Hope you feel better D! I'll see what I can do...Bluecat's tied up right now...At least that's what his wife said when I called over there...
You know, I like a little pastry every once in a while, too...I went looking for some music videos and was surprised to find quite a few songs about Pop Tarts, but all of them suck...:wink Then I thought about warm Danish, or maybe some Norwegian cupcakes or even some English muffins...Or just tarts in general...I found some videos, but the music was kinda techno hip-hop when I wasn't skeered to click on them altogether...LOL...And techno hip-hop isn't really one of my things... I might work up the courage to go back later, though. The pictures looked good. :-) 16.) DParker - 04/19/2013

I saw Bullz-i lurking but he musta gotten bored...Sucker! 18.) Swamp Fox - 04/19/2013
Whenever possible I always like listening (to this song in particular) in mono and then in stereo because it's so clear how the listening is different when the instruments are coming out of two "sides/speakers" vs. just one...
19.) DParker - 04/19/2013
You're just the king of the double entendré today. :wink
20.) bluecat - 04/22/2013

We lost a good one this week.
24.) Swamp Fox - 04/26/2013
There's a great acoustic performance of him in England if I remember correctly. I'll see if I can dig it up.
25.) Swamp Fox - 04/26/2013
It's probably this one since Tupelo Honey is one of my favorite songs "of all time" LOL...
It could be Just Like a Woman as well...Haven't had had time to listen to figure it out...At any rate it was something from this BBC performance that I have in mind... 26.) Swamp Fox - 04/26/2013
George Jones has passed away today as well..."He Stopped Loving Her Today"...
RIP Richie and George... 27.) Swamp Fox - 04/26/2013

Gonna miss this Guy. 30.) TRAVELER - 04/26/2013
R.I.P. 31.) DParker - 04/27/2013
OK...let's switch to a guy who only looks dead. I've always considered Jay Black (of Jay And The Americans) to have been one of the most underappreciated male vocalists of the '60s. He was incredibly dynamic and had great range. He could hit (and sustain) the high notes, but also had amazing power at the lower end. Every time I used to hear the big finish of Cara Mia I thought that I'd give my left huevo to have that voice:
32.) DParker - 04/27/2013
And, to add insult to injury, here he is 46 years later in 2011...as old as dirt (71), but still gettin' 'er done (having replaced The Americans with four guys it appears he found at the local bowling alley):
33.) DParker - 04/28/2013
Here's another good female vocalist (Mia Vermillion) that I just stumbled across. The interesting thing is that I stumbled across her on my iPod, and I have absolutely no recollection of having downloaded this tune, nor having ever heard it before. Old man memory strikes again. Anyway, here she is. Very sultry. Daddy likes.

Internet protocol DNS config. Needed to swap it from autodetect to a public DNS, like google.
Basically, bypass the network server and use a public DNS. Don't tell anyone. 47.) Swamp Fox - 05/08/2013
We salute Deeminator and Luv2...Two great Americans...

And while we're at it, I'm going to see how many of the "best videos" of the MTV age (you know, back when they actually did that) I can find. Not necessarily the best songs, but just particularly creative, imaginative or otherwise just particularly entertaining video representations. For starters, I always the setting of Bonnie Tyler's "Here She Comes" against the backdrop of the classic Metropolis (first sci-fi motion picture ever) was pretty cool, for some reason:

That's moving up the Gulf, musically and geographically speaking...
Georgia> South Carolina> North Carolina I could play some Virginia tunes, but I don't know if they're technically on the Gulf... It depends on who you ask. There's a big port in Norfolk, though, so maybe they qualify. 61.) Swamp Fox - 08/10/2013

Heading west from Gainesville back over to Jacksonsville, we have THE real Lynyrd Skynyrd drummers Artimus Pyle and Bob Burns together for a rare moment on a tropical Caribbean or Gulf Cruise---I don't know which--in the Straits of Gibraltar...

