This really screws up the "Archery" vs "Firearms" gear categories scheme here: Crosman Pioneer Airbow
A bit pricey (it'll run you about $835 even through Amazon), but if it works as advertised it'd be an interesting alternative to crossbows for some, assuming it becomes legal to use on whitetail and other medium/large game in more than just 4 states (though it's legal for predators in quite a few though, and for hogs in nine, including TX). LOL, Bluecat.
Heck, get Eva to shoot it on camera and they'll make their R&D money back long before it becomes commonly legal. Here in NC, if the future is like the past, they'll make a special season for it by eliminating another prime week of bow season. The only question is whether it will be on the front end of muzzleloader season or the back. If they were smart, they'd put it IN muzzleloader season since that's been ruined anyway, but I'm not holding my breath. Those muzzleloading guys are mean cusses, or at least they used to be before pelletized powder made them soft. :wink Either that or we'll just get it over with, read the writing on the wall, and go to Any Legal Weapon, Any Time. The only thing that stands in the way is epic coyote predation or a population crash. Deer population or people population? ---You decide. :ek: 5.) bluecat - 07/21/2016
My first thought when I saw this was, I need to try this on Cape Buffalo...
We live in different worlds I guess. 6.) bluecat - 07/21/2016
Okay, that was my second thought. My first thought was, "where's Eva?"
7.) Swamp Fox - 07/21/2016
You know how Ted Cruz tells the story of his father coming here from Cuba "with a hundred dollars sewn in his underwear"? Every time he says that...I mean every time...I yell at the TV, "I've got a hundred dollars in my underwear right now!" I just can't help myself. LOL 8.) Swamp Fox - 07/21/2016
So that just goes to show you how first thoughts go...
But I agree, Eva is better. 9.) Swamp Fox - 07/21/2016
It seems that because it is not prohibited, it is allowed (except for turkeys) in both Carolinas. It looks like it is not considered archery equipment, though, so the way I read things, it's treated more like a centerfire rifle than anything else.

"That will be 15.23".
"Oh, (looking horrified) don't worry about it". 12.) Swamp Fox - 07/22/2016
That 77 cents in change is gonna cause a problem, too. :ek:

It appears he is more surprised that a gun could shoot an arrow than him being able to walk up to a "wild" buffalo and shoot it. 14.) Swamp Fox - 07/22/2016
The only buffalo I've been around seemed dumb as rocks. I had to pass one on a narrow trail one time, which put me quite close. I'll say 15 yards, but it could have been less. Probably more than 10. I don't think I'm THAT stupid. I was a bit nervous, but I figured, "Hey, I haven't been trampled by a moo cow yet, either, so what the hell."

What they lack in brains they more than make up for in brawn. That little lets-get-really-close-to-that-hairy-tank-with-horns exercise could have gone south really fast if that bison had been feeling particularly grumpy that day. 16.) Swamp Fox - 07/22/2016
Yeah, I'm not saying I would do it again, LOL.
17.) bluecat - 07/22/2016
The smaller the brain the more dangerous the critter. :wink
Watch the DNC if you don't believe. 18.) DParker - 07/22/2016

Actually, I was referring to the spot-and-stalk with the arrow gun....but yeah, I guess it applied to your situation as well. 19.) Swamp Fox - 07/22/2016
The beast just stared at me as I went slowly past.
I was hoping that telepathically I was putting out the vibe of a tall squirrel or bunny rabbit, or at least a vegetarian women's studies professor, rather than an apex predator. Whatever I did, it seemed to work, LOL. I did wonder if Shockey had firearm back-up off camera. 20.) Bob Peck - 07/25/2016
I'm more of a function versus form guy but man ... whomever designed that thing was from the cro magnon school of product design.
21.) Swamp Fox - 07/25/2016
So you're saying it's fugly?
That's why they need Eva to shoot it. :wink 22.) DParker - 07/25/2016
Oh, I don't know. It looked pretty good here:
23.) Swamp Fox - 07/25/2016
I saw something a while back about how movies gussy up weapons. Was it on here?
Let me see if I can find it. It's good for a few minutes of entertainment while the Dems rearrange the deck chairs in the convention hall... 24.) Swamp Fox - 07/25/2016
Couldn't find it on the web. Could have been a bad search or it could have been in the NRA magazine or somewhere off-line.
If somebody knows what I'm talking about, post it up. It showed how movie prop guys would take a soup can and turn it into an under-barrel grenade launcher, or an ordinary weapon like a Glock pistol, say, and turn it into a frickin' laser...:wink 25.) DParker - 07/25/2016

LOL...The Nerf gun looks familiar, but I'm not remembering the others.
So, I think it might have been the NRA magazine, which still doesn't have an on-line archive as far as I know () or maybe it wasn't as weapons-heavy as I remember. I'll keep an eye peeled. I might remember where I saw it some day. I like the lady-razor comm device. My brain is working on an off-color joke even as I type this... 27.) bluecat - 07/26/2016
