UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE THAT SAME KINDA PROBLEM IN ALMOST ANY CAMPAIGN WE ARE IN. A BUDDY OF MINE JUST GOT BACK FROM AFGHANISTAN AND WAS TELLING ME THAT OUR MILITARY AND CIVILIAN FORCES OVER THERE ARE WASTING UNGODLY AMOUNTS. THEY CANNOT GET TIRES OR RIMS INDIVIDUALLY FOR THEIR QUAD PATROLS SO THEY SHIP IN CONTAINERS OF BRAND NEW UNITS THAT IN SOME CASES THEY WILL TAKE THE WHEEL AND TIRE OFF AND PUT IT ON THE OLD QUAD INSTEAD OF UTILIZING THE NEW ONE. AND THE NEW ONE ENDS UP IN A HUGE AZZ GARBAGE PIT OF TONS OF OTHER STUFF BROUGHT IN FOR SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES.

IT'S EASIER FOR THEM TO TAKE THE WHEEL WITH 4 BOLTS THAN TO SWAP THE REST OF THEIR GEAR OVER TO THE NEW ONE. AND AT NIGHT THEY CAN SEE PEOPLE COMING TO THE FOB DUMP AND TAKING ALL SORTS OF STUFF BACK TO INSURGENTVILLE.

THE SAD THIS IT'S LIKE THAT EVERYWHERE AND WITH EVERYTHING. TOOLS, CHAINSAWS, AIR COMPRESSORS. 110.00 OAKLYS ARE HANDED OUT FOR THE TAKING AND LEFT HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE AND IF THE SET EM DOWN, THEY JUST GO BACK TO THE SUPPLY GUYS AND GRAB ANOTHER SET. MOST PEOPLE GO THRU 80+ PAIRS IN A 6 MONTH DEPLOYMENT AND SHIPPING CONTAINERS ARE EVERYWHERE AND KEEP COMING IN.

At a time of record deficits, a new soccer field for detainees at Camp 6 in Guantanamo Bay is just getting the finishing touches -- at a cost of $750,000 to taxpayers.


The new field has been specially constructed so that the detainees "have maximum access" -- about 20 hours a day. Special passageways allow the detainees to pass into the new recreation yard without being escorted by the military.

The Army’s Expeditionary Contracting Command (ECC) procured a $62,125 contract for television/DVD player combos on May 30. The award went to Intech, Inc., a Government Services Administration (GSA) approved vendor.

A second contract, announced on July 11, allots $18,981.25 for TV sets and TV mounts. This award was given to Digital Plaza Direct, the “electronics company of choice for all federal and local government purchasers.”

In all, the Army spent $81,106.25 in 42 days on television equipment for the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.


Guantanamo Bay, however, is not cutting back. As CNSNews.com previously reported, the detention center also is looking to hire seminar instructors to teach terrorists watercolor painting, Adobe Photoshop and Arabic calligraphy, among other things.

By the way, so long as we're griping about stuff in the news (and rather than start a new thread I'll just hijack this one)...much to my surprise ABC published a brief but excellent piece two days ago by their legal analyst Dan Abrams. Don't be mislead by the title, as the real point is that...contrary to the non-stop peddling by the news media (including ABC) of the ill-informed B.S. about the Zimmerman case and FL's implementation of the "Stand Your Ground" doctrine and how odd FL law is when it comes to self-defense, the FL law that *actually* applied and resulted in the acquittal was:

A) Not the so-called "Stand Your Ground law" (which is a misnomer anyway), but basic self-defense. And,

B) The substance of FL's basic self-defense law is not only not unusual, but is nearly identical in every meaningful way to the law in all 50 states, save for one variation in Ohio that shifts the burdon of proof standard to a "preponderance of the evidence" one, which makes OH the odd man out in that regard...not FL. And,

C) Given a competent and conscientious jury the case would (and should) have resulting in an acquittal in every state...likely even Ohio.

Also, if you have the time and interest....search on the names "Roderick Scott" and "Christopher Cervini". I'll guarantee that most all of you have never heard those names before, given that they relate to a 2009 case VERY similar to the Zimmerman one (and with the same result) in Rochester, NY (so maybe Alex is familiar with it) that was utterly ignored by the media outside of NY, not to mention all those who are now screaming about "justice".
