Sometimes it's not always about the hunt.
I put this stand in years ago, check it from time to time for safety and haven't seen a dang deer ever in twice-a-year "hunts" for the last 8 years but ... I still return year after year cuz I like the view. 2.) Deerminator - 12/23/2015

Stay out of the wind!
LOL :tu: 4.) Jon - 12/23/2015
Heck, if seeing deer was a pre-requisite for hunting I'd stay home! great picture Bob. Good luck and enjoy the view.
Merry Christmas 5.) bluecat - 12/23/2015
You need to dump that spot and move on to more productive ground.
:wink 6.) Bob Peck - 12/23/2015
This stand is on my home turf in Upstate NY is still there albeit in need of some TLC. I visit every summer when the family and I go on vacation. Kinda like an old friend really.
I haven't hunted it in years but I like the view. There seems to be a pattern developing. :-) 7.) Bob Peck - 12/23/2015
You need to dump that spot and move on to more productive ground.
Funny thing is less than 100 yards away is a fantastic honey hole but it takes nearly 1.5 hours to hike in to both locations. The drag out takes twice as long even though it's down hill.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your view Bob! :tu:
Thanks WB. I'm no Alex McCombie (thank God). These are just cell phone pics. I'm praying heaven looks a little something like this and that I have sufficient creds to get through security at the gates.

We don't get foliage pics down here, beautiful view & picture, thanks.

We don't even get winter here anymore, apparently. 12.) billy b - 12/23/2015
I'm supposed to go to W Texas hunting this weekend, looks like snow again like last year, we'll see.

Thunder here. It's almost like a sauna, LOL 16.) Wild Bob - 12/23/2015
Sounds like its pretty mild weather by all you guys...I talked to my nephew in upstate NY earlier today and he told me its supposed to be almost 70 there tomorrow!!!
This morning we woke up here to another 4" of fresh snow; just to freshen things up for Christmas! Good luck with your hunt Billy, Bob, and anyone else that is still hunting. 17.) Triton Rich - 12/24/2015
Beautiful pics Bob! Looks like the type of place where there is no such thing as an unsuccessful hunt :-)
Speaking of the odd weather, I was doing a little shopping last evening in a t-shirt an hour from Chicago on Dec 23. 18.) luv2bowhunt - 12/24/2015
Nice pics Bob! I know how you feel, I have stands I like just because of the morning views.
Merry Christmas everyone! "> 19.) Bob Peck - 12/24/2015

I grew up hunting in the snow (sometimes LOTS of it, as in many feet of it, as in snowshoes) and absolutely hands down love it. Tracking is a breeze and the deer paths carved in the snow tell a story that can only be told with snow. In Virginia we're usually good for one or two decent accumulations and I literally drop whatever I'm doing in life to get out in it if the hunting is still in season.
Good luck with your hunt Billy, Bob, and anyone else that is still hunting.
Thanks Bob. We close on Jan 2 and I'm cramming in what hunting I can. What a bitter sweet time of year. I've been hunting hard and part of me is ready for it to be over but the other half of me won't know what to do with myself waiting for spring turkey. 20.)
Beautiful pics Bob! Looks like the type of place where there is no such thing as an unsuccessful hunt :-)
Thanks Rich. Maybe it's not PC but my idea of a successful hunt is seeing deer which means I was in the right place at the right time. It doesn't necessarily follow that if I don't see or shoot a deer it's an unsuccessful hunt. The bare minimum qualification for a successful hunt is at least seeing something interesting or learning something. Merry Christmas everyone! ">
Wait a minute! That can't be PA in the picture. If so, then I'll need the lon/lat to verify. :-) 22.) Hunter - 12/24/2015
