One new policy will end a government practice that lets military weapons, sold or donated by the U.S. to allies, be reimported into the U.S. by private entities, where some may end up on the streets. The White House said the U.S. has approved 250,000 of those guns to be reimported since 2005; under the new policy, only museums and a few other entities like the government will be eligible to reimport military-grade firearms.
Does everyone know what this refers to? That's right. The decades-old importation of WWII-era collectible infantry rifles (M1 Garands and Carbines) from South Korea, where they've been sitting in warehouses since shortly after the Armistice because they're of no military value. You know...old, mostly worn-out, big, heavy and expensive antiques that never see "the streets" because they're snapped up by collectors as soon as they're made available by a tiny number of importers, and are absolutely NOT sought after by criminals....because they're old, mostly worn-out, big, heavy and expensive antiques. This probably explains why they're essentially never used to commit crimes.

I feel safer now because I'll probably never be able to get a Garand at anything even remotely resembling a justifiable price. But at least we won't have to worry about gangs of roving WWII enthusiasts knocking of liquor stores.

Jackasses.

You boys regret voting for him now don't you? Told ya:grin:
5.) DParker - 08/29/2013
I feel safer already, knowing that collectors won't be able to get their hands on many more of these 70+ year-old "military-grade firearms".

Now we need to do something about all of those muskets and flintlocks. Do you know how many wars were fought with those things? Oh...and let's not forget that terror of the 14th century battlefield: The English long bow.

Just think of the joy of following this up with the Clintons back in the White House in 2017...You probably saw where Bill frowns on making it "harder to vote than to buy an 'assault weapon'."

Yeah, right. Maybe in some other country, or on that other planet I suspect these people are from...

This is great grist for the fact checkers who might want to call BS on Clinton and the talking points you know are coming down the pike...

If there are any such "fact checkers" out there...:re:

Next thing you know, government agencies responsible for dealing with domestic issues will start stockpiling bullets and purchasing armored vehicles. Oh, wait . . . . . .

If you need a giggle, look up the Department of Education's milquetoast news release after this story broke. Following is what I believe is a fair and comprehensive report of/commentary on a story that between mainline journalists, entrenched bureaucrats and feverish internet commentators was royally mis-reported.