I never was a huge Molly Hatchet fan, but you have to give it to them for the Frank Frazetta album cover art...Pretty cool when you're 18...or even now when you're...um...37...
Plus they're also from Jacksonville....Right on the Gulf, in fact....Like, I'd say, no more than a block from where the Mississippi dumps out... One of my more favorite tunes: 68.) Swamp Fox - 08/10/2013
Now, THIS was a great Jacksonville band...The first performance was recorded in Zurich, Switzerland, just down the highway on A1A.
This next was recorded in England, which I've never heard of, but I think it might be one of the Florida Keys...I think they have names... 69.) crookedeye - 08/11/2013

Hawaii Five-0: Lost In Space (Season 4...not that Season 1-3 crap): Rawhide: Bonanza: The Beverly Hillbillies (Y'all come back now, y'hear?): The Addams Family, mon cherie (I spoke French!): Holy brass, Batman!: 152.) Swamp Fox - 11/30/2013

Some of the mid-70's stuff was pretty good, too, or at least it left a lasting impression, LOL. This is probably my favorite (and the show was, too): And a bonus video: :-) 153.) billy b - 11/30/2013

Today's music selection boiled down to four choices:
The Russian National Anthem, but I played that just a few months ago, when Obama discovered that though he liked his red line, he couldn't keep his red line... A musical tribute to my Worst Deer Season Ever, but that would actually involve some work rounding up all the appropriate songs... The theme from Vikings, which have returned to the History Channel, and are noticeably NOT drinking vodka... Or, one of the finest bootleg Pink Floyd recordings ever made, if you believe what you read on the internet, and we all know that if it's on the internet it has to be true. So, today, inspired by Bluecat's use of a classic Monty Python reference, I give you Cruel But Fair, in its entirety, if you believe the internet. Recorded Live at Los Angeles Sports Arena, Los Angeles, CA, USA - April 26, 1975. Extraordinary Stereo Audience Recording 320 kbps According to some, this is the very best Pink Floyd bootleg ever. This is the same disc as Dogs And Sheeps. ere's an excellent example of an AUD recording that could be confused with a soundboard recording. This is a great complete concert. It's rumored that if you listen carefully you can hear the police busting people during the show.Supposedly the LAPD was carrying out drug busts during the concert and you'd probably have to smoke a pretty hefty blunt to actually hear any of that happening.Hey,but the sound's that good. It's entertaining to hear Roger chew out security after the first set, too. http://pinkfloyd-pinkmoon.blogspot.com/2011/03/bootleg-pink-floyd-cruel-but-fair.html 171.) DParker - 03/07/2014

Well, c'mon...they hadn't even seen a potato yet. Good show, but it is becoming quite the soap opera, isn't it? "Will Lagertha come back to Ragnar? Or has she found love in the arms of another barbarian? Tune in next week to find out!" 172.) Swamp Fox - 03/07/2014
A fair point, but you'd think that if they really wanted to they could have found a way to use wheat. But, you see, they didn't WANT vodka...LOL,,,They were freakin' Vikings, man!...And I say good for them!
I accidentally watched an episode of Chicago PD the other night...That was nothing BUT soap opera...Should have known that when I recognized the chick from One Tree Hill... If I'm going to watch a soap opera, one with plenty of animal skins and furs, Norse gods and battle axes is better than most alternatives...:-) Plus a very cool theme and video intro... 173.) bluecat - 03/07/2014

You know, surprisingly, the Ice Ages seem to have killed a lot of the good music from that era, along with the mastodons. You'd think that if coyotes survived the tar pits, which they did, a few decent death metal bands---or even a funeral doom act or two---could have made it into the modern era. Well, my SC turkey season ended yesterday...
Final Score---Gobblers: About 17, Swampy: Exactly 1 Thought I was gonna get the string back on Wednesday, but no dice. I wore them out zigging and zagging with shotgun and bow over the last week, and they wore me out zagging and zigging... I have one more week in NC, but didn't get drawn for my best spot...I'll have to pull something out of a hat. :-) 278.) bluecat - 05/05/2014

Well, the sort-of hot weather has arrived. Gonna try to fish this evening, and then maybe I can get a stand or two hung in the AMs before the heat gets up...The turkeys got put on hold this week, Kinda doubt I'll bother with Virginia, which goes for another week.
I've got the fishing bug, and the beach is calling me, too... A little blues/beach music for your listening pleasure: 280.) DParker - 05/09/2014

