to destroy his Republican opponents. The exchange he's had with Megyn Kelly leaves me a bit baffled. He comes off as a 7th grade bully not mature enough to be President. But then he redeems himself by tossing Jorge Ramos from his Press Conference.
I'm surprised we haven't heard more from Ted Cruz. He might be laying back and waiting for the smoke to clear. Hildebeast...LOL Good one. 256.) Swamp Fox - 08/31/2015
I think Hildebeast has been around for a while...Pretty sure that got in my brain from somewhere else...But who knows...Maybe another subconscious stroke of genius on my part...LOL...They far outnumber the conscious strokes of genius on my part, by the way...:wink
I do recall that comment about SoS now that you mention it. I think both the Kelly and Ramos incidents were calculated, and aimed at appealing to different groups. He might as well ride the "we hate both parties" wave as long as he can. I'm sure going after a Fox host won him a ton of points with one batch of disgruntled citizens, and then it's nothing but net for a different group the way he handled Ramos (while at the same time gruntling the previously disgruntled Fans of Megyn/Fans of Fox crowd). A swish, a slam dunk and a three-pointer from way downtown all in two plays, you might say. The guy may be a genius, except for the no-substance thing...LOL I think Cruz is playing the long game and waiting for Trump to implode or step aside ("Aabadibadiba...That's all, folks!") and part of the strategy is not to alienate people who are attracted to Trump beforehand. I can believe that of him. Most of the others I think are just clueless as to what to do, gasping for oxygen as long as Trump stays on this roll. Jeb is starting to show a few signs of life, but I can't tell if everyone else is semi-comatose, cleverly lying in wait, or just drowned out by the Trump calliope. 257.) bluecat - 08/31/2015

(Union Street Market uses vendor bought sauce. (Here's a delicious cheese sauce recipe from The Kitchn.) - 3 ¾ ounces of shredded cheddar jack cheese - ½ teaspoon of spice red pepper, crushed. Method of Preparation Assembly: 1. In a large mixing bowl, mix gemelli, cheese sauce, chopped jalapenos, and 1 pound 3 ounces of roasted bacon crumbles. Mix well. 2. Pan spray vegalene into one or two half-sized pans. 3. Evenly divide the mac & cheese mixture into the pans. 4. Cover with parchment and foil. Time of service: 1. Bake in a 350 degree convection over covered for 30 minutes. 2. Uncover and spread the cheddar/jack/crushed red pepper cheese blend on top. 3. My money is on no email questions or pokes from the other candidates, and not very tough ones from the mods. Did you see the latest about how wide-open her server was, and the Siberian hacker? That was today, I think.
O'Malley might try to stir the pot, just because he's that kind of d-bag. Bernie's in la-la land and I think he'll stay on his own channel, communicating with the other space people for a while longer before he feels he has to engage Hillary directly. I don't see Webb going anywhere, but maybe he'll jab Hillary about support for the Iraq war or intervention in Libya. I soured on him a long time ago, when he bugged out on Iraq and the GWOT, but that's not to say he can't make a good point every now and then. I'm interested to hear more about the metric system from Lincoln Chaffee, not as an American, but as someone who is thinking about self-identifying as a South Sea Islander...It could come in handy. 293.) bluecat - 10/13/2015

I do think the only person who is likely to say something utterly stupid tonight, since Obama won't be there, is Hillary. (Aside from lousy policy proposals, wrong-headed ideas, misreadings of history, and lies, that is.) Something on the order of "I was for that [insert random liberal cause here] before it was cool" in inexplicable defiance of the evidence, is what I mean. Look for her to claim victory with the reset button. Dollar to a donut that comes up. I bet she's glad she was part of this leadership team: "In what way?...Steve, I gotta tell ya...My definition of leadership would be leading on climate change..." LMAO! That's brilliant. What's that in Webb's drink? Slice of ham or turkey?
:tu: I didn't watch, but caught some of the summaries. I think Hillary's "I didn't take a position on keystone until I took a position on it" while trying to explain away her flip-flops and naked pandering on left-wing pet positions qualifies as the stupid utterance I predicted, but I'll let you all decide. I may have missed something even better...LOL I am going to be investing in some taller rubber boots now, though. Listening to the crowd go BeatleMania over Comrade Bernie and Miss Congenialty up there is a stark reminder that it's piling up higher and deeper out there.... 300.) bluecat - 10/14/2015

