I thought it might be fun to post some pictures of some of our furry little creatures that live with us and provide a little background on them.

This is Alex. He is a genetic experiment gone awry. He is a cross between a hamster and a wolverine.

Favorite foods include watermelon, strawberries, pistachios, peanut butter, yogurt and dill flavored sunflower seeds
He is my little buddy that follows me wherever I go. After 10:00 he gets grouchy and growls at you if you attempt to pet him after his bedtime.
He is a constant magnet for burrs, stick-tights and mud. At least once during the night he'll jump on the bed and walk right on top of you. You have to cover up susceptible body parts.

So....a vicious killer that can run non-stop? Sounds like an awesome pet...and looks like a good dog.
3.) bluecat - 02/10/2017
LOL! Yep, that's a pretty good description. Has no tail and loves to run.

This was our last snow day:

The GSD is "Mia", and the Chow+Golden Retriever mix (as best we can tell) in the front is "Buster". She (Mia) is as intelligent as you'd expect a GSD to be, but an absolute coward. She'll bark and stand her ground if there are people or other animals outside, but anything loud or any kind of weather (storms, or even a windy day) and she's hiding behind my wife. Buster has more guts, but he's as dumb as a bag of hammers. Both are loyal, affectionate and protective of the house and everyone in it...and absolutely adore each other, so I guess there's that.

They look like fun pets. I'm sure watching them interact with each other is fun.

Swampy, I know you've got some vermin hangin' 'round. Post 'em up. Let's get to know them.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of pics, and virtually nothing digital. One of my regrets. If I had to give someone a piece of advice that I need to learn for myself, it would be to take a lot of pics of your animals (and people, too, LOL).

I haven't had a dog in a long time, though until she passed away, I always had at least one. I guess there's a story behind why I've never gotten another.

I had a bunch of house mice as pets for a while. There's a story behind that, too, LOL. I started with one and I'm not even gonna tell on myself how many I wound up with. They were fun. A lot of work cleaning mouse-houses, though.

Always wanted to have a squirrel or a raccoon or a fox, but the law makes it difficult if not impossible around here, where it wasn't an issue not too long ago.

I'll get back on here with some tales of the cat ranch later this weekend if I can.

Dude....they're not called "man's best friend" for nothing, y'know...

I'm all bummed out now.

Why? Because your days of picking up chicks with cute, furry animals are over? You still have witty banter, and even if that fails there has to be SOMETHING you can do to get some lovin'...

I had two of my little buddies trapped in the crawl space under the house today. My guess is that they got in there sometime the night before last when we had some really high winds come up that blew all day yesterday.

None of the cats made an appearance yesterday at all. When I noticed these two missing this morning I got worried, because that’s how they go missing permanently. Fortunately, one of the other little rascals showed me what the problem was with his feline impression of Lassie's "Timmy's fallen down the well" routine.

These two under the house are running buddies, and I was afraid one of them, who has a tumor, had crawled in there to hide and pass on in peace to the Great Big Catnip Farm In The Sky. If I said she was my favorite, it wouldn't be a lie, but don't tell the others.

Her buddy, though, is very shy and actually the only one who still won't let me touch her at all, and she certainly won’t come when called. (They were all born wild, and their tolerance for human interaction runs the gamut.)

So suffice it to say I was thinking worst case scenario all day long today.

Anyway, make a long story short, the more socialized one came out at the end of the day, finally, but it took another hour or so for the other one to screw up the courage. I'm trying to remember if she was one of the three that got locked in my truck for a few days last Christmas. I think so. That was a mess. Poor thing.

I'm still trying to figure out how they got under the house. (I know how the truck imprisonment happened.) I heard some noise behind one of the walls yesterday and some banging around outside for the last few nights, so I wonder if there's something outside scaring them.

I'm just a little too far north for the Lizard Man, I think. Something was running in the woods a few nights ago but I didn't get a good look at it. Or maybe they just found a way to get out of the high wind.

I guess tomorrow I'm crawling around down there and up on the roof looking for clues.

Before they even started.

LOL...

You guys...
Why?
I was feeling bad for you. Losing an animal friend is one step below despair.
16.) Swamp Fox - 02/13/2017
Tell me about it. I'm a special kind of mess, though. I took it hard when the MOUSES passed on...
