Nontoxic Shot: While waterfowl hunting, only nontoxic shot approved by the director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service may be possessed. Lead shot is unlawful! The Dove is not a waterfowl. A migratory bird, yes, but not a waterfowl. And one doesn't routinely set up hunting blinds on water and shoot them to land in water. Just buy steel shot-shells if the pattern right out of your shot gun.

last time i ate them i breaded them in flour and fryed them good and long, like they tell you to do..they tasted like liver..i think i cooked them to long. next time i get a few i'll wrap with bacon and put them on the grill. maybe throw in a jalapeno slice. that and wash it down with beer.

Dove breasts always have a liver flavor to them. You can tame that a bit though if you marinate them in wine and some herbs first (I like to use Shiraz/Syrah with some rosemary and tarragon). And the bacon wrap is a must to keep them from drying out. If you want to grill them putting them on skewers is an easy method that works really well. Just remember to soak the skewers in water first if you're using wood ones (like bamboo).

Quick look at your regs ... but it isn't totally clear .... they say any waterfowl requires non toxic So dove would be open although there is a statement in the waterfowl regs that limits certain state hunting areas to the non toxic requirements.