Ha! Where'd you get the Blackened Voodoo? I used to be able to find it up here a few places but not lately. Me likey long time!
Come to think of it, I haven't seen Dixie beer anywhere in a while either. In 2005, the Dixie Brewery was severely damaged when Mid-City New Orleans flooded from the levee failure disaster during Hurricane Katrina. After the area was de-watered the brewery complex was looted with much of the equipment stolen. Despite early claims that the brewery would be restored, it remains off line as of December 2010 and the future of the facilities is uncertain. The brand remains in business, brewed under contract by breweries elsewhere. The building sits in the footprint of the new Department of Veterans Affairs hospital under construction in New Orleans' Mid-City neighborhood. Dixie is currently contract-brewed, though there are efforts to encourage local government support for the return of the Dixie Brewery.[6][7] ---Wiki Also Wild Boar made out in Oregon or Washington, but I think they might have gone out of business...Lost track of that one at least fifteen years ago... Also need to find some Shiner Prickly Pear...They've taken it out of their variety pack...Bastards! There are a few EJ songs I can't find on youtube...Too bad because they're usually the ones that are a little different. 291.) Jon - 05/16/2014
I've been watching "The Sopranos" lately, getting through the entire series again. I didn't pic it up on the first time through that they play allot of Van Morrison in that series. I loves me some Van Morrison!
292.) DParker - 05/16/2014
There's an awesome liquor store named Total Wine (it's a multi-state chain, with stores in the Carolinas, so you may know about them already) that opened up fairly recently in Plano not too far up the road from my office. It's like Disneyland for drinkers. In fact I've dubbed it "The Happiest Damned Place On Earth". Anywho....they have more craft beers than you can shake a bottle opener at, and that's where we found the Blackened Voodoo...though I've also seen it at a few other local places as well. Pretty tasty stuff, too. Now that the weather is warming up we're waiting for Blue Moon to re-release their seasonal Agave Nectar Ale. Yeah, that's right...I drink Blue Moon too.
As for the Shiner Prickly Pear...I'm not seeing it anywhere either, including on their website. Oh, and....I'll see your Elmore James and raise you a Buddy Guy... 293.) Swamp Fox - 05/16/2014

When I was 19-20 I worked at a spa in Vegas maintaining jacuzzis and saunas, and we constantly had music playing over a speaker system that covered the whole place. The owner was a real Van Morrison fan, and I heard this one so many times that to this day anytime I hear it again I swear I can smell chlorine....
297.) Swamp Fox - 05/16/2014

Van Morrison is good summertime music...Reminds me of piling into the 69 Ford stationwagon ("wood" paneling) with my high school buddies and a big cooler of beer (On the front seat, that's right, uh-huh!
Durham is not too far from me, depending on where in Durham, but holy cow! They're getting $10.99 a six for Blackened Voodoo and for Dixie...Considering there's nothing special about Dixie except that it's iconic New Orleans, that's eye-popping. Think if Miller were a regional Milwaukee beer and you were paying $11 for it! BV is unique enough that it could get a premium, but $8 or 9 a six would be about it. I guess I'll have to get a semi and make a Smokey and the Bandit run unless something better comes along... 307.) Swamp Fox - 05/16/2014
Looks like the Italian grocery store in Pelham, NY has the right idea at $8.99 a six for Blackened Voodoo, but no one else does, LOL. They get an extra dollar in nearby Ardsley, which obviously means Ardsley is more uptown. Being more than 430 miles away is a bit of a problem, though...

