Hello,

I want to buy a friend of mine a bow for his birthday. He is an experienced archer and I am not. I want to buy him a recurve bow, I know about draw weight and draw length, but since there are no good stores around that I can take him to to try a bow out, I have to resort to ordering one online and hoping for the best, so I wanted to ask for some advice on a few models I liked so far:

I want to buy him a decent quality bow that will not break after a short while being used, so would you mind telling me if you think these three bows are decent or are they likely to break soon?

My initial thoughts are since he is an experienced archer it would be a good idea to see what his thoughts are regarding the bow.
He will be able to direct you to the proper bow more than we can. I don't know if there is a way to look at a bow to determine if it will be durable and not break.

BTW, the first two bows were not traditional recurve bows.

That's a very generous gift idea. But as much as I hate to throw any cold water on it, I suspect that buying a bow for someone without knowing whether or not it's one that's a good fit for them (and there's more to that than draw length and weight) a bit like buying someone clothes without knowing what size they wear, or what styles they like. If it isn't a good fit for them...or they simply don't like it for whatever other reason...then you put them in the awkward position of having to choose between shooting a bow that they don't like, exchanging it for one that they do like (an extra hassle when dealing online), selling it or simply putting it on the shelf and not using it. A bow needs to "feel" right to an archer, and the only way to determine that is hands-on. If you were thinking about buying for a beginner it might not be that big of a deal. But if he's experienced then he likely has some pretty definite ideas about what he does/doesn't like in a bow, particularly when it comes to evaluating how it feels when he's actually holding/drawing it.

The first 2 long bows would be more of a personal selection. Intended purpose, Hunting, target, tournament.
The other bow , don't know.

Any quality bow won't break unless it's harshly abused.

Maybe a sweet Hoyt take down recurve.
