The group views the centuries-old firearms technology, which was rendered obsolete shortly after the Civil War due to advancements in self-contained ammunition cartridges and semi-automatic; self-loading firearms, as dangerous because a silencer can legally be attached to it without the paperwork or tax stamp associated with other firearms silencers.
"Cue the .50 caliber muzzleloader, which delivers a particularly lethal .50 caliber round," the report said. "This weapon is designed with a built-in device to suppress its sound. If any other firearm were built with such a device, it would be subject to the NFA as a silencer. But since this device is designed to suppress the sound of something that is exempt from federal firearms laws, it is not considered a silencer and not subject to the NFA. In fact, it is not subject to any laws at all and can be bought online."
The group called on Congress to take action and pass new laws restricting muzzleloaders and the other products outlined in the report.

After 90 some-odd shots and a little experimenting, you'd think the reviewer would have hit on something a lot more accurate than what I'm getting the impression he found.
Other than as a novelty, I don't know why someone would buy one of these in its current design. Maybe this'll be the new thing for urban hunting, though, where you just can't have people flinging arrows around from high capacity quivers.

But, yeah...the validity of their concerns is made obvious by the rash of murders and other violent crimes committed every year by thugs with $1,000 suppressed muzzle-loaded black powder guns (yikes...and the name is racist to boot!) Of course we don't actually know about any such crimes....but we would if the evil ML manufacturers didn't build them with silencers!!!

Classic distraction.
It's hard to accommodate all your butthurt when it turns out the regulations you supported for regulations' sake were just so much fluff. So, you dig deeper to find some moral outrage and impugn the motives of those who found a way to work with your regulations in one of the few areas left open to them.
I doubt anti-capitalism was a motive, back in the day, for making suppressor ownership a huge PITA. Once people realize that the emperor has no clothes, though, it's convenient to suddenly discover greedy boogeymen under the bed.

You really need to be clairvoyant to save lives from gun violence with laws and regulations, and we are seeking righteous Americans with paranormal talent or at least a ouija board to rally to our cause. Given the mass of the projectile, the muzzle velocity and the fact that the rifle looks like it's very light, I'm surprised that the recoil wasn't more brutal than it appeared.

Some of the recoil effects seem to be between fairly mild and quite tolerable, some are just tolerable, and there are a few that seem to be mules. I think the video is trying to show the bullet weights increasing, but I don't know that the shots sync with the cutaways of the various bullets. I think the last shot that flips the log section up on end is definitely supposed to be the 1132 gr. bullet that the guy discusses later in the shop. If that shot was taken by the last shooter seen, I think there was probably some some damage to his dental work.
(Also, I appreciate that surprise guest shooter Stan Potts took a beating but came up grinning one or two rounds earlier. :wink)
I'll have to watch it again (!) to see if I can match up recoil to bullet weights shown. Fortunately, this video is now on my favorites playlist, so it won't be unpleasant work, LOL. I don't know if it's the music or the merriment involved in shooting a rifle you built yourself in WTF, but it has something goin' on ...
BTW, I saw an earlier video of the first shots with this gun (at least as a prototype) a while back, and recoil was quite mild if I'm remembering properly. I'm sure they had the first test rounds loaded down, but they did start off shooting it with a string from behind a barricade. :wink I don't remember if they explained what they had cooked up to start with.
