1.) DParker - 01/14/2016
Only 2 weeks into the new year and we've lost David Bowie, Pat Harrington ("Schneider" on One Day At A Time in the '70s), several well-known actors you know on sight but whose names you'd never recognize, and now one of my favorites....Alan Rickman (An awesome actor. I didn't even know he was 69, let alone battling cancer).
By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Worvan...he will be avenged! ETA: Natalie Cole and Wayne Rogers ("Trapper John" on the M*A*S*H series) just missed the list, passing on Dec. 31, 2015. 2.) Swamp Fox - 01/14/2016
Ch Ch Ch Changes...
I was surprised no one said anything about Bowie until now. Apparently Rickman was quite something. Absolutely could not stand MASH, but enjoyed Wayne Rogers' later career. Yippee ki yay, all...and I mean that in a nice way. 3.) Deerminator - 01/14/2016
:pray::beer:
4.) bluecat - 01/14/2016
I don't think technically Bowie is dead. He's just offline for awhile.

Care to speculate on Keith Richards' status? 6.) bluecat - 01/14/2016
LOL, wow, just shaking my head.
I do see a couple of shortcuts and shipping routes that I never knew existed. 7.) bluecat - 01/14/2016
I see a line of cars and they're all painted black. 9.) luv2bowhunt - 01/14/2016
You can tell Keith has really been working out over the years.
10.) Swamp Fox - 01/14/2016
LOL...
This is a tough crowd. :-) This is Major Tom to Ground Control I'm stepping through the door And I'm floating in a most peculiar way And the stars look very different today For here Am I sitting in a tin can Far above the world Planet Earth is blue And there's nothing I can do Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles I'm feeling very still And I think my spaceship knows which way to go Tell my wife I love her very much she knows 11.) bluecat - 01/14/2016
Can't forget his other important contribution
12.) DParker - 01/14/2016
The good thing is that whenever I think of David Bowie I think of him singing Cat People...which conjures images of Nastassja Kinski.
13.) bluecat - 01/15/2016
14.) bluecat - 01/15/2016
The Love Boat will never be the same.
15.) Swamp Fox - 01/15/2016
Is that a Titanic reference?
I thought that song was never going to go away. By the way, ten sticky thumbs up for the Paint It Black reference in a thread about death, LOL. Somebody has to clue me in on DParker's picture of the kid sitting in the easychair, though. :-) (after the Farrah references) 16.) bluecat - 01/15/2016
Is that a Titanic reference?
There's a rumour going round that he used to captain the Love Boat before becoming a french multi-million dollar music manager for Celine.
By the way, ten sticky thumbs up for the Paint It Black reference in a thread about death, LOL.
:-)
Somebody has to clue me in on DParker's picture of the kid sitting in the easychair, though. :-) (after the Farrah references)
I have no idea what DParker was up to there. It probably had to do with some rare imported vodka most likely. 17.) DParker - 01/15/2016
I have no idea what DParker was up to there. It probably had to do with some rare imported vodka most likely.
Are you seriously telling me that neither of you slack-jawed.....er....gentlemen....have ever seen this movie? Look, it's like I tell all of the highly educated immigrants I interact with on my job: In this country we communicate in terms of pop culture references (movies, hit songs, etc). If you're going to speak the language, you've got to spend time in front of the tube. 18.) bluecat - 01/15/2016
Looks like I've got some homework.
19.) DParker - 01/15/2016
Damn...another one gone. Dan "Grizzly Adams" Haggerty, age 74.
20.) bluecat - 01/15/2016
Which one?
21.) DParker - 01/15/2016
Which one?
The one with hair all over his face...duh. 22.) DParker - 01/19/2016
And now, The Eagles founder Glenn Frey, age 67.
What he looked like when I saw them at the Las Vegas Convention Center in 1975: 23.) Wild Bob - 01/19/2016
That was one freaky flick back in the day...I was young when it came out and seeing it in the drive-in scared me for life. :wink
I was going to make a joke about seeing a naked woman for the first time.....but I like you Bob. 25.) Wild Bob - 01/19/2016
Hahahhahhaa!
I guess I would have deserved that if you did... with a lead in like that! Thanks for sparing me though. Her naked; now I was pretty into that... I was more focused on remembering that freaky physical transformation into the cat. I'm sure if I watched it today it wouldn't have quite the same impression (the transformation, that is). :-) 26.) DParker - 01/20/2016
What got me was the scene where Malcom MacDowell scarfs down a last chunk of flesh right after he makes the transformation back to human form after killing and eating that girl.

