I just saw a video / notice of a big hog killed in SC by a father and son hunting. I didn't look too closely at it (it was listed on Fox News site), but I hope this doesn't turn into another press / PR fiasco! :re:

I think you mean this one, killed in North Carolina. The story's pretty good, worth a read:
http://www.northcarolinasportsman.com/details.php?id=4814 Estimated at 707.5 pounds. The gut pile and the carcass were weighed separately for a lack of large-enough scales. I used to hunt in Transylvania County more in the past than I do now. The description of the terrain is pretty damn accurate, LOL. I don't know how this hog came to be 700 pounds in the big woods, but I'm not sure that's really important considering the circumstances of the hunt, LOL. It's funny you posted this today, WB. I was going to point out a GrindTV video I spotted last night on my Yahoo home page that--believe it or not--involved an outfitter I hunted with for three years. I saw the headline, clicked on the story and saw a name and said, "There's no way!" but Way! It's the same guy. He set up a big live trap to catch foxes to teach his young sons a few things, and caught a mountain lion instead. The video shows him releasing the unhappy cat from the trap, very carefully, LOL. Of course, the comments section went nuts with a few anti-hunters throwing the usual stupidity bombs, and the usual unhelpful responses in return. I swear I thought I recognized the antis' names from the Muck Boots Facebook page fiasco, but I haven't bothered to see if I'm right, LOL. Just two of them, but they lit the place up (both places?). I can find the link if anyone's interested. The video is okay, but not earth-shattering if you've ever tried to let a wild animal out of a trap before, LOL "Did you jump?" "Yeah, a little bit." :wink 3.) Swamp Fox - 01/30/2015
BTW, I haven't looked at the Fox site. That's where the flame war will be. Not really at NC Sportsman.

And obviously the potential fallout that I was referring to would be in the eyes of the general public that believes most of the shit they read or hear from sources like that. 6.) Sorry, Swampy...I'm grumpy. BS going on at work. :td:

Considering our whip-smart President thinks Charleston is on the Gulf Coast, I'm surprised a lowly journalist got even the Carolina part right.
But South Dakota, North Carolina...they're the same, really. :bang: 8.) Swamp Fox - 01/30/2015

Well, straighten up and fly right, man! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Never discount the possibility that the situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part! :p :fire: 9.) Wild Bob - 02/06/2015
I hear you...but dealing with local politicians. It's about as bad a dealing with national politicians. :re:
But I'm better now. So all is good. 10.) Swamp Fox - 02/06/2015
Glad to hear it! LOL
