This was one of those things that had me deeply conflicted. One the one hand there was the adult part of me saying, "That was stupid and cruel, and that idiot is lucky the moose was too scared to turn around and stomp him to death." On the other hand, there's the sophomoric 20 year-old part of me that has never completely gone away, and had me laughing at the end and agreeing with the "Have you ever seen something so awesome?" guy. That same part of me would love to be able to legitimately cross "Ride a wild moose through a lake" off his bucket list.

It's probably one of those things that depends upon the outcome. If the moose had died of panic or been injured by the boat or by a 200-pound guy jumping on it, no one would be laughing.

On the other hand, if the [U]guy[/U] had been injured, there would be a lot of people who would say, "Serves him right." My guess is that if you read into the comments there will be more than a few people who WISH something had happened to him.

I can think of a few animal interactions I don't think we should laugh at that some others think are hysterical, and it works the other way around, too. I do think I'm just wired always to have at least some sympathy for the animal, though, while other people seem never to show any in these situations. It's ALL for S&Gs for that group.

We are a funny species.
