Do you want me to pick up your papers, mail and kinda watch over the place till you get back?
2.) Swamp Fox - 05/18/2016
How good are you at feeding cats? :-)

As for wherefore am I, we probably need a psychiatrist or at least a genealogist to get to the bottom of that one, LOL.

Here's a blast from the past from English class...Don't tell me you were absent that day...:wink

Just thought I'd point it out. :wink

I do not bite my thumb at you, sir.

(Look it up...LOL)

I've been known to open a few cans of friskies. :-)
4.) bluecat - 05/18/2016

5.) Swamp Fox - 05/18/2016
That has me slightly concerned for a couple of the friendlier ones... LOL
6.) bluecat - 05/18/2016
I was referring to launching food balls, LOL! Well, I've never launched a cat yet.
7.) bluecat - 05/18/2016
Getting close to moving to a new location. It's a log home with 8 acres. It's heavily wooded surrounding. Kinda came up sudden so am in the throws of figuring it all out. I'll post up some pics at some point. I've watched deer and turkey come through the yard as we were looking it over. Can't wait to move. Finally, I can step out my door and shoot my bow.
8.) Swamp Fox - 05/18/2016
Very cool. Elbow room makes a difference!

Where did everyone go? Hope to still get in a few turkey trips before the end of the season.
12.) DParker - 05/23/2016
Sorry, my phone crapped out the other day and I'm still trying to recover from the trauma...though it giving me an excuse to get this shiny new one is helping to heal the emotional scarring.
13.) bluecat - 05/24/2016
Glad you are still with us. I've got several sentries on the look out for the three other members...

What phone did you end up with?
Glad you are still with us. I've got several sentries on the look out for the three other members...

An unlocked (straight from the manufacturer, without all of the stupid "bloatware" that AT&T adds to phones you get from them) Galaxy S7 Edge. I'm still doing a lot of setup (I lost all of the automation scripts I'd created for my old phone, so I'm having to recreate them from scratch) and learning new features, but so far.....very nice. Wireless recharging is the bee's knees.
15.) bluecat - 05/24/2016
I have the Galaxy S5 which is such a huge step up from the S2 that I used to have. I'd imagine the S7 is off the charts. I think the most impressive thing with these phones to me is the quality of pictures.
16.) DParker - 05/24/2016
I have the Galaxy S5 which is such a huge step up from the S2 that I used to have. I'd imagine the S7 is off the charts.
Probably, though I'm still trying to figure out what all it can do, and how to make use of the features. Mostly I got it for the slightly larger screen and beefier battery. The only downside so far (aside from the pain it caused to my wallet) is that it's still new enough that support from the better 3rd party accessory manufacturers is still a bit lacking. I got a good case, but as of yet there's no decent quality tempered glass screen protector available yet (several cheap Chinese ones, but they're worthless). I had one from Spigen on my S4 and it saved my screen from being shattered multiple times. I'm going to be walking on eggshells with this thing until I can get a goid TGSP for it.
I think the most impressive thing with these phones to me is the quality of pictures.
Yeah, they've been pretty good about upgrading the cameras' abilities with each new model...which would mean a lot more to me if I weren't such a lousy photographer.
17.) bluecat - 05/24/2016
The last two smart phones I've gotten (S2, S5) have all been under 2.00. We wait until our contract is about to run out and then Walmart (typically in the summer) will run a special where you get a phone for about 1.50 if you renew the contract through them. It's not the latest and greatest but it's priced right.
18.) DParker - 05/24/2016

Sure...that'd be the smart way to do it...at least in most cases. But IIRC, at least in this area, renewing through WalMart would cause us to lose our $25/line "out of contract" discount, so in my case it'd be a wash in the long run (over the course of the next 2.4 years, at least).

The newer models act up quite a bit, don't go into sleep mode readily, can't multitask and are hard to wake.

Let me tell you: The 28 year-old aerobics instructors are more than twice that much trouble...
23.) DParker - 05/25/2016
One of the cooler set of features I'm experimenting with is the support for biometric-based security. In addition to using a PIN or password, I can optionally train the phone to recognize my fingerprints (up to 4 different prints), my face and/or my voice so that I can unlock and use the phone by swiping a fingertip across a button, speaking to the phone or simply looking at it (the front-facing camera, specifically). So far I've only enabled fingerprint recognition, which works pretty well and seems like the most secure of the three biometric options. But it's pretty cool that what was James Bond tech not so long ago is now routine, readily available consumer-oriented stuff.