303.) Swamp Fox - 10/14/2015
If I come across a highlight reel I can embed, I'll do it. There are a few video summaries out there but none obviously embeddable that I've come across yet.
I can't tell from what I've seen so far if she actually "went there" with the reset button, but she did say "we got a lot of things done with the Russians" or words to that effect at one point, and I presume that was in response to a question about relations up until or including the point when everyone (except Obama?) realized Putin was outmaneuvering us, i.e., the point when even the slow kids knew the "reset" was laughable. I have seen where she took a shot at Edward Snowden for jeopardizing intelligence information, which is quite rich, and which I'm sure will come back to haunt her, as will her statement that she's "been consistent all [her] life" which, had I been watching live, would have been the point where beer shot out my nose. The other big thing that I got a kick out of was when she said she "gave" or "volunteered" (or some such) her emails/documents etc. for examination after leaving the administration, as if she hadn't actually had them pried from her grasp by force of law after the House fell on her. The NY Times outed her, and the FBI opened an investigation, but of course it's a rightwing conspiracy. Yeah, she "welcomes" an examination of her records the way Brumhilda from Cellblock A at the women's prison welcomes a cavity search after Recreation Hour in the yard. That's another highlight to look for in the video. 304.) DParker - 10/14/2015

It's a thankless job, but....y'know. Just 7 years ago there wasn't a single craft brewery in the entire D/FW Metroplex. Today there are at least 15 that I know of (including one right here in my sleepy little 'burb) with several more scheduled to open before the year is up. A couple of months ago the wife and I resolved to visit one taproom every other weekend until we've tried them all. We've been to 4 so far and have yet to be disappointed. A few of the brews we've sampled have been swings-and-misses (mostly over-hopped IPAs that seem to have been trendy lately), but all of the others (some 30+) have quite enjoyable...with a few being downright delicious. You know, I really want to like Mark Giffords, and I've seen him say some pretty moderate things in the past, but at other times I'm reminded that just because you're an astronaut, it doesn't mean you're a rocket scientist.
But this might explain some of it: Humans are physiologically well-adapted to life on Earth. Consequently, spaceflight has many negative effects on the body.[1] Significant adverse effects of long-term weightlessness include muscle atrophy and deterioration of the skeleton (spaceflight osteopenia).[2] Other significant effects include a slowing of cardiovascular system functions, decreased production of red blood cells, balance disorders, eyesight disorders and a weakening of the immune system. Another winner. In spite of the "Hop Fest" moniker applied to their IPA there were no over-hopped brews in the line-up. All 10 varieties sampled had their own character and were quite tasty. Especially good were the "Sir William's English Brown Ale" and the "Night Watch Oatmeal Stout", with both offering, in different proportions, hints of coffee and chocolate flavors. These two will be favorites to accompany my chili (no beans!) when the weather cools a bit more. For warmer temps their Belgian-style "La Saison des Festivals" is an excellent choice (I'm really digging the Belgian dubbels and tripels everyone seems to be making now). 415.) billy b - 10/19/2015

I'm not overly optimistic, simply because the demeanor of the Dems on the committee has always been to cover her butt for her and to poo-poo the whole process, which should unite reps of both parties in an effort to find out what went wrong.
Instead, we have these prime examples: Elijah "Hammerhead" Cummings and Adam "Camera Weasel" Schiff. Somehow these minions feel that if they keep saying "Nothing to see here" it will eventually work out for them. And maybe they're not wrong. Dems in office and on the street don't seem to care that they're giving cover to and about to nominate a deceitful incompetent who believes she's above it all and that half the country is her enemy. There's a reason some call her "Nixon in a Pantsuit", and it ain't a compliment. The rotating R-then-D sequence of questioning/grandstanding will serve to soften blows that should damage her and bolster irrelevancies and falsehoods which prop her up. So I guess I would say that I'm hopeful some light gets thrown in the dark corners, but I'm not planning a party. 427.) DParker - 10/21/2015
As awesome a grilling performance as Gowdy always turns in...the sad fact is that to date, NONE of it has ever resulted in anything. Holder and Co. skated on Fast & Furious, no one has been held to account at the IRS and I predict the same regarding Benghazi.