Haahhahahaha! Joan Jett, now that brings back some memories!
I think it was in '86 me and my sister and her boyfriend and several other friends were going to see her in concert at a smaller local bar/music stage...we had a pretty good 'pre-concert' party going on, so by the time we got there - most of us were pretty fired up. I was the last one going through the door, and this big smart-assed, tough guy bouncer/ticket collector made a couple of comments under his breath. So there was no way in hell I was going to let that go (which of course this punk ass knew) so me and him got into it. Did I look behind me before committing to jumping his ass? Of course not, cause if I did, I would have noticed that a cop car had pulled up and was sitting there... So yep, I got my sorry butt hauled away. But I got him, and he looked like it the next couple of weeks. :tu: They all still give me crap about screwing up going to the Joan Jett concert...:re: 439.) Swamp Fox - 02/14/2015
LOL...WB...:hb:
Awesome job while I was gone, y'all. You should win a prize or something. :tu: D, you're the man! Two excellent Joan Jett choices, especially...There's a REALLY rockin' version of "Do You Wanna" on youtube that I've played before, but it's fun to see her live. :tu: That concert must have been alcohol-free, though, LOL. Here she is with The Runaways before they broke up and she went her own way with The Blackhearts. You might have had to been there, but The Runaways were a big deal back in the day. :wink 440.) The best and possibly only sane way to go to Mardis Gras is to go with New Orleanians, preferably natives.
It was my fate---I should say my good fortune :wink-- to meet, hang out and live with a lot of professional N'awliners in college. When I went to Mardi Gras, I got the real deal, the true experience. :-) Check out the bar sign towards the end of this video. 443.) Deerminator - 03/27/2015

Really? I remember Floyd preferred a weekly thread rather than one big one, too, but I think that was mainly to be able to scroll easily on whatever inappropriate device he was reading the internet on, LOL.
I like having everything in one place 'cause I like to go back and listen to things, especially stuff I'm not familiar with but which left an impression on me, and I find it easier to locate what I'm looking for with one thread...But I'm willing to listen. I've read reports that Hillary has some hang-up about drinking water. Maybe Michelle should sit her down for a some First-Lady talk.
The Trump camp should float the idea that maybe it's a W.C. Fields-type thing...That would be amusing. Not as funny as W.C., but you can't have everything...Hey, Trump Camp: Don't say I never did anything for you. :wink I think I've found my theme song for these two candidates. It reminds me of the movie Black Snake Moan, in which I think he only had one song, which was pretty different from the rest of the movie, if I remember. Anyway, here's what I remember of RL from the movie, and I recommend the film to anyone who likes Mississippi blues. 640.) Swamp Fox - 08/04/2017
Okay, so I had a chance to look at a listing of the soundtrack and there are a few other songs that RL Burnside covered, but the only two songs I'm pretty sure he wrote or co-wrote don't appear in the movie.
He may have covered others on the soundtrack (more than likely) but the only youtube evidence I find, besides PBM above, is Stack-o-Lee (or Stagger Lee), Just Like a Bird Without a Feather, and Alice Mae. Here's a challenge for the audience: Find a *good* *blues* version of Stagger Lee that you can play on HuntingCountry Radio without getting banned, LOL. This is about the best I could find: 641.) The first song would make a good soundtrack for a hunting video, if you're into that kinda thing. I can see the second song being attempted, too. LOL Have fun!
Well...it was a great show. It was a good time with great music. It was much better than most other concerts that I've been to over the last 20 years or so... It seems like so many bands any more think that performing 45 minutes of just their new songs with only one or two of their most popular thrown in constitutes a concert. That's tough to swallow that kind of performance when you compare it to concerts that you've been to by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bob Seger, Crosby Stills Nash, Edgar Winter, Gregg Allman and more back in the day that lasted well over 3 hours. But like I said these guys did a great job. They played non-stop with very little BS time and transitioned from one song into the next very quickly; all total they played for about an hour and 40 minutes. It was pretty cool, it was an outdoor venue and when they cranked up, we had dry thunderstorms flashing lightening all around off the distance behind the stage...that coupled with their own light show, made for quite the visual during the concert! They were very loud I''ll say that! My dam ears were still ringing two days later. (I also have to report that my ear that was nearer to my son when he shot through my hunting blind - rang much worse than my other...:p - there must be a little more hearing damage in that one!) 655.) Here comes Irma...
Neil Young--Hurricane And here are two versions of "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan. The first was going on the album until threats of a lawsuit about lyrics describing elements of the crime/investigation/testimony. The second slightly re-written and much more hard-driving version at the link is what made it onto the album, which is why it's not on Youtube, Dylan's people being very aggressive about removing his work. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3aNZI-Y72UAUHRhQUlWTWFPbVE/view I think Emmylou screws up on the first version at least a couple of times. On the other hand, Dylan and this song in particular have gotta be tough duet gigs. 678.) Swamp Fox - 10/03/2017