If you have any appreciation for brass at all you have to admit that EW&F put out a great sound. In fact one of the best musical performances I ever saw on television was when they got together with Chicago and did a bunch of both group's tunes. It was Hornapalooza. Yeah, the costumes were goofy. But it was the '70s, so shut up. 33.) bluecat - 02/05/2016

That burlap shirt looks itchy. 34.) Swamp Fox - 02/05/2016
I never could get too enthused about EWF when they were coming up but they had a pretty big hill to climb against Merle Haggard, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, etc. :wink
Now that I'm older I can appreciate them a bit more...I said a bit more. :-) I'll see if I can come up with something they did that I would vote for. I'm sure there's something. Hell, even England Dan and John Ford Coley get SOMETHING. LOL I tried to come up with a White Rabbit joke when Kantner died, but failed, so I kept my mouth shut. Once again, like Bowie, I didn't hear a lot about it on the tube. Kind of a shame. He deserved a bigger send-off. 35.) Swamp Fox - 02/05/2016
Okay, I missed the September video the first time.. I can get behind that.
36.) DParker - 02/05/2016
Old farts kickin' some brass:

:-)
Chicago...even a bigger hill to climb, LOL, but they were everywhere, so it's hard not to have some good memories without them in the background. 38.) Swamp Fox - 02/05/2016
I bet Billy has some Jefferson Airplane stories...I saw him lurking a while ago.
Also, Joan Baez...:wink How's it going, you old coot! 39.) DParker - 02/05/2016
I heard that Beethoven once made an insulting remark at Billy's expense, so Billy gave him a hard smack upside the head...and that was when the composer went deaf.
40.) Swamp Fox - 02/05/2016
All I know about Billy is:
"His words carry weight that would break a less interesting man's jaw." :wink 41.) DParker - 02/05/2016

Merle died today, on his birthday.
"Are the good times really over for good?" 50.) DParker - 04/07/2016
Considering his partying habits of the past it's amazing ol' Merle lived so long.

Oh, and by the way, thanks or making me click on that Kohl's link. Now I have lollipop shirts and cotton candy pants advertisements all over my computer...LOL 54.) bluecat - 04/22/2016

Now that the artist formerly known as Prince is gone there is a question that has been on my mind.
Will we continue to see Little Sweet? Did anyone ever see those two together. That's what I thought too. 63.) Swamp Fox - 04/26/2016

Florence Henderson, 'The Brady Bunch' actress, dies at 82

I never was a Brady Bunch watcher. Maybe it wasn't on when I was allowed to watch TV, which was not often, LOL. It was going to rot my brain, or something. Stupid parents! LOL
If the Brady Bunch aired against The Monkeys or Get Smart or Batman or Magilla Gorilla or a slew of other shows I can think of, it was a red-headed stepchild. Looking back on it today, it was very "California," which was lost on me, although Marsha seemed like a goddess at the time. :wink 66.) DParker - 11/29/2016

You just went on someone's list of undesirables and possible commie sympathizers. 67.) Swamp Fox - 11/29/2016
LOL...Speaking of which, have you seen some of the comments from various idiots on Fidel Castro's downward journey to the next dimension? Obama's was absolutely amazing for its blockheadedness, but Jill Stein's was revolting. Don't get me started, LOL.
However, if anyone's feeling lighthearted and would like to see how Canada's prime minister is getting roasted for his special brand of stupidity, go here :-): https://twitter.com/hashtag/trudeaueulogy?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw It helps if you know what Trudeau said about Castro and just a tiny bit about Castro, but I'll let everyone look that up for themselves. :co: 68.) LOL! Some of those are pretty good. I particularly like memorializing Pol Pot as the inventor of "Skull Jenga".

Up there toward the top for me is praise for Saddam for supplying the Kurds with free mustard, LOL.