I haven't seen anyone comment on Chris Matthews' awkward position in this exchange.
"I used to think there is a big difference. What do you think it is?" he asked again. "A Democrat like Hillary and a socialist like Bernie Sanders." Later in the interview, as he's letting up on the stranglehold he has on DWS, he says, "I think there's a big difference. I think there's a huge difference." I think that between those two statements---between when he USED TO think and then when he DOES think--Chris Matthews felt something run DOWN his leg, when it's possible he realized he had just asked the magic question that makes his team look REALLY bad. Next time, they make a diaper for that. As for DWS, I think she's enough of a dumb cluck that she really DOESN'T know what the difference between a democrat and a socialist is, and it's only slightly less (more?) surprising she's not sharp enough to give an answer that doesn't make all Big D Democrats look like lefty loons. 433.) bluecat - 10/21/2015

Gowdy Response to Latest Cummings Letter October 18, 2015 | Press Release Washington, DC—Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy today released the following letter in response to yet another Democrat missive that seeks to distort the majority’s investigative effort. He also released the redacted email in question so the American people could decide for themselves regarding concerns about sources and methods. The committee will continue to protect sensitive information related to this email. See below for text of letter: October 18, 2015 The Honorable Elijah E. Cummings Ranking Member The Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attacks in Benghazi U.S. House of Representatives Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Mr. Cummings: Thank you for your early Sunday morning letter. I appreciate the opportunity to respond. As you know our Committee is not investigating Secretary Clinton or allegations surrounding the handling of classified or otherwise protected information. Other entities may be investigating matters related thereto, but we are not. This is best evidenced by the fact our Committee has not issued a single subpoena related to her email arrangement or server or any aspect surrounding allegations of mishandling classified or otherwise protected information. Moreover, as you know out of the 54 interviews conducted by the Committee precisely one (1) has been related to her server and that interview - as you recall - was very short because the witness invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination. In fact, after the media - not our Committee, but the media - broke the news of her exclusive use of private email and her use of a personal server in early March of 2015, the next 21 witness interviews in a row had nothing to do with Clinton or her email. This hardly evidences your baseless allegations of a "pivot" toward the Secretary or her email. What broke that string of 21 interviews in a row unrelated to any aspect of her email was the June 16, 2015 deposition of Sidney Blumenthal, which is discussed below. What is relevant to our Committee's jurisdiction is the Secretary's reliance on Sidney Blumenthal for advice and counsel on matters, inter alia, related to Libya/Benghazi. The Committee is reviewing Mr. Blumenthal’s email with respect to these and other matters outlined in my October 7 letter in that regard. As such the nature of the information provided to the Secretary in this regard is highly relevant to better understand decisions made before and after the attacks (there is no evidence Sidney Blumenthal provided any counsel during the pendency of the attacks). As such our Committee is the first Committee to gain access to Secretary Clinton's emails, Sidney Blumenthal's emails and now Ambassador Stevens' emails. Accessing this information is indispensable if we are to do what the House of Representatives asked us to do which is write the final, definitive accounting of what happened before, during, and after the attacks in Benghazi. Contrary to your assertion, the CIA did not inform the Committee that anything about the facts stated in the October 7 letter “[was] wrong.” As usual, I would ask you to completely and accurately relate the facts rather than attempt to create an impression that is misleading based on an incomplete and selective recitation of the facts. In fact, my understanding is the CIA advised the Committee in a very brief email late Saturday night that it had reviewed the material in question and asked for no material to be redacted. In fact, the name of the alleged source was redacted from the material cleared for public release by someone in the Executive Branch – the fact that the CIA says it didn’t do it does not mean the material was not sensitive or classified. And in fact, additional information remains in the document that ordinarily would be considered highly sensitive. This appears to mean either Mr. Blumenthal conveyed false and unreliable information to Secretary Clinton about Libya and misrepresented it, or the review process is faulty or has been politicized. I also note the fact you did not quote the material in question in your letter, suggesting you yourself have reason to believe that it should not be publicly disclosed for some proper reason. These are important issues. I’m glad to know you also consider them important and worthy of detailed additional review by the Committee. Our Committee has access to career civil servants, former federal prosecutors, former intelligence experts as well as military experts who are uniquely well suited to gauge intelligence information and how it should be handled. Although the Executive Branch is ultimately responsible for classification, we remain concerned with the naming of sources and methods and will continue to protect that information now and going forward where it is readily apparent to us. As such, we will continue to redact certain information to protect sensitive information regardless of how others treat that information. Whether Secretary Clinton received protected information from Sidney Blumenthal or simply recklessly wrong information from Sidney Blumenthal is relevant at some level. What is most important is to protect information that can endanger others. As you will recall we had this same conversation when we received a letter from you we found troubling as it relates to the naming of certain assets. We did the responsible thing which was come to you, alert you to the issue, and allow for that information to be withdrawn and or otherwise not made public. So, our position is consistent. Sources and methods of intelligence are among the most closely guarded information our government has. We will continue to redact that information and treat it with the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity, and we would advise you to do the same. Sincerely, Trey Gowdy Chairman PS: I am envious of your staff's ability to get information from this administration in less than 45 minutes on a weekend. This is something the majority Members struggle to do on weekdays. Perhaps you would be willing to help us gain access to the information the Committee has been seeking from the administration for over half a year now. 438.) bluecat - 10/22/2015

