If I did it would probably scare her. I've had it uninterrupted since before she was born, and neither of my children have ever seen me clean-shaven. 'Course, it wasn't always so grey. They had a big part in that.

If I did it would probably scare her. I've had it uninterrupted since before she was born, and neither of my children have ever seen me clean-shaven. 'Course, it wasn't always so grey. They had a big part in that.

I hear ya. I had a full beard for over 20 of the 32 years my wife and i have been together. one day I felt the urge to see what my face really looked like then I realize why god made me cover it in hair...scary! No matter how old your "girl" is she will always bring out the gray and baldness in you. But its all worth it !

Yeah, it did that the whole time no matter how often I tried to straighten things out. Drove me nuts. (I forgot to bring my own shirt and had to wear the cheap-ass one that came with the tux.)

He had already been on a tour through the gun safe, the reloading bench and the array of hunting knives, and still wasn't all that sure of himself (or me, for that matter). He was nervous as hell while asking me, and could barely look me in the eye. But he made his way through it, so I gave him credit for that. It probably didn't help that I kept talking about all the places I knew of on TX public hunting land where no one would ever be able to find a body. :wink

LOL, I figured it went something like that. I'm glad there was at least a bit of fear involved on his part - as that's how it should be!
Along those same lines.... I think part of what's wrong with the world, is these kids have stopped asking altogether. Seriously, I can't even count the number of younger guys (and I'm talking my age, 35 and younger) I've talked to who look at you like you've got a third eye when you ask them if they asked their bride-to-be's father for permission. Damn sissy Millennials, anyway.....

Thanks. I'm still coming to terms with the fact that my little girl no longer shares my last name. It's odd that, of all the thoughts and emotions that I've struggled with these past few weeks (pretty much all the same stuff every other father of the bride has dealt with ever since there was such a concept) that one has been the most difficult to get past.

Did you get writers cramp from all the checks? Always good to get to the end of the evening and see everyone leave in one piece and no major disasters.

Absolutely. The spousal unit and I set ourselves a strict limit of one each, just like hunting tags. I couldn't afford more than one...and you have my most sincere sympathies and respect for surviving four of them.
