Awesome! I'm extremely jealous!
3.) billy b - 11/10/2015
Way to go my buddy, that's a great buck & you did it your way, congrats to you. I can't wait to hear the story, I'll have more to say later:wink
4.) Swamp Fox - 11/10/2015
Maybe not if I say it first, Billy!
Seriously, though, that is a beast. You might as well hang up your spurs now, Luv2. That one will be hard to top, no matter how much time you have left. :wink Unless you just like sitting in trees waiting for lightning to strike twice, which I think you do. :-) You posted a pic of some of your mounts a while back that I still remember. All nice. Can't wait to see a pic of this one up on the wall with the others....You can make it into a Christmas card next year and send it to the Drury Brothers. 5.) Wild Bob - 11/10/2015
Very cool! Very nice buck Gerry, congrats!!! :tu:
You have out done yourself...if a guy can kill a buck of that caliber in PA; then he's a hell of a hunter in my book! Proof that getting out there and going for it pays off... 6.) Wild Bob - 11/10/2015
What's a 'tea-mate?' :-)
7.) Bob Peck - 11/10/2015
Speechless.
No doubt that animal is a milestone for any hunter especially but especially so from someone battling back from injuries who could have given up but didn't. You planned, you worked it, you kept adapting and that picture is the payoff. What a blessing! 8.) DParker - 11/10/2015
It's even more impressive when you remember that there are no deer in PA.
9.) Bob Peck - 11/10/2015
It's even more impressive when you remember that there are no deer in PA.
Well yeah. There's that. He probably ordered that deer on Amazon and had it shipped in and tied up. 10.) Swamp Fox - 11/10/2015
You wonder how he got it in the Miata...:-)
11.) DParker - 11/10/2015
Does Prime 2-day shipping apply? If so I could really save myself a lot of time and effort.
12.) Bob Peck - 11/10/2015
Just call the boys @ Elk USA. They'll hook you up! http://www.elkusa.com/index.html
13.) Swamp Fox - 11/10/2015
Speaking of which, I bought some ground elk burger at the grocery store a couple of months ago because it was on sale. About the same price as 97% lean beef burger if I remember. It was a little nasty, meaning strong, and not in a good way. I've had enough elk to know that's not how it was supposed to be. Kinda disappointing.
Thanks...you might have just cost me some serious money.
Well then we're even cuz your excellent advice back in the day when I was about to buy an AR has grown into a full blown passion. That single .308 is now somewhere in the low-to-mid 4 figures with plans to build a .223 ready whenever the budget will allow which with 2 kids in college and a 3rd going next year may be never. 16.) Deerminator - 11/10/2015
EXCELLENT Luv2:grin:
AWESOME what's the weight? what's the age? what's the raw score? WAY Cool !!! 17.) Deerminator - 11/10/2015
where's all your arrows?
18.) billy b - 11/11/2015
where's all your arrows?
An excellent bowhunter like Luv2 only 2 arrows, one to shoot, the other balances the quiver. 19.) Triton Rich - 11/11/2015
Holy smokes! What a great buck! Congrats Luv2 on the well-earned trophy.
20.) Jon - 11/11/2015
Gerry, that right there is a MONSTER. Huge congrats for getting it done in Pa where goobers are behind every tree.
Speechless.
No doubt that animal is a milestone for any hunter especially but especially so from someone battling back from injuries who could have given up but didn't. You planned, you worked it, you kept adapting and that picture is the payoff. What a blessing!
Bob, you wrote an article a few years back that I still remember. I think it was called Graduation Day. It struck a chord with me because it totally captured the way I've felt so many times, sure that I had found the right spot and it would all finally work out on a trophy caliber buck. I've always wondered what it would feel like and this year I was truly blessed by the Creator to have an opportunity on an amazing animal. Don't want to write anything self-serving or trying to act like I'm the lost Drury brother, that would do a disservice to this buck. Good catch on the arrows D, LOL. First shot was a spine shot at 30 yards through the thick brush. Had to hustle down from the climber (another reason I don't like them, not to mention the sweat factor gettting up) and get a follow up shot while he was tangled up in the briars. A mainframe ten with split brows and a split g-2 and an extra point on the inside of his right beam. He green scored at 163" and it's the buck of a lifetime for a PA public land hunter. I feel honored to even get the chance at him. I feel like I graduated Bob, so are you mailing the diploma or do I have to drive to Staunton to pick it up?:-) Thanks to all for all the kind words, but where is bluecat? He posts 18 times on every other thread on here.:tap: 23.) luv2bowhunt - 11/11/2015

