Within the last couple of weeks, a local high school in a semi-rural area which has always had hunting going on around it went into lockdown for a few hours when a teacher reported a single gunshot from somewhere in the woods nearby. Local TV reported on the panic, predictably regurgitating tweets from people who had no clue what was going on and nothing insightful to say, because ... modern journalism.
Also, there have been a number of stories "in the paper" and on TV about two collared white dogs that were killed by arrows one recent afternoon in a suburban area not far away. The dogs ran away from their owners, who were exercising them off-leash on public game lands (on or near bow-only areas) and weren't found for some time. Reporting has focused on the idea that the owners had no idea hunting was going on in the area, and to a lesser extent that whoever shot the dogs "could be" in trouble. I'm interested in gathering some stories from elsewhere along these lines, to highlight how people come together :re:. If you have links, all the better. I'm putting this in Hunting, but I'm interested in fishing conflicts, too. Nothing like friction over who can dunk a line at which dock to get your day off to a good start. 2.) Jon - 11/28/2017
Here's the worst type of conflict, being shot by a hunter......after legal time......with a pistol.....200yds away

Unbelievable. I wish places would quit reporting the shot was taken "in the dark," though, when they mention 40 minutes after sunset.
"After legal shooting hours" gets the message across without putting it in people's heads that 40 minutes after sunset is the problem. It was obviously part of the problem, but not the worst part. 4.) DParker - 11/28/2017
