1.) crookedeye - 07/28/2019
I finally got my guns back from the cops, I'm thinking about getting a scope for my 22 Winchester lever action. What's a good scope for under 200 bucks
2.) bluecat - 07/28/2019
I bought a nikon scope for my browning .22 and I think it was under 200.00 at the time. I think it's a 4x. Nice little scope.
3.) crookedeye - 07/29/2019
I'm kind a looking for a short compact scope, I should have mention
4.) bluecat - 07/29/2019
There will be recommended scopes for that rifle. My Nikon buckmasters was made for .22s. It's not as big as a regular high powered rifle scope.
5.) DParker - 07/29/2019
How far under $200 are you wanting to stay? That could really narrow things down with regard to short/compact rimfire scopes. And how short are you looking for? Just something under 10" or so? Or something more along the lines of a "tactical" optic? Also...what kind of shooting are you going to use it for? Benchrest target-plinking? Perforating bunnies/squirrels?
6.) crookedeye - 07/29/2019
Yes under 10 inches would be nice. I don't care 200, 300 bucks hundred bucks I'm not going to spend too much though I think I'll set itA inch high at 25 yards hopefully be deadly after 50
7.) crookedeye - 07/29/2019
Maybe set it dead on at 20 yards
8.) crookedeye - 07/29/2019
The squirrels will Fear me...

Look at Weaver, or some of the refurbished scopes at Natchez. I haven't been in the market for a .22 scope for a while, and I'm a Leupold guy (Gold Ring, baby!) but I put a Weaver rimfire model on a lever-action for an inexpensive scope on a rifle that kept falling out of the canoe, and was quite pleased with it.

The challenge is finding a mounting system that works and that you like.

10.) Swamp Fox - 07/30/2019
I see that Leupold is no longer interested in making rimfire scopes I would buy (Must haves: adjustable objective, < 40 mm bells), with this possible exception:

So, if you can find one of these used or as a display model and get a good deal on it, I would recommend it for a good rifle:

Norman seems to have his finger on the pulse of the shooting life ...

[QUOTE]Best Rimfire Scope Reviews
by Norman Turner - Last updated July 27, 2019

Rimfire ammo is sold mostly in small calibers, nowadays. It’s cheap, and you can buy a few thousand rounds, all at once. And, while .22 Long Rifle isn’t as cool as .308 Winchester or .223 Remington, it does have its purpose.

[...]

So, then, which is better? Centerfire or rimfire? It all depends on how you’re using it, of course.

You certainly wouldn’t want to use .22LR to hunt big game. A bear would take your head off before you stopped it, and a lion would be feasting on you while its cubs chewed up your rifle. And unless you took out an elephant’s eye, it would sneeze at you, which would probably be more deadly your .22 rifle, no matter how long it is.

On the other hand, you wouldn’t want to use 12 gauge buckshot to plink at targets or gather up a bunch of varmints for a meal. The only thing left of the rabbit would be a chunky spray of blood, and buckshot is bloody expensive to use when shooting at paper targets.

So, neither type of round is better than the other, so long as you use a bit of logic in deciding which gun to shoot.

LOL ... When was the last time Leupold sold a VX-1? I'm gonna say a year-and-a-half before this listicle was "updated."

It goes on from there but I can't edit to put the link up on that post again ...

The other reviews are amusing as well ... Some are not even rimfire scopes, LOL

One of my favorite things about crap listicle reviews is the dig-deep analysis. Someday I too hope to pull in tens of dollars every month in passive income from affiliate marketing with insightful comments like this, which will encourage loyal readers to return again and again to my site:

Hoo-boy!

I just looked on ebay for these scopes and they're selling for more than the original MSRP now, even used.

So feel free to disregard my previous advice about trying to find one at a good deal, though the little guy on my other shoulder keeps whispering, "There's gotta be at least one desperate dummy out there who doesn't know what he's got."

I wonder if Leupold knows how badly it's screwing up.
