All I ever find are spent shotgun hulls and beer cans.

Awesome. Imagine the history in that thing
3.) Swamp Fox - 09/07/2016
Cool. Viking swords and volcanically hot lingerie models...Iceland seems like an awesome country, LOL.

Think how many puffins you could roast at one time on that thing...I wonder if the tip broke at recovery or if it was just lying there to be easily found? A bit of a little miracle if the latter.

I guess the boys can give up hunting there for a while. I imagine the place will be crawling with archeologists for the foreseeable future.

I heard the other day about somebody somewhere who found some fossilized dinosaur vomit, I think. I wasn't really paying attention, but whatever it was it seemed like a big deal for some reason. I expect dinosaurs vomited quite a bit, considering what they ate, so I think there's probably plenty more out there. How would you even know what dinosaur vomit looks like to pick it up? It just looked like a hefty rock to me.

This sword is much more impressive. I wonder if you're required to turn something like that in to "the authorities" if you find it. Me, I'd keep it in my rod and gun room and show it only to close friends, or at least people who don't use GPS in their cars--people that I could trust. Though it would be tempting to be at the bar and ask interesting women if they'd like to go back to my place and see my Viking sword....

I think I could pull that off.

The question is would it be more awesome (forget about moral or philosophical questions for a minute, if you can control yourselves) to enjoy a find like this in the quiet of your own man cave, or would you want to share it with everyone and put it in a museum?

This is a good question for the social media generation, I think. There's a lot of sharing going on out there. I might not be wired for it, myself. In the immortal words of Bluto Blutarski, "Who's with me? Aaaaaaaye!!!"

At times like these, when big questions of life come up, I often ask myself, "What would Crookedeye do?" If he ever succeeds in finding Custer's hat and most of his dreams have come true, would he put it in a box in his closet, or build a special centipede-proof display case in his basement? Would he try to find some Lakota,, Northern Cheyenne or Arapaho Indians and give it to them, and how would he decide who was most worthy? Or would he wear it at the county fair and to Cornhusker football games and drink free on it for the rest of his life?

I just don't know.

So... anyhoo...these are the kind of questions I'll be thinking about for the rest of the day, and I hope they've given you all something to think about, too.

It's a good question. In this instance I would try to pull as many chicks as possible with it until the well was dry. Then I would donate it to a museum of some sort. If I had utilized a lot of resources in finding it (money, time, etc.), I would hope that some of those expenses could be met by the museum/donations. See the "Oak Island Money Pit" on History Channel. Fascinating series.

I can see CrookedEye actually using that sword during Renaissance Fair re-enactments and Cornhusker rallies.

+3 for the puffin reference and the "volcanically hot" descriptor.

Wouldn't you have to actually be able to meet a woman first before doing this?
10.) Swamp Fox - 09/07/2016
Yes.

I have all the steps in my head, in the right order, I think. :p

LOL...Is that a King Of Queens reference? I heard it somewhere recently...Not from a real live person, though, just so we're on the same page. LOL
14.) bluecat - 09/07/2016
Actually, I think it was.

You ask a lot of questions for someone from the Carolinas.

"Asdis Ran Gunnarsdottir" certainly is a mouthful.

I'll just leave it at that.
