...for having published the single most moronic piece of "journalism" I have ever wasted a few precious moments of my life reading:

The opening line is the usual garden-variety stupidity:

"Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe..."

So, I was expecting an equally ordinary bit of propaganda. But the author quickly beat out the competition in their race to the bottom by cobbling together a hodgepodge string of incoherent factoids and then concluding, as a result of what was no doubt extensive and in-depth analysis on her part, that the "5 Most Dangerous Guns in America" are (may I have the envelope please?):

[INDENT]1. Pistols
2. Revolvers
3. Rifles
4. Shotguns
5. Derringers[/INDENT]

So, basically....nearly all guns are "the most dangerous" guns. And never mind the fact that her rankings within this rarefied list were primarily based NOT on their actual use to harm anyone, but on how many of each type were reported by the FBI as having been recovered from a crime scene (including those in which the firearm(s) in question were not actually used in any crime, and their recovery was incidental to police response to a crime). As is so often the case, the best comment by a reader was the first one:

But, looking at the potential upside, maybe she's the one who took up all the space in the budget so the egregious Matt Taibbi left to go work with the likes of Glenn Greenwald.

Not saying that she's better than Taibbi--one of her recent pieces advanced the notion that climate change contributes to "human violence" (as opposed to the violence which occurs when one animal eats another to survive, I suppose, or when some bacteria duke it out with your immune system).

Left-wing lunacy may flow downhill, but it's a small comfort that it doesn't have to pool.

The other bit of good news in all this is for the kiddies: I remember when being published in [I]Rolling Stone [/I] was a big deal, a Mount Olympus. No more. Show the article to your 8-16 year-olds as proof that anyone can get published at a national magazine in Obama's America...

There's hope for all sorts of loons in the shallow end these days. You don't even have to have the skills of a dog paddler.

I'd be willing to host weekend retreats for attractive female anti-hunters and women above the level of Seven at risk of being ridiculed for their lack of basic firearms knowledge....I don't want to see any of these girls bullied.

Maybe I wouldn't host every weekend personally, because I might have to deal with the psychological damage caused by the previous weekend's retreat, or maybe I would need to see the doctor for some vitamin shots...I don't know...I'm starting to see some possible flaws in my idea, here...

Anyway, at least I'm offering helpful suggestions and not just complaining about stuff or making fun of stupid people...
