Hey, XP, good to see you. You might want to check the regs because a lot of states go easy on the military (and even college students) as far as residency requirements go. The Carolinas, for example...

To qualify for any resident game and fish license, permit, preference point, or tag, a person shall be domiciled and shall physically reside in Wyoming for one (1) full year (365 consecutive days) immediately preceding the date the person applies for or purchases the license, permit, preference point, or tag and the person shall not have claimed residency elsewhere for any other purpose (including, but not limited to, voting, payment of income taxes, purchase of resident hunting, fishing, or trapping licenses, etc.) for that one (1) year period.

Oh, well. SC is sixty days, and NC has a new reg as of July 1 that active-duty military can purchase licenses at resident prices with no requirement re. length or place of domicile.

the thing i like about the crossbow, when i hunt on public ground for a weekend, i dont have the time to set up a stand..put it up friday take it down sunday.. this olemans tired. i can walk in there play the wind right.. mind you eye to eye with the deer no stand no blind ..just me and the woods..there still going to be 40 yards an in..i'm just not going to have a treestand advantage..

That would work for turkeys. too.. I hate hunting out of a blind 99% of the time...but I got tired of bad sets/no sets without one on gobblers with a vertical bow. So now if I'm gonna try turkeys with a bow I usually sit in a blind with a vertical bow and have my shotgun handy for run and gun, LOL.

for some reason i love hunting turkeys out of a blind ..deer i hate it.. i would rather be up agaisnt a tree hunting deer for some reason.. are in a treestand.. for deer theres no sound until there right on you...turkeys 90 percent of the time you can hear them gobble.

Damn turkeys around here aren't so cooperative, LOL...I'd rather run and gun even if they were easier from a blind, though. The blind does let you fidget and take a nap, though...Plus I think you could probably get a lot of texting done ....

i'll help you out..i'm thinking maybe 10 teams of 1 or 5 teams of 2..once we get all the teams picked we can split up in different shifts..you can have the weekday day shifts and i'll take the friday thru sunday noon shift.. just incase anyone has any questions one of us we be avaliable at are slotted times.. i just want this to run smoothly as possible..

For me it's between Floyd and Bob Peck if OHBH doesn't want to do it.
OHBH because he has experience and a lot of kids running around the house who can pull names out of a hat.
Floyd would be good because of everything that's already been said, plus he knows how to use Facebook, which always impresses me.
But Bob Peck might be my first choice because he's been lurking a lot lately, and it might be good for him to get out of the house and into the dirt with the neighborhood kids, so to speak.
I worry about him sometimes, isolated up there in the Shenandoah Valley with all the deer and bears and turkeys and possums, plus all the grand hunting industry poobahs. Sure, he probably has a lot of Confederate reenactor friends, but they just want to stuff him like a sausage into a blue uniform and watch him "charge" up a hill and then roll back down when they shoot him in the face with a six-pound mountain howitzer.
I mean, that's what I'd want.
Yeah, there will be beer afterwards and Bob will be a good guy and invite some of them to hunt with him, and they'll point him in the direction of some local farm ponds that don't have any fish in them, but it won't be the same as spending a lot of valuable cyber facetime on a hunting forum and running a deer contest for his true virtual friends all over the country.

Why not just a contest where the winner is decided by a poll? You only have to kill a deer and post a pic to be entered. Then people can vote based on whatever qualifications they deem appropriate...... such as being amazed that a particular someone actually killed something or being wowed by someone's photoshopping abilities or maybe someone like Swampy putting as many bikini-clad women in the pic as possible. :-)
