This just chafes my ass:
2014-2015 Bison Hunter Requirements and Roster Use – Proposed
Require hunters to disperse bison gut piles and other carcass parts. Please see proposed language below. Hunters who harvest a bison shall, upon field dressing the carcass, cut open the rumen and remove and spread its vegetative contents. Hunters who harvest a bison near a roadway or any other facility shall remove all unutilized parts of the carcass (entrails, tissues, bones, hides, fetuses, legs, etc.) to an area at least 200 yards from any roadway, dwelling, campground, designated trail or trailhead. These unutilized parts shall be placed in a manner as to be inconspicuous to passersby.
The second proposed change is to adjust the “cow/calf” roster to be the “bison” roster. Hunters could be drawn from this list for potential harvest of any bison (to include bulls) if prescribed by FWP. COMMENT PERIOD DEADLINE AND FINAL ADOPTION MEETINGS The public comment period on proposed 2014 deer, elk, and antelope quotas outside biennial quota ranges and 2014-2015 bison hunter requirements and roster use will extend through 5 p.m., Monday, July 7. Final adoption of deer, elk, and antelope quotas outside biennial quota ranges will be at the July commission meeting. Final adoption of 2014-2015 bison hunter requirements and roster use will be at the Aug. 7 commission meeting. TO MAKE COMMENT For further clarification, you may call the Wildlife Bureau office at 406-444-2612. To submit comments electronically, this letter with the imbedded links below can be found under “Opportunity for Public Comment” on the Hunting home page at the fwp.mt.gov website. http://fwp.mt.gov/hunting/publicComments/2014/2014DeaQuotasOutsideBiennialQuotaRangesProposed.html 2014-2015 This is the comment I submitted: "Regarding the indiscrete disposal of the gut pile and other unwanted parts: I guess I can understand wanting to mitigate any undesirable sights for the non-hunting population. However, at what point do we help the non-hunting population understand that natural waste is natural? Perhaps some money (generated from non hunting sources, but administered through MFWP) should start going towards educating the non-hunting public of the life and death cycle and that the by products of that are just plain part of nature. The ecosystem is not always on display with pristine views that mirror a Disney movie set. I am not trying to be disrespectful, but I am concerned for our hunting future; where does all this end…to what extremes will the hunting community be pushed to hide the natural activity of hunting?" Seriously. You add value to the conversation. Please share your thoughts. I just inserted humor prior in recognition of that fact. Wildlife Bureau - We take the wild out of wildlife. Bob, the world would appreciate you harvest your wildlife without all the killing and messy gross stuff. :re: 6.) Deerminator - 07/16/2014

There was an episode of duck dynasty where Jase was being chastized by his wife for boning out a deer on his property and traumatizing the neighbor kids.
Jase's comment was priceless and right on. He said, (paraphrasing) "if more people dressed out their deer on their property then the kids wouldn't be so traumatized." 9.) Deerminator - 07/16/2014
how true:-)

It was truly priceless. 11.) bluecat - 07/16/2014

And the Hlatky's can't just go into another room or close their shades or both. I've had similar talks with my wife about it. We had a playset that would have been perrrfect for hanging a deer and boning it out but no we can't traumatize anybody. Two doors down another neighbor of mine processes them and then pitches the bones over the fence. One day some school kids were walking by the fence and saw all the bones. Pretty funny. You can tell who wears the pants in my family. 12.) bluecat - 07/16/2014

"Furthermore, she said, blood from the butchered animals has seeped into her yard and ruined her grass."
Okay, I'm calling bs on this one. What little blood there was probably greened it up. How much blood would there have to be to "seep" from one yard to another? I'm thinking at least 50 gallons. That's about right. "Garcia said that he does not process the animals in a way to attract attention and that there is a privacy fence between the two yards. He said the Hlatkys have videotaped him from their second-story window." Obsess much? 15.) bluecat - 07/16/2014

It must be "behind" those swinging doors where the guys come out with bloody aprons. 16.) DParker - 07/17/2014
"Garcia said that he does not process the animals in a way to attract attention and that there is a privacy fence between the two yards. They had to go out of their way to be able to see it, because it was only visible from one upstairs bedroom window if they stood to the side and peeked into the narrow space between the fence and the side of Garcia's garage. Just think "Gladys Kravitz comes to Texas"... ABNER!!!!! 17.) DParker - 07/17/2014
Oops...sorry...I didn't realize this wasn't a Podunk thread, and we've hijacked it. So...
I think your comment was an effective one, Wild Bob. Short, succinct and to the point, but not rude. But send me any hearts and livers if you're not going to use them. :wink 18.) Swamp Fox - 07/17/2014
I remember the Texas thing from not too long ago...Maybe it's an annual news item, LOL.
My professional opinion is that Mrs.Hlatky is probably a nutcase, and that the whole neighborhood knows it. A buddy of mine likes to retell the story of when we were condo-mates in Durham. I came in from squirrel hunting Halloween evening and proceeded to start cleaning my haul on the back "patio"....really just an 8x8 entranceway to the sunken lower level. It faced the back of other condos about 60 yards away, with the arm of a small pond in between. If you were a kid who wanted to cut between the condos, therefore, you were gonna come mighty close to where I'm working under a lightbulb with a knife and a hatchet, pulling the pajamas off tasty rodents. Sure enough, there were some such kids that night, and they got more than they bargained for on their little journey. I noticed a sharp decrease in little snot-gobblers taking a shortcut behind my place immediately afterwards. 19.) Wild Bob - 07/17/2014
Not a big deal...no issues with hijacking as far as I'm concerned... The thread spurred some discussion, so life is good.
Hahahah! So Swampy became known as the psycho in 3A by the kids in the complex!!! 20.) DParker - 07/17/2014
I remember the Texas thing from not too long ago...Maybe it's an annual news item, LOL.
I've probably posted it before on the old site.
My professional opinion is that Mrs.Hlatky is probably a nutcase, and that the whole neighborhood knows it.
Oh, definitely. That was the heartening part of the incident. Namely, that with a few rare exceptions virtually all of the public feedback was in support of Garcia, and of the opinion that the Hlatkys were/are both whack jobs who needed to just mind their own damned business.
