1.) Go Bucks - 05/09/2013
George W Bush and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barber shop. As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken. The barbers were even afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics. As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had Obama in his chair reached for the aftershave.
Obama was quick to stop him saying, “No thanks, my wife Michelle will smell that and think I’ve been in a whorehouse.” The second barber turned to Bush and said, “How about you sir?” Bush replied, “Go ahead; my wife doesn’t know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.” 2.) bluecat - 05/09/2013

Big-Boy Pants....
4.) bluecat - 05/09/2013
It would never stink as bad as the whole Benghazi attack.
5.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
"What, at this point, does it matter?!?!"
BTW, if someone could clue me in to why all my pics come out as thumbnails these days, I'd appreciate it. I upload straight from my pics on my computer. Always did it this way but hardly ever got thumbnails in the past. 6.) bluecat - 05/09/2013
Good pic Swampy.
I think it is by default Swamp. If you go the photobucket route you can get the size you want without having to click on thumbnail. Alex may be able to help us on that. I've been watching the Benghazi stuff. It is an absolute crime the way this administration handled the whole thing- the lieing and the cover ups. Hillary greeted the parents of the fallen Navy Seals at the airport with their bodies and was telling them that U.S. has vowed to get the perpetrator of the YouTube video. This was a week after the attack. You watch, she will be our next President. 7.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
I never used to get all thumbnails before...There must be some default setting. I haven't looked too hard. I hate all the back and forth involved with PhotoBucket, so I hope that's not the ultimate solution. It might be a little easier if there were a way to grab a pic off the net and save it direct to PhotoBucket? I've never tried.
As far as Benghazi goes, it's the perfect storm of stupidity, spinelessness, incompetence, delusion and dishonesty. There are probably some other ingredients that I am not thinking of right now, but it bakes up to a turd pie just like everything else. It's the only recipe this administration knows. Oh, yeah, Obama's got pie... 8.) bluecat - 05/09/2013
We had air support standing by. This sickens me.
He is qualified to be a gameshow host. That's it. 9.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
Well, I'm hoping that after eight months/four years, people will finally start paying attention...
The sad thing is that Hillary would be an improvement, even though she's never run anything either. Was it Pelosi that recently said Hillary would be our most qualified presidential candidate in years? I about fell out of my chair laughing. In what galaxy? List Hillary's accomplishments here: ____________ And I wonder how BO felt about that? Maybe he didn't hear, the way he claimed he was unaware that Benghazi whistle-blowers were claiming they were being obstructed and threatened. He has time to call up hoops players who come out of the closet and tell them he's proud of them, but no time to keep up with the news or do his job... 10.) DParker - 05/09/2013
Good pic Swampy.
I think it is by default Swamp. If you go the photobucket route you can get the size you want without having to click on thumbnail.
It also saves Alex a little storage space on his server, since the photos are actually hosted on Photobucket's (or whatever photo hosting site you use) servers. All that's included here is a link to them.
I've been watching the Benghazi stuff. It is an absolute crime the way this administration handled the whole thing- the lieing and the cover ups.
I spent yesterday listening to the hearings streaming live on my desktop. What's most telling is that all the Dems on the committee kept coming back to the one (long debunked as not having anything at all to do with what happened) talking point about funding for embassy security, which appears to be all they've got. Even Stephen Lynch (Dem. US Rep. from MA, not the singing comedian) said on Sunday, regarding the intel talking points that were altered by the State Dept.: "They certainly weren’t accurate. I don’t know what the process was there. But, absolutely, they were false. They were wrong. There were no protests outside of the Benghazi compound there. This was a deliberate and strategic attack on the consulate there. So any statements that this was sort of like the other protests that we saw in Cairo and other embassies- this was not that type of case. This was a concerted effort." ...and... "Well it was scrubbed- it was totally inaccurate. You’re absolutely right. There was no excuse for that. It was false information. And what they tried to was harmonize what happened in Benghazi with what happened everywhere else across the Middle East. Which was totally wrong." ...and... "Well I, yeah, I think it was a victory of ‘hope over reality’- to be honest with you. They were hoping this wasn’t the case."
Hillary greeted the parents of the fallen Navy Seals at the airport with their bodies and was telling them that U.S. has vowed to get the perpetrator of the YouTube video. Of course, one should never underestimate the GOP's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Oh...and the joke was funny....I don't care who you are. 11.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
DP---You think there's a default setting for thumbnails here that wasn't on BC? I suppose I can't change it if there is?
It might be a little easier if there were a way to grab a pic off the net and save it direct to PhotoBucket? I've never tried.
If you're trying to post a photo from another site on the internet you don't even need to transfer it at all...to either your PC or Photobucket. You can just link to it directly:

{Right-click} on the photo on whatever web page you're viewing it on.
Select "Properties" from the bottom of the pop-up menu.
To the right of the "Adress:" property label is the URL address of the image. Select the text of the entire URL with your mouse and press {CTRL}{C} to copy it.
In your BC post, select the photo tool from the editing tool bar.
When the photo insertion dialog pops up, select the "From URL" tab and paste the copied address into the "URL" box.
Deselect the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" checkbox.
Press "OK".
It looks more complicated than it is. Once you've done it a couple of times it'll become 2nd nature to you. Occasionally you'll right-click on an image that doesn't actually produce the URL of the actual image file (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc), but to something else that causes the image to be served up indirectly. This technique won't work on those. 14.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
Aha! I'll give it a whirl...I would have been lost without #6...Thx.
Aha! I'll give it a whirl...I would have been lost without #6...Thx.
Yeah. If you don't deselct that option the forum software downloads a copy of the image from the URL you provided to Alex's server, and then uses that copy to display it in your post (which, IIRC, is always displayed as a thumbnail...at least by default). The downside to referencing it directly from the webpage you found it on is that the pic might go away or be replaced by a different one if that web page is changed/deleted. But generally if we're not posting a photo we took ourselves (or have in our own photo accounts for some other reason) then it's just goofy nonsense anyway, so that's a completely acceptable risk. :wink 16.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
I'm a sucker for goofy nonsense, though. In fact, I'm stockpiling it so I can survive the next three years...

