1.) Alex - 10/13/2022
I'm getting cascading error emails on the forum which are most likely from MSQL vulnerabilities / exploits from hacking bots.Too many to keep ignoring.
There is little I can do without upgrading the forums to latest versions of VB (its a decade out and will not only basically be a forum reset but too expensive). I'm making some changes via filters in kind of a last ditch attempt, but letting you guys know (all 5 of your lol) that I think fate has finally caught up with the forum. If you guys are on facebook (many arent i Know) i would be more than happy to get a HuntingCountry group going where you could gather. I know I know. But the mysql exploits are creating a real risk for me for all the databases running on the server. Way beyond HC.com Just lettin ya know... Alex 2.) Swamp Fox - 10/13/2022

So, can the forum exist in a suspended state with, say, no new posts but as a searchable reference?
Lots of good stuff on here... Okay, mostly jokes and recipes and music videos, but what is best in life? 9.) Alex - 10/13/2022
not likely. It's not posting that is causing the issue. Its exploits being called simply through the url. I just blocked a massive block of IPs tonight.
again. 10.) Swamp Fox - 10/13/2022

We’d better get to work, boys....
DP, you're in charge of preserving cooking threads and any good firearms or political posts that hold up to time. Bluecat, your mission is to save your own best threads/posts and grab your nominees for "The Best of The Forum" especially haikus, jokes, and stories about Luv2 (fictional or real). Me, I’m catatonic at the thought of losing this ship, but have started to scour the holds to salvage what cargo I can. 14.) Swamp Fox - 10/13/2022
You know, if anyone comes across any of CrOokEdEYe'S old posts, we should encase them in amber....
I was gonna say enshroud, but that would not be right ... :wink 15.) bluecat - 10/14/2022
It's hard to put into words how much this forum has meant to me. It has allowed me to get to know some really great people, share my interests and also learn from them. It has been a release from pent up political and daily frustrations. It has caused me to sometimes laugh uncontrollably as I recount a thread at a later time.
For the record, the funniest post I ever read was Swampy's post in the horse thread. "%^&* you and the horse you rode in on." To this day it still makes me smile. As a close second was DParkers post where he posted a picture on all the cuts of meat with regards to some PETA news. Also in the running was Hoyt_em's post where Dorge from Firenock was soliciting suggestions for a t-shirt. Hoyt_em outlined all of Dorge's technical information on the sleeves, front and back of shirt. As you recall Dorge had all this lengthy boring technical information he was constantly putting out there. It's really sad but I hope to keep in touch with Swamp gas and Dparker. Even if it's just to say 'hello'. 16.) bluecat - 10/14/2022
Is there any way to copy a thread without having to copy and paste each separate page which also brings in a bunch of unwanted html?
17.) DParker - 10/14/2022
From what I'm seeing on the vBulletin user forums the software has no built-in "export" function for thread contents. There are SQL queries one can run against the software's MySQL database to extract all of the data for a given thread, but without embedding that in some custom application the output isn't going to be readily usable. There do appear to be one or two 3rd party apps available for this purpose (outputting the content in JSON or some other standard format), but I don't know if they work well or should be trusted to be run on your system.
I could develop something if I had the time and the DB schema, but it sounds like the time is a luxury that we don't have. 18.) bluecat - 10/14/2022
Thanks for looking into that.
19.) bluecat - 10/14/2022
Maybe Alex could give us the database on a thumbdrive? Dont' know how big it would be but he could delete most the forums and just leave the meat depending on how the database is laid out and if he has access to it.
20.) DParker - 10/14/2022
It has allowed me to get to know some really great people

Maybe Alex could give us the database on a thumbdrive? Dont' know how big it would be but he could delete most the forums and just leave the meat depending on how the database is laid out and if he has access to it.
If Alex wouldn't be averse to providing the DB, or even just an extracted subset thereof, and make it available to us on Google Drive, an FTP site or other mechanism I would invest the time and effort required to extract thread/post content that anyone is interested in preserving. But that's an imposition on his time and effort (as well as possibly resulting in the sharing of information from the DB he would rather not publish), so I would neither expect it of him nor complain at all if he isn't able to, or simply isn't inclined to do so. 22.) When it arrives, he reads the instructions. All the farmer needs to do is place the cow's udder in the device's tubes and press a button. The rest is automatic. However, the farmer is extremely lonely, so he decides to try the machine out on himself. He slides his johnson into one of the tubes and presses the button. The machine starts whirring and the suction begins. After an hour of fun, the farmer is finished. He presses the button again, but the device doesn't turn off. He can't pull out and sees no other way to stop the machine. Frantic, the farmer finds the customer service number in the instructions and calls with his cell phone. "I ordered your milking machine and used it on, um, one of my cows," he tells the customer service rep on the other end. "How do I get it off?" "Oh, don't worry" the rep responds. "The machine automatically releases once it collects two gallons of milk." Ryan Murphy Reply Reply With Quote + Reply to Thread Page 23 of 23 First ...13212223
LOL ...:grin::grin: 29.) The reason these are hard to find is that the content evolved and didn't start out as a pun thread. This angered so many people that they were forced to have a laugh and come out of their little carbon/aluminum shells and lighten the *&^( up.

