Im getting my stuff together for my wilderness backpack elk trip this September! I am looking into a new set of clothes/layering system. I prefer predator/asat camo. Here is what I am looking for; A lightweight, breathable quick drying long sleeve shirt. I am thinking either a quarter zip or a hoodie style. This will be used alone if its hot (maybe over a Merino wool t shirt). I have looked into some Merino wool shirts from firstlite, but they are pretty pricey for what Im looking for! Something slightly stretchy would be nice, when it is cold I plan on wearing it over my down "puffy" jacket. One thing I kind of liked just in the store was the polyester Cabelas "Scout" Shirt. It was polyester and stretchy, but I didnt like any of the patterns they had. I want to stay away from cotton, for many reasons. Can anyone recommend me a decent shirt that fits these qualities? I plan on wearing my 5.11 polyester/cotton mix tac pants, unless I can get a good deal on some tough pants. I have hiked to hell and back in these pants, and I love em. I haven't found many hunting pants that would stand up to the same abuse as these. On top of these things I will probably be bringing my thermal moisture wicking baselayers. Any comments or suggestions? 2.) Ventilator - 07/01/2014
After my elk hunt last year, I upgraded everything to Firstlite. They have some high quality clothes, even tho its pricey. I had a merino shirt from them on that trip. It didn't stink after 8 days. I also had merino base layer top and bottom from rivers west as well. My main jacket and pants were scent-lok mirage. Very lightweight and wicks well. You would be pleased with Firstlite and I don't think there is anything better out there as far as merino and quality go.
