Well, I just received notice of the first round of tag drawings for our state which my son and I put in for...
The good news: I drew the archery elk tag that I wanted (which is close to home). :tu: And the bad news: My older son (who does not archery hunt) did not draw a rifle elk tag for any units close to home (I guess it's not too bad, as he can still hunt in a general season unit - but none of those areas are less than 5 hours drive from us). Pulling a trip off to go hit up a general area at that time of year is tough to bring to fruition between school, his other activities and hunting locally. Neither he nor I drew the limited area deer tags we put in for. Oh well, may be next time. Any one else waiting for drawing results??? 2.) billy b - 05/01/2015
I will be but they are not offered until June.

This is PA, we don't draw, we just hunt.
And posted signs me nothing to us, we laugh at them as we walk by, unless we get painted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7pCILPInb4 4.) Swamp Fox - 05/01/2015
LOL...That's way better than watching turkeys beheaded with airplane propellers on a stick. :wink
A little surprised at some of the trespassing-sympathetic comments on youtube, but then I remembered it's youtube. I'm more interested in how the booby trap was put together, especially the bang. Well, that and the paint. :-) Awesome! 5.) Swamp Fox - 05/01/2015
I haven't had much luck on turkey draws in NC lately. For a while I couldn't miss. Now I think they have me on a special "Do Not Pick This Guy" list.
I haven't put in for any deer draws in a while, but I used to enjoy those, especially on land that had just entered the game lands program and few knew about yet. Eventually word gets out, though. Not from me, however. :wink I'd like to see some more draw hunting done around here. We have a lot of public land that is off-limits to hunting altogether, a good deal of it former game lands converted to state parks for the dogwalkers and graduate students in the various women's studies departments in these parts. 6.) Now, now...I'm thinking a perimeter of those booby-traps all around your favorite hunting areas Luv2...hum, that could have some potential.
I knew I guy in Illinois that would stick hunter orange hats and vests up in strategic (human) travel routes several hundred yards out in a perimeter around his favorite tree stands. Say, where is Bluecat...isn't it about time for him pipe up?? Good luck Billy! 7.) billy b - 05/01/2015

I know it's not Pa. class but the offspring are still there. It had some mass. 8.) Swamp Fox - 05/01/2015

Well, that and the paint. :-) Awesome!
There was a story on this in the news. The land owner got arrested. He used an airbag from a car to launch the paint, must have had a trip wire. The sign says something like "Trespassers will be prosecuted and painted." There was a history between the two parties. The old man said he only walks across the land to get to the land he has permission to hunt. The old man's son was involved in the feud somehow, it is typical PA deer season drama. 12.) I just tried to find more stuff on this to go with my morning coffee. One forum post describes the booby trap as a paintball grenade, which sounds awesome and much more up my alley. I mean, can anybody really see me building anything out of an airbag? I'd put my eye out!
The other thing I picked up was that, at least for a time, trespassing charges were dropped while charges against the landowner were filed. Criminal mischief or some such nonsense. ("I got your criminal mischief right here!" [:Rude Grabbing Motion:] LOL) Who knows if any of this is true. I wasn't able to find any newspaper stories compelling enough to read this morning, compared to browsing the internet forums, LOL. That's entertainment! :-) 13.) Swamp Fox - 05/05/2015
Here’s a little rundown from Deer & Deer Hunting. The old guy claims it was an airbag device but there’s no further support for that idea. He also makes some rich comments that may tickle you. ‘I didn’t know” “I wasn’t told” “I’ve been doing this for 60 years” and more…LOL
The landowner may also be a piece of work. LOL Pa. apparently has a deal where if you behave yourself for six months, original charges of this type can be dropped, so that’s the only reason anything’s going away.