Pompeo made the point around 3 PM about the Dems' performance at the hearing that I wanted to make.
I had to take a long break after the first hour or so. I probably missed some good stuff, but I'm hoping I get the highlights later. Hillary didn't help herself with what must have been five minutes of paper-shuffling instead of appearing to listen as Gowdy made his opening statement. If I went into a meeting and did that, I'd have my ass handed to me. And if I were running the meeting and someone else did it, it would be woe to the vanquished. :wink Just wasn't a good start for her, and highlighted, for me, her standard imperious attitude. Otherwise, from what I've caught, she doesn't appear to have done badly at all. Holding up in her own slippery way. 443.) bluecat - 10/22/2015

But let’s ignore that part of her answer for the moment. She was asked a direct question: Did she, or did she not, tell those family members that the Internet film was responsible for their loved ones’ deaths? She says she did not. This is the update mentioned at the bottom of the article covered by the first link:
UPDATE – Hmm, didn’t top Obama administration and Pentagon officials testify that there was no viable opportunity to send reinforcements to save our people under siege that night? So what “forces” are being referenced in this just-uncovered email sent from the Defense Department to the State Department during the attack, and why weren’t they deployed? Newly released emails show that a senior Defense Department official offered the State Department “forces that could move to Benghazi” immediately during the deadly 2012 attack there on the American consulate. Jeremy Bash, the former Pentagon chief of staff, offered to provide forces at 7:19 p.m. on the evening of the attack, “only hours after they had begun,” according to Judicial Watch, which disclosed the email on Tuesday. “We have identified the forces that could move to Benghazi. They are spinning up as we speak,” Bash wrote. Portions of the email remain redacted by the Obama administration…The newly disclosed email contradicts testimony to Congress by Obama administration officials who cited the inability to immediately provide forces in response to the attack. 469.) bluecat - 12/09/2015
Thanks for the update Swampy. The whole thing just makes me ill. The hell of it is, regardless of all this, she will escape unscathed.

