The first pic I saw of this broadhead (introduced last year) had a chisel tip, and I didn't know you could lock the mechanical blades down to shoot in fixed-mode-only. So I thought the whole thing was kinda nutty. Then I found out you could opt for a COC tip and do a lock of the mech blades. At that point, it started to make a little more sense.

I'm still skeptical of the "flies like a mech, cuts like a COC" marketing, though...LOL

A friend of mine who has gone from arrow company to arrow company, started off as Gm of one (Victory), went to own another (Deer Crossing Archery) and now has started a new broadhead company. This new company is called "Mangle Broadheads". I can't say what he's bringing to the table because he hasn't released anything about it. His name is Bart Lawhorn, he's a Ohio boy, was in the military and the company is in San Diego I believe.

AT can rub my puckerer, hate that place and the people who run it. I was one of the first 500 folks on that site and they have just gotten too big for their britches. I will never pay to sell something archery related and all the holier than thou folks on that site can stay lost as far as I'm concerned.
He sent me a quick video he's using as a trailer, doesn't show much and he's not talking. I guess we wait and see what he's up to.

Do you know if he's showing at the ATA?

Speaking of which, it was either last year or the year before (possibly both) that I couldn't find any decent/interesting coverage of new products at the ATA. Maybe there weren't any, LOL. My own impression of at least one of those years was that it was indeed a snoozefest.

If somebody on here sees anyone covering the ATA well, or sees anything interesting from the show, help a brother out and post a link. LOL

With regard to new-ish broadheads, Magnus has come out with a Black Hornet (last year I believe) that looks pretty deadly and supposedly flies like their stingers. I own 3 and might try them out on turkey this year.





One thing about any Magnus product, you just don't hear anything negative about them. Plus they take care of their customers.

That Magnus does look like a good turkey head.


The other thing I like about Magnus is that their company people interact on forums. I can't remember the main guy's name (John, maybe) but he used to be all over explaining about differences between designs and sharpening blades and what-not. Maybe he stil is, but I'm not reading a lot of archery forums these days. :shocked::shh::p

The only complaint I have about them is that the weights between heads could be more consistent.

Now that I say that, I'm wondering if I've noticed the same problem with G5.

I guess I'm getting a little rusty on details from the olden days when I was knee-deep in set-up trivia, LOL.

Yes, you are right, they have people that monitor the forums for questions, problems, suggestions etc. They have videos out of various things as well. It's a big company but they operate like a ma and pa shop.

The one thing I've noticed is that the serrated edge on their black hornets (ser-razor) and the stingers (buzzcut) leave devastating holes as compared to the plain blade models. I'm using the serrated blades now.

I have a thread I haven't posted up yet on sharpening their heads.
