I enjoyed the picture of the family more than the deer but none the less, nice job gittin 'er done Dave. You and Luv2 can now start a TV show together. 17.) Ohbuckhunter - 12/04/2015
I'll tell the story here shortly. Kinda hard to type the story with 4 kids on your lap. Hard enough to check in

Beauty and the Beast. I've never told my story yet. I'll wait until Dave tells his, then I'll one up him. "...that ain't nothin'....let me tell you my story..." I hate when hunters do that to you. The entire time you're talking, you can see they can't wait until you're finished, so they can launch right into their story. 19.) luv2bowhunt - 12/04/2015
I enjoyed the picture of the family more than the deer
I would have enjoyed it more if they cropped him out of the picture completely. 20.) Swamp Fox - 12/04/2015

Say, did I ever tell you about... 22.) Ohbuckhunter - 12/05/2015
Here's the story.
There I was sitting 23'7" off the ground on a cool cold morning. Sun was coming up over the tree tops is when I started having deer come through. First it was a group of 5 does that came into the food plot. Since it's the ohio gun season I was hearing shot after shot in the distance. Let's just say some people should sight there guns in. Anyway back to my wonderful hunt. After the does went off up the holler had a few smaller bucks come close and bed down. About a hour after they was sleeping within 30 yards from is when it hit me. I got to take a dump. I weighed my options and elected to hang over the edge and let it drop down. Doing this without even making a the deer move a muscle. Thank god they was up wind if you catch my drift. They got up around 11 am and went up the holler to the bedding area. Didn't see another deer till 12:15 and that's when my buck came down the hill about 750 yards away. Watched him work his way toward me. I knew instantly which buck he was. Jess and I talked about him a few times in velvet season debating if we was going to take him if given the chance. He came in my range and I made the shot. I set down in the stand and thanked God for giving me the opertunity to enjoy the outdoors that he has gave us. Called Jess and asked her if she would bring the knife out of her pack over. Once I told her what deer I shot it didn't take her long to get down there. This year has been great. A week ago I got to watch and film my oldest son take his first deer with the crossbow. We haven't been in the woods as much as were normally. But kids in sports and work says other wise. We're still enjoying the outdoors as much as we can. 23.) Swamp Fox - 12/05/2015
That's great, Dave.
I'm glad everything worked out alright. :wink :bad: LOL 24.) Wild Bob - 12/05/2015
Are you sure it was 23' 7" and not 23' 71/2"???? :-)
Great story, thanks for sharing it!:tu: 25.) XJCraver - 12/05/2015

Poor Jess. 27.) bluecat - 12/06/2015
Congrats! Was the deer swimming when you shot it?
28.) Ohbuckhunter - 12/06/2015
Rained that morning and he was walking through a high grass field I would assume why he was wet
29.) bluecat - 12/06/2015

I always whined back then about not having enough time to hunt and now I regret the whining cuz I have too much time if there is such a thing.
Sorry. I didn't give full details. Was a bow kill. Bowtech carbon knight 63 lbs victory NAP arrows with a shwacker broad head. Shot was 61 yards quartering away and hit the opposite side shoulder. After the shot deer ran 35-40 yards tops. Went back to the house to pick up Jess and my youngest boy so we can all enjoy seeing it for the first time. One the way down I shot a doe with my slug gun. The look on Keaton's face was priceless. I think I was more amped up about that deer than the buck. When he came down the hill he was just feeding. He did work a scrape briefly but was more feeding than anything else. A week before I shot him he was breeding does out in our hay field. Not going to mount it. With the lack of wall space on our little house if it's not a booner than it gets euro mount. This year has been a pretty decent year with trail cams. We have 27 different bucks pics and 22 of them are there at least 4 times a week at different locations. 7 of them over 150". I wasn't going to say this part but I missed a buck a month ago at 22 yards that would have went over 180". Damn limb jumped out in front of my arrow. Thankfully it was a clean miss and he is still showing up on trail cam. 40.) Swamp Fox - 12/09/2015
Shot was 61 yards quartering away and hit the opposite side shoulder. After the shot deer ran 35-40 yards tops.
It's taken me years to get a reliable 50 yard shot so to me 61 is truly impressive not to mention the animal. Enjoy your family for every single second of joy small and large that comes your way as I know you will! Merry Christmas.