Trey Gowdy Amused By Democrats on Committee
http://townhall.com/tipsheet/cortneyobrien/2016/06/07/gowdy-amused-by-benghazi-dems-response-to-final-committee-report-n2174454 Excerpt: House Benghazi Select Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) just about laughed out loud when he read that the committee’s Democrats wanted to have a say in the panel's final report on their 2-year investigation. This, after representatives like Elijah Cummings (D-MD) have criticized the committee for months as a political scam intended to jeopardize former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's White House chances. Now he suddenly wants to contribute to their last efforts? With this context, Gowdy responded with a letter of his own. “Your May 31st letter was mildly amusing but not altogether surprising,” Gowdy starts. "It is mildly amusing that after two years of abject obstruction, after two years of not lifting a finger to assist the Majority with the investigation, after two years of doing everything in your power to prevent a report from being written, you now want to participate in the drafting of the report." The chairman's letter takes an even more sarcastic turn when he starts to “refresh” the Democrats on how “helpful” they’ve been throughout the investigation. “[Y]ou have spent far more time writing letters, selectively leaking material, and spreading mischaracterizations than you have actually participating in this investigation,” he writes. I read it yesterday. It's pretty good. But although it promises significant "new information", and I thoroughly enjoy listening to Gowdy verbally disassemble Ds during committee hearings, for all of the great theater none of has ever resulted in anything of real consequence. So I remain skeptical (but hoping to be proven wrong). 491.) Swamp Fox - 06/08/2016

I hope Adam Schiff gets his own letter. If people don't know Adam Schiff, look in the dictionary under "weasel." 492.) bluecat - 06/08/2016

Took a break to watch the Benghazi Committee's press conference which ended a few minutes ago. Their final report is out today. (I think you can find it on line if you want--800 pages, or so.)
The press conference is worth catching on youtube or wherever you can find it. Be sure to catch Mike Pompeo bluntly answer a question about his opinion about Hillary (which is not part of the report). Trey Gowdy did his usual great job of cutting through the BS. Two highlights: see him answer a reporter's question echoing Dem narrative that no new information would be forthcoming. Let's just say the narrative will have to be rewritten. Second, his comments on Susan Rice "making stuff up." 494.) bluecat - 06/28/2016
Been listening to the reports coming in. I'll have to check out the press conference.

It's still up to the Justice Department. If you can read or listen to Comey's statement and NOT bring charges, you're making an exception for Hillary that lesser mortals would not get. I question Comey's assertion that a successful prosecution in Hillary's case would be low-odds. People go to the big house on much less than what they outlined that they have on her. The fact that he thinks it's a weak argument that some of this stuff was "intentional" is not only bizarre, but---to my understanding---irrelevant to whether or not charges should be brought, if we are following the law.
But that's a big if, these days. In any event, I look forward to the argument from Hillary's camp that she's been one of the best Secretaries of State in History, and is qualified to be President and entrusted with the security of the United States, after what Comey laid out. 507.) bluecat - 07/05/2016
Looks like it's all about intent. She didn't mean to do it, therefore, it is okay.
Nothing to see here, move along. :tap: 508.) Swamp Fox - 07/05/2016
Comey makes the case for gross negligence charges, then says it's not prosecutable, in the sense of "let's not bother."
Intent is not required by the relevant statute. You probably know that; I'm just venting. If somebody accused me of being "extremely careless" (I'd have to see the transcript to recall if Comey also used the word "reckless") I'd be 1) out of a job and unlikely to work again and 2) that's before the serious legal doo-doo hit the fan. Comey also puts the lie to Hill's statement that she never sent or received information that was marked classified on her private system. So, that should help Americans make up their minds about her in November. :re: 509.) DParker - 07/05/2016
Looks like she is gonna walk.
Was there ever any doubt?
It's still up to the Justice Department.
:::nudge:::nudge:::wink:::wink::: You have a better chance of being eaten by a school of piranhas in your own bathtub than Hillary does of being indicted by the Obama admin DoJ. What needs to be hammered home by the few media outlets that would be willing to do so is that, at the absolute best, she lied her arse off about nearly every aspect of the case, exercised EXTREMELY poor judgement and was unforgivably careless when handling classified materials (up to and including those she knew to be top secret), exposing them to access by hostile powers....and surrounded herself with equally inept and careless people. And that's the best that can be said about what Comey was willing to reveal. 510.) Swamp Fox - 07/05/2016
