Hey everybody, I know it has been a long drought for me, but am incredibly excited to return to bowhunting after a 5 year hiatus!!!!! I am leaving California and heading back to the Midwest - either Minneapolis or Wisconsin.
I have been completely out of the loop. What are the newer products I should know about or helpful? Thanks in advance! 2.) DropzOfWild - 07/21/2016
Other than the huntstand app that's totally kickin I can't really help out much, you know technology is always (supposedly) getting better, I replaced a couple of cams a 2 yrs back and bought a newer model bow but I still utilize all the same equipment just replacing as needed, nothing's really tickled my fancy!
Welcome back, good luck and happy hunting :hb: 3.) Swamp Fox - 07/21/2016

I'm gonna go over some stuff in the next week or so, so if something jumps out at me, I'll post here. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything too exciting on my end lately, unless it's something like that HuntStand app Dropz is talking about, or some little stuff. There's been some good news in the area of safety harnesses, bino harnesses, stabilizer cameras and miscellaneous things like that. I haven't been paying lots of attention to the big glamor items recently.

Don't worry so much about whats new and the greatest out there. Go with what you can afford or have available. People are successfully hunting with bows back from the 70s and 80s. If you already have the equipment, use it and upgrade as you find necessary. If not, the go with what you can afford, the newest stuff is expensive and really there has been no serious advances in technology over the last few years to justify the costs. My bow is 9 years old this season and it still hits what I aim at. Shooting ability of you with your equipment is the greatest key to success. JMO

For a hunnerd dollars, you can have a harness with some bags attached, for stand set-up and sech.
Everyone who hasn't rigged their own already, get in line, I guess. http://www.huntersafetysystem.com/hss-hanger/ 10.) Swamp Fox - 09/06/2016
Scent-A-Way® Bio-Strike Odor Control Spray is a new ground-breaking patented formula that is third-party lab proven to be twice as effective as any other hunting scent elimination formula available. Scent-A-Way® Bio-Strike uses Nanoshield technology to increase molecular surface area for increased odor elimination efficiency. Atomized molecules attack bacterial & fungal odors, while continuing to fight and prevent odors even after application. A third party lab tested the Scent-A-Way® Bio-Strike Spray formula against leading competitors in the hunting scent control market and found Bio-Strike to be 2X as effective as the 2nd most effective competiting formula.
[...]. • Target More Odor-Causing Agents: Our revolutionary formula attacks odors caused by the seven primary culprits of human scent. Not replicated odors—REAL human odors. • Stay Scent-Free Longer: A single application prevents further odor development in a wide-range of hunting conditions for up to 30 days or more. I haven't tried it, but the spray bottle looks good. 11.) bluecat - 09/06/2016
Not completely related, but last turkey season, Scruffy got into it with a skunk. He got sprayed pretty bad. He was bathed in the Hunter Specialties scent killer. The next day, you could not smell skunk on him at all. I've got a pretty good nose and I couldn't detect any odor at all. So I know these products work. Interested to hear what people say about this.

I use a combination of a homemade scent killer and --lately--Scent Killer Gold,, depending on what I'm spraying.
I haven't looked into trying to dig up HS's test results, but the claims are impressive. Maybe some of our more enterprising members could do that for us. :wink 13.) DParker - 09/06/2016
Scent-A-Way®
It's kind of an interesting dichotomy to tout 21st century technology as the basis for your products when you've given your company a name that sounds like it was decided on in the early 1950s.
Scent-A-Way® Bio-Strike uses Nanoshield technology...
Isn't that what the SG-1 team used to defeat Anubis' Goa'uld armada over Antarctica and save the Earth in Season 7 of Stargate? 14.) Both good observations...though I can't vouch for the second one. Luv2 seems like he would know, though. :wink

LOL...Classic! You need to save that in case we need it again...It works: I saw him lurking this AM, so that must mean fall is just around the corner...Either that or he's bored with filling potholes (but it's steady work in Pa., from what I can tell). :-)

I will say the bag looks intriguing. How much? Has their been any scientific studies proving it actually removes bacteria?
Smoking clothes eliminates bacteria too and then storing in a Sterilite with cedar chips in it also works and I don't need electricity. 20.) Swamp Fox - 09/08/2016
I like the smoking method, too, but it's usually a bit of a project. Getting everything together, hanging it, firing up the smoker, blah blah blah...
The bag with ozone unit seems to run $200. I haven't seen any discounted anywhere. Here's a good write-up on it: https://www.bowhunting.com/blog/2016/07/13/scent-crusher-ozone-gear-bag-review/ 21.) bluecat - 09/08/2016
Get yourself a bee smoker. I have a container full of cedar chips (You can get them from any farm and home store). Throw a handful into your little smoker thingy. Light and good for quite a while. Portable too if you want to do it at the hunting site. One good smoke session will last many trips.
Cedar Chips and smoker for under 50.00. 22.) bluecat - 09/08/2016

I made the pilgrimage to Cabela's on Sunday as I'd ordered some fishing rods for in-store pick-up. That morning I found a coupon in one of the eight floppy paper catalogs they send me each month. Cha-ching! Were the gear gods trying to tell me something?
I figured between the necessary errand and the "found money" burning a hole in my pocket, this would be a good opportunity to check out some gear, including the Scent Crusher bag. It's not a huge Cabela's and it's a good hour away even if you hit traffic right, so I wasn't like a kid at Christmas or anything, but I figure I should power through the pain three or four times a year just because I waited so many years for them to open a store around here. I fondled a bunch of merchandise, including some small Badlands packs, picked up a few miscellaneous items I'd been needing, and finally found the bags tucked away in smallish square boxes on a bottom shelf. Unfortunately there was no display model and the box looked too small to contain an ozone machine plus a big duffel bag that would actually stand up to any abuse. I mean, I know I'd need a bigger box to house just one of my medium-duty bags, no ozone machine included, forget about the tough ones. It was an immediate turn-off, so I resolved to wait until I could find a display model before spending any more time thinking about it. Maybe I'll have better luck at the Bass Pro, which is still a hike, but not on the order of a journey to the Big C. If Cabela's had had them in stock, I would have bought the little cigarette lighter ozone unit for $50 to try it out. One of the Broncos needs a vapor hose which no one seems to be able to find for me, and I get a gasoline odor in the vehicle when I top it off until I run it down several gallons. Seems like that would be a good challenge for the gizmo.