I asked about a piece of music I first heard at a college football game and then on a TIAA commercial. At the game, it got everyone dancing, but as I was watching at home on TV there were no cute coeds around to ask what it was, LOL. [Simultaneous booing ...]
So, it's been bugging me for more than a year that I didn't know the name of the song. Yesterday, by accident, I figured it out while surfing around on the intertoobz looking for something else. The sample at the game was #4, or a club version of it, but it comes from 1960, when "Apache" was a #1 single instrumental for The Shadows. Apparently, version # 5 gets sampled a lot, as in #4, and it is what was used in the TIAA commercial. So, from surf to hip hop. Pretty cool piece of music.
The Pogues were an Irish-British Celtic punk band formed in 1982 and fronted by Shane MacGowan. The band was founded in Kings Cross, London,[1] as Pogue Mahone—the anglicisation of the Irish póg mo thóin, meaning "kiss my arse".[2] The band reached international prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s, recording several hit albums and singles. MacGowan left the band in 1991 due to drinking problems but the band continued first with Joe Strummer and then with Spider Stacy on vocals before breaking up in 1996.[3] The Pogues reformed in late 2001, and played regularly across the UK and Ireland and on the US East Coast, until dissolving again in 2014. The group did not record any new material during this second incarnation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pogues

Irish/Celtic arms, armor and tactics is kind of an interesting subject, but I couldn't find much that's concise or very interesting in small doses to share. The takeaway I've always gotten from looking at the subject is that while they made things interesting when fighting among themselves, they were at a severe disadvantage when they met the Vikings and then the Normans.

Well, the Vikings and Normans didn't play fair, as they were in the habit of sobering up before a fight. Without armor, and light-infantry based, the Celts had a hard time against the organization and technology of the Romans, the axes and techniques of the Vikings, and the armor and horses of the Normans. This is especially true of the Irish, who had little-to-no contact with the Romans, who could have taught them something, if it weren't for all the oppression and imperialism. "What have the Romans ever done for us?" Remember that the Romans never set foot in Ireland, so the Irish/Irish Celts are unique. 824.) Swamp Fox - 03/26/2018

Yeah, Heuneberg was one of the things I learned...as in I had never even heard of any such thing. I was always under the impression that the Celts never progressed much beyond thatch-roofed huts. But this is the kind of stuff they never touched on in high school World History.
830.) Swamp Fox - 03/27/2018
Well, besides the possible influence from the south, there is the interesting point of weapons influence from the west. Both contradict the traditional narrative that the Celts emerged from central Europe and spread from there.

:poke::poke:
LOL! Sorry, I've been preoccupied all day by a last-minute need to host the family 's annual crawfish boil. Normally it's at my sis-in-law's house, and her husband and I team up to handle things. But they called last night with news that he was down with bronchitis and under in-house quarantine. So the festivities shifted to our house, with only me on boil duty....so I've been as busy as the proverbial one-legged ass-kicking event competitor. It's bad enough that I had to drive 75 miles round-trip to pick up the bugs at the store he'd ordered them from...but when they brought out the case I was immediately met by the smell that is an unmistakable indication that a significant # of the bugs were already dead. I pointed that out, and one of the counter guys claimed crawfish always smell that way. Only one nodded his head in agreement with my assessment, while the manager and two others claimed it just smelled like seafood. And these are guys working the meat and seafood dept of a major supermarket chain. But I was able to convince the manager...who confessed that he was from California and knew nothing about crawfish (not that you'd need that sort of specialized experience to recognize the smell of dead and decaying critters)...that this was NOT my first rodeo, and that I'd dealt with this situation several times in the past. So the manager had another guy open the box and bag, pour them into a huge double sink and sort through them to see who was right. When he finished the job he'd found that roughly half (16 lbs out of a 30-35 lb sack) were still alive and fit to be sold. Delbert Dumbass, who claimed that bugs always smell like rotting flesh, chimed in at that point to further predict that the limp crustaceans in the reject sink were just "cold", and would certainly show signs of life as they warned up. I half expected him to then tell me that they were shagged out from having a good squawk, and were pinin' for the fjords. Counting guy just rolled his eyes, boxed up the survivors and discounted the cost based on the loss. I'm going to send corporate an e-mail letting them know that they've got exactly one guy in that dept who has his act together, and he needs a raise. So...I'm afraid you'll have to pay for another 5 minutes. 847.) Swamp Fox - 04/02/2018

