Obviously I've been wasting my time driving 1-2 hours outside of town and walking deep into the woods. I should be hunting this stretch of N. Dallas suburban highway:

That's about as nice an 8-pointer as I'm likely to see on public land around here. I know this sort of thing is common in many other parts of the country, but around here it's pretty rare.
