http://nation.foxnews.com/2013/08/04/seattle-ban-‘potentially-offensive’-words-‘brown-bag’-and-‘citizen’
Are there some words you know that you want banned? Maybe we should get them all out in the open so collectively we can begin to heal. I remember in kindergarten, we were taught to be good citizens. Now I realize I was being hateful. We could substitute citizen for "human life-form currently occuping space in this particular time and dimension." We could substitute 'brown-bag' for "non-denominational, multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-species (way ahead of you PETA) container full of life sustaining units". 2.) bluecat - 08/05/2013
Anyone else offended by the term "flying Asians"?
3.) Swamp Fox - 08/05/2013
LOL...
I don't recognize "flying Asians", but it might have been an episode I missed... Obviously the guy is a nutbag. I don't understand "lunch-and-learn" for "brown bag" at all..."Sack lunch" seems sexist... A citizen is different from a resident, so I don't have a problem using the correct word for what you mean, but I have a problem if you think you're being mean by using the correct word. There's a list of other words Seattle's resident nutbag e-mailed about, I think, but I don't have it handy....oops....apologies to the paraplegics out there... 4.) Swamp Fox - 08/05/2013
Okay, I just figured out "flying Asians." :wink I thought it might have been an obscure Monty Python skit I missed somehow....LOL
5.) Ventilator - 08/05/2013
flying asians as in jumping asian carp. the invasive species that inhabits the ohio river and will damn near kill you when they jump out of the water at the sound of your boat coming. had 4-5 jump in the boat during the two nights we shot them. avg around 15lbs or so with a head as hard as a brick. Dont feel that great when they slam into you. of top of that ,they stink!
6.) patdouglas22 - 08/05/2013
Now I bet I could hit the ones that jump in the boat.... but as far as the ones jumping out of the water, no chance.
In regards to staying on topic. I hear you... we are awful concerned with tip-toeing around each other these days aren't we. 7.) Ventilator - 08/05/2013
Yes Pat , you are correct there man!
8.) Swamp Fox - 08/05/2013
It could be worse...We could still be ruled by the pasty British...
Bloody wankers...:wink "The BBC censored a recent repeat of the classic Fawlty Towers episode ‘The Germans’ on the grounds that some of the 1970s dialogue would be considered offensive to a modern audience. This got me wondering what Fawlty Towers would be like if the BBC recommissioned it under present-day diversity and equality guidelines . . ." There should be an open season on nutbags. Just say'n:co:
10.) bluecat - 08/05/2013
I find the following very offensive. It is the reenactment of the battle of Pearl Harbor.
11.) Swamp Fox - 08/05/2013
Thought this was the whole episode...I'll keep digging..
For those that don't know Fawlty Towers.. youtube makes you jump through hoops for this episode, btw :re:: 12.) Swamp Fox - 08/05/2013

Reminds me of one of my favorite jokes about the subject...
The German controllers at Frankfurt Airport were a short-tempered lot. They not only expected you to know your parking location but how to get there without any assistance from them. So it was with some amusement that we (PanAm 747) listened to the following exchange between Frankfurt ground and a British Airways 747 (radio call Speedbird 206) after landing. Speedbird 206: "Good morning Frankfurt, Speedbird 206 clear of the active." Ground: "Guten morgan, taxi to your gate." The British Airways 747 pulls onto the main taxiway and stops. Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are going?" Speedbird 206: "Stand by, ground, I'm looking up the gate location now." Ground (with typical German impatience): "Speedbird 206, have you never flown to Frankfurt before?" Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, in 1944. But I didn't stop". 16.) Swamp Fox - 08/05/2013
I used to go to a German-Chinese fusion restaurant a lot, but I had to quit.
The food was always great, but an hour later I was hungry for power. 17.) bluecat - 08/05/2013
 Good ones gentlepeople (I don't want to offend any lesbians).

Well, my first choice was the Italian-Japanese place...There was a lot of gesturing and bowing going on with the waiters and the cooks, but somehow the rice always came out on time...

Seeing as how this thread is already thoroughly derailed, and I don't feel like starting another one, here's a nice little self-defense tip from the Director of Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns:
While I'm fairly certain that the average high schooler could kick this guy's ass without breaking a sweat, I'd love to see him put up his little dukes to test his "I'm too manly to use a firearm for defense against anything but another firearm" theory against any psychopath armed with a 3' piece of hickory that's been ergonomically designed for repeated swinging and maximization of impact force. Or maybe just a pissed off Harley biker with his bare hands. I would even be polite enough to extend my condolences to his family. Oh, and he can't even get the particulars of self-defense law correct either, and in longer versions of the vid he goes on to claim that it's "Stand Your Ground" that gives the state a "beyond a reasonable doubt" burdon of proof (which is complete bunk...that's the burdon in even basic-self defense cases in 49 states). 27.) Swamp Fox - 08/06/2013
Weenies...a nation of weenies.
I like how some opponents of SYG say it's redundant or unnecessary or basically the same as accepted principles of self-defense...and then go on to seem unable to find any "other" reason to oppose it. Of course, in debate class they call this "Talking out of your ass." At least I think they do. I was never in a debate class. My belief is that these people basically don't believe in a right to self-defense to begin with, especially if it involves a gun. This guy is a prime example. 28.) Swamp Fox - 08/06/2013
Well, DParker, another fine mess you've gotten us into...
Shut down ANOTHER thread... :tap: :wink 29.) DParker - 08/06/2013
I was just trying to get in the last word. And I'd have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those meddling kids and their talking dog.
30.) bluecat - 08/07/2013
I'm offended by the term brown bag. The choice of words is appalling and disgusting.
31.) Swamp Fox - 08/07/2013
This is an article on words that have been banned from New York City public school standardized tests...
Not sure if Bloomberg had anything to do with it, but they have more than one nutbag up there anyway...It has to be a losing battle for sanity in the Big Apple...."Beware of Stupid People in Large Groups".... http://seattletimes.com/html/editorialsopinion/2017877081_pitts01.html 32.) bluecat - 08/07/2013
So how are those words a "distraction?" Well, let's look at the list.
"Dinosaur?" Not everyone accepts the theory of evolution. Those people are always the first eaten. "Birthday?" Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate them. They're too busy milling around on your porch. "Pepperoni?" Junk food. That stuff'll kill ya. Yeah, but what a way to go. "Dancing?" Didn't you see Footloose? No, but I've seen enough to know it should be banned! :bang: 33.) DParker - 08/07/2013
