1.) DParker - 05/20/2013
After checking out the chili cook-off in Denton on Saturday, which consisted mostly of old farts sitting around in folding chairs shooting the breeze and drinking cheap-ass American pilsner...and resigning myself to that being my very near future (except with better beer)...I came away feeling even more ancient than I already do now. But as if to really hammer the point home my daughter and her new hubby stopped by the house yesterday to let us know that she's in the process of turning us into grandparents.
At first I was all.... :ek: ....then I was.... This morning it sunk in and I was... :ek:  :ek:  :ek:  :ek:  Man, what a rollercoaster. 2.) bluecat - 05/20/2013
Gramps...
That's all I gots to say...
This is what I'm aspiring to. 13.) luv2bowhunt - 05/21/2013
Grandkids are awesome. They think you're some kind of candy god with the power to provide all their wildest dreams and toys.
I don't care if the girls show up anymore as long as they bring the grandkids..........and then take them home after I have them all pumped full of sugar. They are waaaaaayyyyy better than the kids were. Seriously, it is all good. Congrats and welcome to the club.:tu: 14.) DParker - 05/21/2013
Congrats and welcome to the club.:tu:
Thanks. Is there a secret handshake? Is my membership card in the mail? Is it good for discounts on motels, rental cars and/or Grand Slam Breakfasts? 15.) Hunter - 05/21/2013
Gramps...
Did you say Gramps or Grump?
There's a difference?
Grandpa DParker. You will absolutely love the job. Congrats.
Thanks. I'm already trying to figure out the best stuff to teach him/her in order to piss off mom and dad the most. Sweet, sweet revenge. 18.) luv2bowhunt - 05/21/2013
Load them up with sugar and caffeine while babysitting. Works everytime.
19.) Jag - 05/21/2013
Toys that make loud, annoying sounds.

No, farting uncontrollably at inopportune times should be all that is required. Smelling funny is optional. 21.) luv2bowhunt - 05/22/2013
Napping in front of a loud TV during family get togethers is an advanced grandfathering skill. Don't expect to have that down just yet, but it will come in time DP.
You might try to ease into it by napping on a bench at the mall or community park. Once you're acclimated to falling asleep in public, in noisy situations, you're ready to go for broke at home. 22.) DParker - 05/22/2013
I'm more than willing to put in the long hours of practice that I'm sure will be required to perfect that particular skill. I'm just that dedicated.
23.) bluecat - 05/22/2013
Also bear in mind that you are required to mow the lawn in bermuda shorts black socks and slippers. Well...like you do now.
24.) DParker - 05/22/2013
I thought the correct footwear with that ensemble was white patent leather shoes? I need to consult my spring fashion issue of GQ (Geriatric's Quarterly) again.
25.) bluecat - 05/22/2013
Yes, get back to me on that.
The white patent leather shoes are a good choice for mowing but I generally like to see them with baby blue sansabelt overhauls. They are super spiffy and will get a wink from the waitress when ordering your dinner at 4:00 in the afternoon at Golden Corral. |
