Now that we are in the throws of long winter nights and cold days...has anyone else found themselves in the same situation as me; so who else has revived their reloading efforts? (Reloading for me tends to be predominantly winter and spring effort, despite tweaking loads here and there throughout the remainder of the year.)

Post it up! Let's hear about your efforts: what you've been working on, what you're thinking of working on, trying new loads, new products, old products that are new to you, organizing your space, acquiring new supplies or equipment...what ever, inquiring minds want to know!

haven't actually loaded anything yet as hunting season is still in full swing, but did receive a shipment of 1k 90gr Gold Dots to load in the 6.8 SPC when time allows.

Will need to load up some more 50gr pills for the .22-250 before early April. Them whistle pigs aren't gonna whack themselves, y'know.

Now that 174 gr .312" Hornady 303/7mm bullets are readily available again I'm probably going to revive my effort to see how much accuracy I can actually squeeze out of my 72 year-old Mosin-Nagant. Then I should really get around to using up more of those 1,000 .355mm round-nose bullets (that I got for free with my press years ago) for 9mm practice ammo. I just tend to load a lot less handgun ammo because for some reason I find it to be a bit more tedious than churning out rifle rounds.

I'm looking for someone to stock me up on .257 Roberts. Everybody (mfrs---Sure, that can stand for "manufacturers", if you want)--I say, ever'body seems to have pushed it way down their priority list the last few years. It's hard to come by.

I keep hoping Nocky will make a reappearance around here so I can beg him. I think I remember he told me he already had the dies.

I was always nice to him and didn't tease him too bad like some of you other meanies, LOL...So I'm hoping that counts for something...:wink

I hear you on the tediousness of loading handgun rounds!

I loaded these up yesterday, and the paltry 9 grains of No. 7 powder just felt like way too little powder...(the only good thing was that tumbling 9 grains only goes pretty quick)



But, it is the first time I've loaded XTPs for my .40 so now I'm looking forward to seeing how they shoot from my pistol.

At $1.60-$3.05 PER ROUND (that I've found with a quick search) I'd either invest in a simple press and basic gear (if I didn't already reload) or I'd sell that rifle and find a new favorite round.

And reloading might not even help much, since I'm guessing that brass might be the biggest problem. I've only been able to find .267 Roberts cases listed from 3 of those mfrs (Nosler, Remington and Winchester), with the Nosler brass going for a best price of $1.29 ea (currently on sale at Midway USA)...and the other two's cheaper (~$0.60) cases listed as temporarily out of production. Ouch.

Yeah, that's the dangerous part. I can't double-charge a rifle round...but I can easily do so with my 9mm loads. That's why I go sloooow and double-check every charge when doing them.

Well, if nothing else, they sure are pretty. But you know those are going to be accurate. I mean, it says so right there on the canister! :-)

Well. I'm not selling any rifles, since they are all at the bottom of the river anyway, but I especially wouldn't sell any .257's if I had any, since they were pets.


It's theoretically possible that I could have a reasonable amount of brass accumulated over several decades, but then again, I might not.

I may be mistaken...and I'd research this info - but I believe that you can neck up 25-06 brass to make .257s as long as you have the correct dies.
