Sitting on the throne half an hour ago (about 7:05 Central) I felt the house gently rocking back and forth. Sure enough, USGS is reporting a 5.6 quake about 285 miles from here near Pawnee, OK. Must've been a pretty stiff shake there for me to feel it that clearly here. I hope everybody's OK.

we felt it here to..the picture actually rattled, plus i started to get dizzy...
3.) DParker - 09/03/2016
Yeah, when I first felt it I thought I had some sort of inner ear thing going on. Then I looked up and saw the window blinds swaying back and forth and realized what was happening. I hadn't been awake for a noticeable quake since 1989 and had forgotten what it felt like.

It would have been really fun if it'd happened during a work day. My office is on the 9th floor, and you can feel the building sway in a good wind.

when i felt the tremors.. my first thought was to get into my bunker. which is an old 1970 van buried in the ground covered with pepple rock and 7 inches of concrete with a 8 inch pvc pipe as a blow hole. plus an unlimted suppy of rice and beans.. i figure i could survive for a few weeks.
5.) crookedeye - 09/03/2016
somtimes i worry about renagade people trying to survive, trying to smoke me out through my blowhole and stealing my rice..

Well, who doesn't?

Blame in on the injection wells down here in Dallas.
8.) DParker - 09/04/2016
Too late. I blamed it on Bush.
9.) crookedeye - 09/05/2016
you see stuff like this happen every day, who no's what tommorrow brings.. thats why i'm expanding my bunker system..yes its a system...maybe make a tunnel deeper to a bus or somthing with more blowholes..
10.) crookedeye - 09/05/2016
i'm going to have so many tunnels and safe zones that the renagades wont be able to smoke me out..plus i'll be able to store more rice and keep it safe..
11.) crookedeye - 09/05/2016
you can eat rice with anything..tuna, fish, chicken, meat.. when the chit goes down one of these days youre going to wish you had a bunch of rice..
12.) crookedeye - 09/05/2016
for sewage i have an elaborate septic tank which is beneath my bunker that could last for a year..all the sewage goes down a 6" pvc pipe that flows out to a lateral system..its all down hill ..so all you have to do is hang youre dinger out and go .. gravity takes care of the rest..

If you are eating rice and beans you might need a few more blowholes. "Better out than in, I always say."

My dog jumped up on the bed with us and was kinda fidgety. The house was definitely vibrating. Amazing you could feel it so far away.
15.) Swamp Fox - 09/06/2016
LOL...I'm glad to hear Crookedeye's prepared...A little concerned about the ventilation, though...

I suppose if he took a goldfish down there with him, that might survive. :wink

I don't like the canary's chances though.
