I was interested in that rifle a while back. It's possible it was its predecessor, but I think it was the II.
It's an impressive rifle. I don't think they've made them for several years, which makes you wonder what you have in your hands after the UPS guy heads for his next stop. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new one---Well, it would be better if the gun fairy left one under my pillow----but no way would I buy used. I vaguely recall there were some problems or at least controversies with Savage-supplied load data, but I'd like to hear more from these metallurgists because something doesn't smell right there. Looking forward to the genius tag team of Giffords and Liz Warren to jump in the ring on this. They might have their hands full misrepresenting reciprocity legislation, though. 3.) Ouch.

The best thing about stories like this on the innerweb is that you can identify the people you need to keep some distance from as Darwin works his magic:
Sue---20 minutes ago We still eat hamburgers because no one goes around shooting cows in the wild. That’s the difference gun nuts. YOU are killing for pleasure. NOT for necessity!
5.) bluecat - 12/07/2017
Poor Sue,
...pass the spotted owl please. 6.) Swamp Fox - 12/07/2017
John--1 hour ago I have fired many rifles in my life and have yet to see one that can "load two bullets" into the chamber before firing. What nonsense.
7.) Swamp Fox - 12/07/2017
Pot, meet kettle:
Basil A---2 hours ago Why does that "muzzleloader" have a bolt action? Morons!
8.) Swamp Fox - 12/07/2017

Another reason not to wear wedding ring in field.

I double loaded my TC Encore once, made a bigger than normal noise but other than that, no issues. Thankfully my face wasn't blown off my head

I know a guy who bulged a barrel (modern centerfire, .270 Win.) just by leaving a cleaning rod in. I can't imagine how freaked out I'd be about a barrel I double-loaded.
(Did you double-load or just double-stack the bullets?) |