BTW, here's what my son and I had on Saturday:
I've eaten a lot of 'gator, but it's always been either fried or pan blackened. This is the first time I've had one whole smoked, and it was by far the best I've ever tasted. I'm going to have to give it a try at home some time if I can fold the tail around on one of the smaller ones so I can get it to fit inside my grill (it would never work in my vertical smoker). Luckily, the good folks at Louisiana Crawfish Co. will overnight a whole skinned (except for the feet and head) 'gator right to your front door... 850.) DParker - 04/02/2018
Sounds fantastic. Is there a lot of meat on a gator?
That's a good question. There were just over 100 people at this event, and with 2 small 'gators that appeared to be about 5' or so everyone got just enough for a couple of mouthfuls. I can't find anything definitive, but I've seen estimated yields ranging anywhere from 16%-40% of usable meat based on live weight, with the lower end estimates coming from people complaining that they thing they got screwed by their game processor. It's mostly on the tail, as you might expect. That's also where all the fat is, which is what soaks up most of the smoke...so it ended up being the tastiest part. But there was also a fair amount of meat along the back on on the legs as well, and it was all good. I'm also reading that how much useful meat you get depends on what you're using it for. For instance, if you're making sausage then you'll like be using scraps that you might otherwise not bother with. I'm guessing the hide is fairly heavy, so hopefully that would mean that the yield from a skinned 'gator would be decent compared with the weight you're being charged for. It certainly isn't cheap, no matter what...but I think it would be a fun thing to do for a family get-together. I know my granddaughter would get a kick out of it. 851.) DParker - 04/02/2018
OK, here's some better info: University of Florida, IFAS Extension: Increasing the Profitability of Florida Alligator Carcasses
It appears to be a somewhat complex issue that hinges on a number of factors, but there are tables on page 7 that say that for farm-raised 'gators the commercial processing yields tend to hover somewhere around the 40% mark. 852.) bluecat - 04/02/2018
Interesting, I don't know how that compares to deer but I'm guessing that is probably close. All thing being equal of course - sausage/no sausage, organs/no organs.
I bet you could do the pit thing with a gator like what is done with a pig. I'm still kicking around the idea of doing that someday. 853.) bluecat - 04/02/2018
What gator I've had was really good. It was meaty like pork and mild in flavor.
Ten slaughter-weight gators (5 to 7 1/2 feet) were transported to the University of Florida's Meat Laboratory. The gators were weighed and then exsanguinated by severing the spinal cord at the base of the skull with a knife. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_McGrath 987.) Swamp Fox - 06/18/2018
McGrath is pronounced "McGraw" in this song.
Song and Ballad – Master McGrath Eighteen sixty eight being the date and the year, Those Waterloo sportsmen and more did appear; For to gain the great prizes and bear them awa', Never counting on Ireland and Master McGrath. On the twelfth of December, that day of renown, McGrath and his keeper they left Lurgan town; A gale in the Channel, it soon drove them o'er, On the thirteenth they landed on fair England's shore. And when they arrived there in big London town, Those great English sportsmen all gathered round - And one of the gentlemen gave a "Ha! Ha!" Saying, "Is that the great dog you call Master McGrath?" And one of those gentlemen standing around Says, "I don't care a damn for your Irish greyhound," And another he laughs with a scornful "Ha! Ha! We'll soon humble the pride of your Master McGrath." Then Lord Lurgan stepped forward and said, "Gentlemen, If there's any among you has money to spend - For your grand english nobles I don't care a straw - Here's five thousand to one upon Master McGrath." Then McGrath he looked up and he wagged his old tail, Informing his lordship, "I know what you mane, Don't fear, noble Brownlow, don't fear them, agra, For I'll tarnish their laurels," says Master McGrath. And Rose stood uncovered, the great English pride, Her master and keeper were close by her side; They have let her away and the crowd cried "Hurrah!" For the pride of all England – and Master McGrath. As Rose and the Master they both ran along, "Now I wonder," says Rose, "what took you from your home; You should have stayed there in your Irish domain, And not come to gain laurels on Albion's plain." "Well, I know," says McGrath, "we have wild heather bogs But you'll find in old Ireland there's good men and dogs. Lead on, bold Britannia, give none of your jaw, Stuff that up your nostrils," says Master McGrath. Then the hare she went on just as swift as the wind He was sometimes before her and sometimes behind. Rose gave the first turn according to law; But the second was given by Master McGrath. The hare she led on with a wonderful view. And swift as the wind o'er the green field she flew. But he jumped on her back and he held up his paw "Three cheers for old Ireland," says Master McGrath. I've known many greyhounds that filled me with pride, In the days that are gone, but it can't be denied, That the greatest and the bravest that the world ever saw, Was our champion of champions, great Master McGrath. 988.) I like Prine with Raitt more than Raitt by herself on this song, for some reason, though Raitt solo owned the tune for a long time. Maybe I've just heard those versions too much. I was reminded of a few things while standing in line, though: Apparently pot is still a popular commestible; if your underwear is showing more than half-way down you are the man to speak to about getting some pot; skateboarding is still a thing and at some point became "multi-cultural" (so that's prolly a big win); and the staff at the DMV can be separated into at least four categories which I should probably not try to explain on short notice, except to say that some are competent and the others are not. 1000.) I posted these guys when I learned about them a couple of years ago and they were only known for doing Chicago tunes. Now they've expanded into Earth, Wind & Fire territory, and doing just as good a job of it. The young lady on vocals is a nice bonus.

