I was at the gun shop today and this was the current scuttle butt.

Apparently Marlin Firearms was sold to some guy that is some how connected to Obama.
Same guy has also been buying up ammo manufacturers.

Also heard Homeland Security has been buying up all the 40cal it can find. Millions of it.

Shop owner just got his catalogs in and prices are on the rise for ammo.
Same with all powder and primers,..everything.

What else was there....OH YEA! A single action 45LC, 5 1/2".....6oo Bucks......I'm thinking on it.

This is a variation on an urban/internet myth that has been around for quite a while now and, despite constant debunking, just won't die. The claim has been that George Soros is secretly the owner of either Liberty Group or it's parent company Cerberus Capital, which own many firearms manufacturers with the plan of shutting them down and selling off their assets. Complete B.S. That is, the parts about Soros and the plans to shut down the companies. Cerberus and Freedom Group are real holdings companies that own several firearms mfgrs...though following Sandy Hook Cerberus has announced plans to divest itself of FG.

Ammo and components (just like firearms) have been the target (pun intended) of massive panic buying ever since late December (think Sandy Hook). It's true that DHS has been buying a lot of ammo too, which just exacerbates the sitution...even if it didn't cause it.

When it comes to gun shops, follow this sage advice from [I]Heard It Through The Grapevine[/I]:
