there was a story back in 1898 when a traveler from the eastern parts documented over 1000 of miles of travel..when arriving at a location depleted of food water and shelter said he encountered numerous sightings of a lizard like creature..
15.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2018
Despite best efforts, state agencies have been no help:
16.) bluecat - 01/22/2018
CE, tell us any stories about moth man if you've got 'em.
17.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2018
You know the one thing I don't associate with Nebraska?
Ghost stories. Maybe in the western part of the state, though, with the spirits of old cowboys, cavalrymen and Indians ... Probably some spooky pioneer women, too. Okay, so maybe it's not ghosts, but it's strange creatures that don't come from Nebraska ... Wait ... 18.) Swamp Fox - 01/22/2018
I bet New Mexico has plenty of ghost stories ...
19.) crookedeye - 01/22/2018
in the 1960's the mothman better known as apesitiseuriles. was seen in the south east corner of florida..known for there fruit agricultural and humid weather the mothman was seen by two campers in which one camper discribe the mothman as a giant moth..
20.) crookedeye - 01/22/2018
...better known as apesitiseuriles.
I had those once. Man, they were painful. 22.) crookedeye - 01/22/2018
these are true storys..
23.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2018
I told the story on here a long time ago about being followed on an old jeep road by something in a WWI trenchcoat one time. It was a foggy morning in mid-November. The figure disappeared as I tried to signal to it. Faded into the edge of the woods. I still don't know what happened ...
This was before blaze orange, and I didn't get a deer that day, either, as I recall. 24.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2018
I'm always thankful it wasn't one of these guys :
25.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2018
I once killed a squirrel with a .22 and couldn't figure out where I'd hit him. I think I might have just scared him to death. It was right after my mom died, so I took it as some kind of sign and had it mounted. Kind of a little guy. One of the cats chewed his ear pretty good before I put him in a safer spot.
26.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2018
This pic is from Crookedeye's most memorable hunting trip, except for the one where the angry doe tried to mount him:
This one evokes hunting in California. I've only done it once, for turkeys, but this seems about right.
27.) DParker - 01/23/2018
LOL!
28.) Jon - 01/23/2018
I was in my woods messing around with some dead wood and this thing flew out from under the pile. I had my little Boston Terrier Izzie with me and the thing (I think it was a fox) ran around us a few times and then started barking at us. I was scared for my life so I drew my pistol and shot it right in the face.
I'd always wanted to try taxidermy so this was my first go 29.) bluecat - 01/23/2018
I saw one of those once. Horrific. Mine was the dark phase. I was putting a minnow on my line when I looked up and there it was, eyeing me and my bait. I got the hell out of there. I left my pole, tackle box, Playboys, everything. 30.) luv2bowhunt - 01/23/2018
Elk Junky's posts still hovering around the 1 mark. Can't believe the CroOKeDeYE stories didn't bring out a few questions.
31.) bluecat - 01/23/2018
If nothing else, you'd think he would inquire about the fox's invisaligns.

Once I have them on and flip them off I'm as blind as a Democrat on an ethics committee. I had to climb down and crawl around on my hands and knees trying to find them. While I'm down on all fours I hear something coming and just stay frozen on the ground. It came right by me and to this day I'm not sure if it was deer or a herd of mountain lions. Or possibly a pack of coyotes that the PA Game Comm. imported to secretly reduce the deer population to appease the Insurance Companies. 33.) bluecat - 01/23/2018
Was Ned Beatty anywhere nearby?
34.) luv2bowhunt - 01/23/2018
Was Ned Beatty anywhere nearby?
No, those people all live down in the south, especially in the Carolina's. 36.) Jon - 01/23/2018
Good one Luv2, although I'm now vision impaired, I had a similar experience when I was much younger and could see perfectly. Was walking into the woods at my parents house at several hours before light, it was dark, like black dark. I knew those woods and could get to my stand without any light until I heard the sound of a 4 legged creature walking. I leaned against a tree so as not to spook it and the leaf crunching got louder and louder until it was on top of me. It got right next to me and stopped, I could hear it breathing but I couldn't see it.
I assume it was a buck but can't confirm. It stood right there, didn't move for probably 15 minutes. That seemed like the longest 15 minutes of my life. Could have been a Chupacabra or maybe even Loch Nessy 37.) Swamp Fox - 01/23/2018

I always like to hear "in the dark" stories from guys who live where there are a lot of bears or coyotes or wolves. When I was the new guy in a club in SC about 25 years ago, I was warned about the panther that liked to hang out near the edge of the swamp I was going in and out of. I figured they were yanking my chain, but the wasp's nest on the low overhanging branch on the trail in was real enough, and they told me about that, too, so maybe ... 39.) DParker - 01/23/2018

Could have been a Chupacabra or maybe even Loch Nessy
I know that feeling. Two years ago I was in to the stand early and was at the base of the tree in the dark getting stuff together before I headed up the tree. I had done a scent drag up to the base of my tree. As I'm squatting in the dark I hear something approaching behind me. It keeps getting closer and I just try to get down as low as I can in the dark. Eventually it walks right up behind me, like just a few feet away. I could hear it sniffing and after what seemed like 5 minutes it eventually walks away. Not knowing for sure what something is behind or beside you in the dark, is a creepy feeling. 42.) Ohbuckhunter - 01/24/2018
One time at band camp
43.) bluecat - 01/24/2018
Okay fellas, I'm not comfortable telling you this and haven't spoken of it since it happened. It still puts shivers down my spine. About 5 years ago I was on an evening bowhunt. I had gotten there in the afternoon and was enjoying the peace and solitude. I seemed to hear a beeping sound and some laughter. It wasn't normal laughter but more like a goofy laughter. Now mind you I'm in a very remote area with no buildings or houses for miles. I hear this occasionally throughout the afternoon. Needless to say I never saw a deer or any wildlife that afternoon. No squirrels, no birds, nothing. As the afternoon waned I'm getting more and more uncomfortable and decide to leave while there is still some light.
As I'm retracing my steps back through the woods, I caught a glimpse of something up ahead about 200 yards. Clowns. Maybe three. The stark contrast between the purple pants, red suspenders and slick white head made it easy to identify. They were moving just ahead of me and every now and then one of them would look back. As I approached the area cautiously I could see where they had been. There was a strand of orange yarn, size 18 shoe prints and a roll of lime green tape that one of them had pulled out of its mouth. At this point I'm doubling my efforts to get back to the truck. Here's where it gets weird. I made it back to the Blazer, unlocked it and threw all of my crap in the back. Came around the driver's side and to my left I saw them - a small set of tire tracks maybe 3 feet wide and positioned parallel to mine. They had just left the area before I got there. Still gives me the willys. 44.) DParker - 01/24/2018

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you...but that's what happens when you use pastrami for your scent drag. 45.) Jon - 01/24/2018
Speaking of scent drags.......went hunting with an old GF while she was menstruating, it was during the rut. She and I were only 80yds apart and I watched a beautiful heavy horned buck come right in on her trail and proceed to march directly to her and sniff her ladder. I was just waiting for her to put an arrow through this buck and to this day, I have no idea why she didn't. As awesome as that was, I'd take my chances alone before ever even seeing her again. Evil