As a theft-recovery precaution I used an automation app to set up a script that responds to multiple failed attempts at unlocking the phone by silently taking a photo with the front-facing (toward the user) camera and then e-mailing it to both my home and office accounts. Leaving for work this morning I fumbled the phone a bit while unlocking it in preparation for its duty as a dash cam. When I got to my office I was greeted by an e-mail containing the ugly mug of some fat old bastard in the cab of a Nissan Frontier. :p
24.) Swamp Fox - 05/25/2016
LOL...My Kyocera keeps teasing me with the idea that some facial recognition capability is going on....I keep trying to update the image but I never get offered the option of using it...I have to keep typing in my password before the damn thing will work...Which I really didn't want to be married to some bizarre security regimen for the rest of my life, anyway, but Tough Shiite, apparently...I must have mashed some button I wish I could take back...And everything happens on a little girly touchy-feely keyboard that is way too small for my Trump-sized thumbs to begin with....

One word: PITA...

Couric, an executive producer of the film, also acts as an interviewer. At a gathering of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a staunch pro-gun group, she is heard asking this question:

"If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorist [sic] from walking into, say, a licensed gun dealer and purchasing a gun?"

The documentary shows the group members quietly looking at Couric, each other and toward the ground, as if no one has an answer to the question. This goes on for about eight seconds, and then there's a transition to an explanation of background checks.

The documentary had its TV premiere on May 15. One week later, the Ammoland blog published the audio from the group interview, demonstrating that the activists started responding to Couric's question right away.

In the documentary, Ammoland said, "The clear implication is that none of the group had an answer for that question and was being evasive and avoiding eye contact. The truth is... that the group responded to Katie immediately, with answers to her question! Yet the video shows no one responding."

Swampy sez: If there are no background checks for automobile and fertilizer purchases, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from walking into, say, a licensed car dealer and purchasing a ramming device?

Yeah, that's been blowing up in their faces all day, ever since the original unedited audio from the interview was posted online. Of course, Couric and others involved in the deception are refusing to even acknowledge the offense, let alone atome for it.

I'm glad I procrastinated on posting about Katie Couric's producer being in hot water (or she should be) because now there's another layer to the story. Basically, it came out a few days ago that the dumb bunny was implicating herself and her producer in federal firearms violations as she told the background story to a "reporter" on video. Gushing astonishment that all this gun buying was legal, it turns out that no, dumbass, it's not, as anyone who's not a gun control nut could have told her long ago. I'm sure you can find that video all over if you haven't seen it already, so I won't post it right now.

So now she's changed her story (Had an "Oh, shit!" moment, probably) changed the details and claims the new version was all legal. Umm, "No, dumbass" again.

Here are all the juicy details. Hope this brightens everyone's day. :wink:wave:

Excerpt:

To sum up Soechtig’s case, then: The United States doesn’t have enough laws regulating firearms, which is why Soechtig’s team was able to buy a Bushmaster and three handguns in another state without a background check or any paperwork, but actually they didn’t do that because it turns out that that’s illegal, so on second thought they got a state resident to buy one handgun and an out-of-state resident to buy three non-Bushmaster rifles, and, even though that’s flagrantly illegal too, it’s actually not because the can-you-believe-we-did-this? exemption changes everything, and anyway federal law doesn’t apply if you don’t leave the state and if you manage to somehow convince the police to quickly melt property that is protected by law, and, oh screw it, something must be done! and if it saves one life! and why oh why oh why oh why is the National Rifle Association so damn mean? Or, put another way, Soechtig is making precisely the sort of ignorant, malleable, and downright dishonest charges that we have come to expect from a gun-control movement that never, ever bothers to learn anything about a topic on which it has such strong opinions. It would be supremely amusing if, in an attempt to mislead the public into believing that what is illegal is legal, Soechtig or a member of her team ended up imprisoned for having ignored the very laws that they routinely pretend do not exist.

She has a lot of balls saying initially that she stands by the film-maker and is proud of the film, and then that she was uncomfortable with the edit and should have objected more strenuously, considering that the film will not be corrected and she's out there right now "hoping it stirs a conversation" according to something I read today.

If she and the film-maker wanted to have a baby together, all they'd need would be Michael Moore's uterus. Might not even need a doctor.