People in the area still say that on her deathbed, Anne saw black cats on the walls and could hear and smell bacon frying.

The David Gilmour concert in 2016 is considered the first concert in Pompeii's amphitheater since the city was covered in up to 20 feet of volcanic rock and ash in 79 A.D. The 1971 Pink Floyd production (first video) was just a few friends and some roadies, with some local lunatics in the hall.

I wonder how ancient Pompeiians distributed the band t-shirts before the invention of the t-shirt air cannon. Ballistas? Though it seems like that would have been a bit rough on the fans.

Up until a few years ago when I discovered the blues I was one of those people who thought Bonnie Raitt was just a country/western singer (because that's where she was making money when I first heard of her), being utterly ignorant of her real roots as a damned good blues artist. In addition to being a fine solo act, she's done some really good duets with many of the legends of the genre.

 Two great picks, DP! ...
I think a lot of people probably picked up on Bonnie Raitt somewhere around here --- I can tell some good stories around this song/era-- while all along there was a lot of other stuff going on .... Sorry for the audio on this first one below; it's all I could find ... But Bonnie and Little Feat or any Bonnie around that time (mid 70's to mid 80's or thereabouts) was top notch, semi-under-the-radar stuff ... LOL  1235.) Swamp Fox - 10/27/2019
Here's the album version where you can actually hear the backing vocals... Bonnie is one of the three, but unfortunately Emmylou is not. I haven't located a version (tonight) where you can hear Emmylou, but I think there might be one out there. Can't say I ever noticed the backing vocals weren't coming through as they should on that version (MNS) above until just now. That's beer for you. :tap: :-)
1236.) Swamp Fox - 10/27/2019
Late adopters might have found Bonnie Raitt in the 90's pop iteration ... Still kick-ass ....
1237.) Swamp Fox - 10/27/2019
The only Bonnie Raitt song I think I could live without (off the top of my head, LOL) is this one, and that's possibly only because it's over-played.

One of the Big Three hook-n-bullet magazines (I think it was F&S) recently made mention that the elk-hunting scene from The Last Of The Mohicans is the best pump-up video for hunting season, which makes me believe they read HuntingCountry since I made that point quite a while back.
I posted a version of the scene without text (I think) one or two years ago, but cannot locate an equivalent now. If anyone can find something, I would appreciate the tip. (Filmed in NC, BTW) All I can find now is abbreviated and has text scrolls. So I'm gonna skip that and post this instead: 1277.) Swamp Fox - 12/12/2019

The fact remains that Hawkeye abandons the girls and the British tourists in the cave behind the waterfall instead of fighting for them, a concept I do not remember from the book.