As an example of such direct image references, I give you the rural Texas version of the "This school is a gun free zone" sign (as in, guns will be freed from their holsters if need be...and just never you mind the sloppy punctuation and grammar, Mr CitySlicker):

Well, I tried the new technique and once I deselected I was not given any "post" options...Process just kinda stopped in its tracks. When I went back and tried 'selecting" to see if that worked, I got an invalid file message...So I'll try again on the next pic I come across.
In the meantime, enjoy the thumbnail....:wink 21.) DParker - 05/09/2013
Well, I tried the new technique and once I deselected...
By this, are you referring to step #5?
I was not given any "post" options...
I'm not sure what this refers to, but if the answer to my previous question is "yes" then at this point you just click the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box. Oh, and....this is now officially derailed into a "help Swampy become tech savvy" thread. 22.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
No, step 6.
Once I deselected, the OK box vanished and the only option I had was to close the window. If I left the box checked, i.e., if I did not deselect, then I was given a chance to hit OK to proceed, but then got an invalid file messsage. So, just to keep the audience happy and get back on track: Obama, the Easter Bunny and a midget walk into a bar... 23.) DParker - 05/09/2013
That's bizarre. I've tried to reproduce that behavior and I can't. Are you using IE as your browser? Or something else?

Nope, IE...I'll see if I can find another picture and try it again. 26.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
Nope...Did it again...
I'm starting with the "Insert Image" icon, right? And copying the entire address from Properties? In the meantime: 27.) DParker - 05/09/2013
Make sure the address ends in an image file name (something with a .jpg, .jpeg, .gif or .png extension)..like this, for instance:
http://mos.totalfilm.com/images/6/6-rowdy-rabbits-who-should-be-stars-00.jpg
Try pasting the last URL address you tried just directly into a post so I can see what it was. 28.) luv2bowhunt - 05/09/2013

Obama, the Easter Bunny and a midget walk into a bar...
The Easter Bunny with his arm around the midget make their way to a nearby table. The Easter Bunny and the midget were having a good time laughing, telling stories and reliving the work day. Obama was sitting by himself and was getting kind of fidgety. He was out of his element in the bar as he wasn't waited on hand and foot. Pointing at the Bunny and the midget he said "Why are you laughing at me?" It's because I'm black right? The Easter Bunny turned to Obama and said, "It's because your ears are so big." 37.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013

There's only one conclusion to be reached here, Swampy: HC's software hates you.
46.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
To add insult to injury, next I took Luv2's flaming truck pic and wasn't given an okay button at all in the Insert Image box...

Might be time to bring Alex in on this one if we haven't scared him off already...

Unless there's some HC config option I'm not seeing, it sounds like Javascript is hosed up somehow on your machine. Just for the heck of it you might try restarting IE...or just rebooting Windows altogether.

Good point there, do you keep up with your Javascript updates Tarheel?
53.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013
I just restarted. I'll give it a whirl. I have a good 45 minutes before the good-looking women hit the Harris Teeter, anyway...So really this isn't keeping me from anything. :re: :bang::wink
I don't do anything that I don't get prompted for. Haven't seen anything about Javascript that I can remember. But I'm having some issues with PC Cleaner and maybe Norton that I can't figure out, either. If this doesn't work, I'll try it on a different laptop and hand this one over to the Geek Squad for a few days. 54.) DParker - 05/09/2013
Good point there, do you keep up with your Javascript updates Tarheel?
What gets periodically updated on a Windows machine is the "Java" installation (created by Sun Microsystems, but now owned by Oracle...which bought all of Sun). "Javascript" is a script interpreter that's implemented by your browser (IE in this case). Despite the naming...and syntactical...similarities they are in fact two quite different things. Your "Javascript" implementation won't be updated unless you update your browser...and possibly not even then. 55.) Swamp Fox - 05/09/2013

Tell me you don't see the similarities....A day in the life: (Plus, you never see them in the same place at the same time, do you?) "Mrs. Puff chooses SpongeBob to be hall monitor of the schoolday at boating school. After accepting his role as hall monitor, SpongeBob spends the entire school day giving an acceptance speech. Out of pity, Mrs. Puff allows SpongeBob to wear the uniform for the rest of the day, but he wrongly assumes that he is still hall monitor, and makes another wrongful assumption that all of his hall monitor duties apply to the whole of Bikini Bottom. He tries to aid others, but only ends up causing terror and chaos in town. A paperboy randomly gives newspapers that state a maniac is destroying the town, and, after a failed attempt to catch the maniac and causing more chaos, SpongeBob discovers that he is the maniac that was mentioned in that newspaper story. As the authorities arrive, Mrs. Puff also arrives and scolds SpongeBob, unwittingly taking the blame for his actions in the process, so she ends up receiving a sentence to prison for several months. While she is imprisoned, she teaches to her students through Videoconferencing." Season 1, Episode 7a 59.) Go Bucks - 05/09/2013