Slow news day.
Thanks to all for all the kind words, but where is bluecat? He posts 18 times on every other thread on here.:tap:
He's in Nebraska on a hunt with his buddy Andy. (Old BowCountry Whitetail Journal reference, there...There could be a prize in it for the first one who gets it.) He'll be happy to hear that you miss him, LOL.
You have to get out and hunt and not be on HC 24/7.:tap:
Tell me about it. The weather and my schedule have been horrible all season. Congrats again on an awesome buck. Would like to hear the story sometime. 25.) Bob Peck - 11/11/2015

I'd post more of those articles and product reviews but there are some that like to endlessly debate just for the sport of it, nitpick the minutiae and just generally be divisive. I'm getting too old (57) to have much of a tolerance for that crap so I lay low. Don't get me wrong. I like spirited, well informed dialog. I don't mind a challenge or two. There's always room to learn. Always. It's the ignorant and juvenile ganging up and shouting down that silences me.
I've always wondered what it would feel like and this year I was truly blessed by the Creator to have an opportunity on an amazing animal.
I'm still wondering what it will feel like! I have only one deer mount. It's a beautiful and perfectly symmetrical animal (130) but it's the back story not the antler size that drove me to invest in a mount. I've had a few close encounters over the last 4 decades but mature bucks have proven to be way smarter than I. Like you, I don't believe in luck, good or bad. All things happen for a reason and sometimes for reasons we can't possibly comprehend. You and that deer were supposed to be in that spot on that day at that time and the outcome had already been predetermined. This can be said about all kills, all sightings, woundings and misses. It's a message from our Creator and a connection all wrapped up in one.
I feel like I graduated Bob, so are you mailing the diploma or do I have to drive to Staunton to pick it up?:-)
I'll give you that. Yes. You've graduated. From the bottom of my heart, I'm truly very happy for you. I've thought about the potential of that graduation moment for most of my 45 year hunting career. There are days when I feel once I graduate I can finally relax, maybe even semi-retire. We've been talking about getting together for years and neither of us is getting any younger. You've got more grey in your beard than I do! 26.) Swamp Fox - 11/11/2015

Also, the other thing I've learned on this thread is that he's gone from the standard hunter's goatee (known to civilians as a Van Dyke) to the full beard this year...
Still waiting on the story, though...:tap::wink https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_facial_hairstyles I'll leave it up to someone else to dig up a pre-2015 Luv2 pic. :-) 34.) luv2bowhunt - 11/12/2015

How little you know me. Beard shows up every year just before my annual last week of the season bowhunt. Beard will be removed by Christmas or New Year or whenever I get tired of it. I'd show you a picture but am finally learning not to post more on here than necessary. 35.) Swamp Fox - 11/12/2015

Wow, awesome buck.
Did you get it down in this neck of the woods? 44.) luv2bowhunt - 12/08/2015
Nope. Juniata County.
Things looked good in Michaux State Forest this year but decided to hunt in Juniata that day. Glad I did. I set my son-in-law up in one of my stands in Michaux, he shot an 8 pt. opening morning. You could have killed 3 or 4 more out of that stand this year I believe. 45.) Swamp Fox - 12/08/2015
Nice!
You're doing something right. :-) 46.) billy b - 12/08/2015
Another nice buck.
47.) Wild Bob - 12/08/2015
Luv 2 - that is a beautiful buck too, congrats to your son-in-law! :tu:

Gerry again your a stud.
Don't feel bad about the grey. Let's just say I'm getting more grey by the minute. 49.) luv2bowhunt - 12/09/2015

Keep having kids and the grey will increase exponentially. Especially if they are female.:-) 51.) Swamp Fox - 12/09/2015

Grats Luv!! Heard you got a nice one, but couldn't find the thread until somebody posted on it and made it current. PA management does work. Wish NY would do it...But if they did, would turn around and make it illegal to have more than 8 points in your possession.
54.) luv2bowhunt - 12/09/2015
Thanks Jim. We really need you to stick around and post more often, just sayin'.
