1.) Jon - 01/26/2016
I haven't really hunted my property very hard this year, pretty much learning the deer and how they move before i get into it heavy. As I told you guys, I've planted food plots, set up a feeder and have a few corn piles around the woods with cameras on each one to see what's there.
I've been enjoying the different deer I've seen on camera and there have been a few I've wanted to take if I got the chance. Two weeks ago I was bowhunting and had a herd come right in front of me, the last one in line was this crazy rack buck that I've been wanting to take out. I had him at 10 yards and couldn't get a shot. Last night, the wind was right for the same spot so I sat there with my muzzleloader hoping the deer would cooperate and come through the field. As suspected, the whole group came through a little after 5pm and the crazy rack was with them. He gave me a perfect opportunity for a shot and I drilled him. Watched him go down, only 50 yards from the shot. In the group were 2 other bucks I've been watching, one is a normal 4pt on one side and the other side is a main beam that goes over his head and curves down. The second buck is a typical 8 who looks to be the brother of the buck I call Crabclaw who is nocturnal and rarely comes out during daylight. I'll take either of those bucks if I see them this week. I had my plotwatcher setup on a tree next to me while I shot, here's the video clip, you can see the smoke from the muzzleloader blast 2.) bluecat - 01/26/2016
Way to go Jon! Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
3.) Bob Peck - 01/26/2016
Wow. That sucker has a huge body and yes, I do mean the deer.
Is that the entrance wound through the shoulder? Nice shootin! How much fat beneath the hide? Just curious what has them piling into/through that wide open space? By now, the deer here are very secretive and hugging timber lines and rarely if ever venturing out in the open especially with snow on the ground. Managed to get on the snowshoes yesterday to survey the honey hole property near me and as suspected, the travel corridors are all inside the timber. Cameras confirm they're yarding and if they're out in the open it's not long and usually crossing a logging road. 4.) Jon - 01/26/2016

I watched him drop, probably went 50yds from the shot. He had a very nice 3/4" fat layer under his hide, he should considering all the corn he and his friends eat! The reason the deer pile into the field is because I have a feeder setup another 100yds through that section of woods. They don't cut through the woods because the neighbor has a giant box blind setup right on my property line and they learned quick to avoid that spot. 5.) Bob Peck - 01/26/2016
Roger that. Thanks.
6.) Wild Bob - 01/26/2016
Awesome! Congrats on the nice muzzleloader kill. :tu:
7.) DParker - 01/26/2016
That is a fat deer. He must've been costing you a fortune in corn.
8.) luv2bowhunt - 01/26/2016
Nicely done Jon! That is certainly a different kind of rack.
Funny, on the home page, on the column to the right the title said, "First buck on my own.." and I thought........huh?:wink 9.) JimP - 01/26/2016

i was hunting last year late season and i seen this eagle flying with a fish.. out of the corner of my eye another one came swooping down like a lightning bolt and knocked the fish out of the otherones claw..i dont think neither one got the fish.
i dont no if trapping over a gut pile for a coyote or a fox would be legal but what if for some reason you caught the eagle ..that would kinda suck.. 16.) Swamp Fox - 01/27/2016
Ha! I wasn't expecting that! :tu:
Where'd the "Insert video" icon go on the toolbar? I usually see it right next to the "insert image" icon. 17.) crookedeye - 01/27/2016
there was this other time i shot this duck and it landed on the other side of the ankle deep water. so i go walking over there to retrive it and this owl swoops down and stands over the duck i swear it was 4foot tall if not 5..we where kinda at a stand off..i didnt dare go closer.
18.) Jon - 01/27/2016
You know that owl would have kicked yer ass, it was probably bigger than you
WOW! That was freakin cool! Ain't technology grand (sometimes)? :-) 33.) Jon - 01/29/2016
I wouldn't say it was the last creature I thought I'd see on that pile BUT certainly wasn't even in my realm of creatures. The plotwatcher is still on it, I'll pull it tonight and see what else came in.