Got the Vagina Thread.
Gonna double check 'cause I don't want to let it slip away... But I thought y'all would like to relive the way it ended ... It only took a few more years before we managed a story thread on here ...LOL
Swamp Fox: LOL..We used to do a running story line on an other forum I was on...One guy would start off telling a story, for example "The Hunting Country Gang Hunts the Abominable Snowman", "The HuntingCountry Gang Goes Snipe Hunting", "The HuntingCountry Gang's Great Texas Pig Hunt"---You get the idea-- One guy would start and then he would trail off in mid sentence...And the next person would pick up the story however he wanted to, and he'd trail off...And then the next guy...And the next guy... I think there were only three rules: 1) You couldn't write story lines about yourself (e. g., I couldn't write ..."And then Swampy kissed the hedgehog"----Someone else would have to make me kiss the hedgehog...And if someone had me kiss a hedgehog, I couldn't write "...And Swampy LIKED IT!" or try to get out of the situation. You could try to turn the story in a different direction less bruising to your ego if you saw a plot twist that might let you escape or turn the tables on another member, though, but whether you got out of the situation was completely dependent on whether other members wrote you out of it themselves. 2)You couldn't make consecutive posts. If I wanted to throw a twist into the story, I'd have to wait until another member posted, and I would have to follow his story line at least a little before I tried to connect it to my story line. 3)The thread had to have something to do with bowhunting, whether it was an abominable snowman, sasquatch, deer, hogs, bears or chipmunks. Basically, The HC Gang Goes Bow Hunting....You get the picture. I think a rifle or a shotgun slipped ito the stories a time or two, but the main focus was archery. So for an example: BlueCat: One morning, as Floyd was having his breakfast pie, he wondered what the HC gang was up to, since none of them were posting on the forum. Pulling out his trusty government Blackberry, the one with all the missing emails, he dialed DParker, who was under a Florida pier pulling the legs off starfish. Fortunately, DP had his smartphone in his bathing suit even though he was on vacation. It was uncomfortable, since the smartphone had a lot of apps on it and was about the size of smartphone, and his bathing suit was the size of a Speedo. But DParker didn't mind. He answered the phone with a... Swampy: ...quote capture, and then made an early 1980's movie reference. Floyd understood it immediately, since all he did in the '80s was watch movies and eat Cheezy Poofs in his beanbag chair. Therefore, he had an encyclopedic knowledge of 80's movies, though not necessarily the type you could take your daughter to, no matter how old she was. For this, he blamed Bluecat, who led him down the wrong path as a young man, when all he had really wanted to do was jump out of perfectly good airplanes, drive a bulldozer, build forts and stuff, and keep the world safe for pastry. But only the right kind of pastry. Some pastries are more equal than others. Floyd said... Deerminator:..."What up, dog? How's the fishing? I was just thinking about..." Hunter: "...changing my recipe for beer can chicken, and..." Bullz-i; "...then Jon called and said he likes spinach, which..." Luv2: "...made me think of Deerminator for some reason. We should get him in on this call." And so they did. DParker had an app for conference calls on his smartphone, and made it so. The phone rang at Deerminator's house where... DParker ...some super-human beaver from the creek out back was building a den in the den, which seemed redundant, but Deerminator was letting it slide. Deerminator answered and said "Hey, man, I was just... Bluecat: "...turning up some heavy metal while I eat some delicious carp for breakfast and..." Swampy: "...then I thought, 'Naw, I did that yesterday. How about turning up some heavy metal while I eat some delicious carp for breakfast?' when Bluecat called in on the other line and so I turned up the volume and ...." DP: ."..wondered if the late 70's/early 80's had all been a blur for nothing" and just then... Swampy: ...Floyd interrupted and said he was going to tear his hair out if somebody didn't get to the point of the call. So DParker pointed out that Floyd was the one who started all this by making the first call in the first place, and proved it by going back and muti-quoting the entire conversation thus far. Floyd was about to drop it when... Luv2:... his stubborn pill kicked in. Fortunately, Deerminator saved the day and asked if everybody was as bored as he was since nothing was going on on the forum, and both Dparker and Floyd said yes, which was strange because DParker was on a great beach vacation and Floyd was on painkillers. But anyway.... Hunter:..you look at it, it was clear that everyone needed to go hunting, and so the three of them hatched a plan to... Swamp Fox: ...go beaver hunting at Crookedeye's as soon as they could get everybody together. D thought it best to leave the beaver at his house alone, since he was still gathering his strength from that incident at the Justin Bieber concert...One day, though, he was gonna get that beaver! Floyd suggested DParker organize the hunt, and so he... Bluecat: ...started to do some research. The first thing to do, DParker thought, was to... AND THEN EVERYTHING GOES DOWNHILL FROM THERE....LOL Maybe we can give it a whirl when everybody back on the board after 4th of July,, LOL... We can probably get one "HC Gang" hunt in before everybody gets all excited about this year's deer contest. I think what i will try and do is extract the relevant tables (forum/thread/post/user) and reconstruct them in a searchable database outside of Vbulletin.
AT least that way the data will survive in some form. 60.) bluecat - 10/17/2022
