It occurred to me while getting ready for my Nebraska trip that I've always been successful whenever my wife sends up a coffee cake with me. So when she asked if I wanted her to make one, I said "Hell yes".

Had toms around us the for the three days we hunted. Except for the one pictured we could never get them to close the deal. We had no problem calling them to within visual distance of the decoys but the second they saw the decoy(s) they were gone. On several instances the birds were less than 20 yards away before encountering the decoy and then it would turn and go.

I'll talk more about this in another thread. But for now...whoo hoo, the drought is over.

Pictured are "Scruffy" the turkey retriever in training, myself and Andy. Andy was the guy I wrote about in the story "The Most Incredible Shot I Almost Saw".

Shot this tom at about 10 yards. He was puffed and strutting to the single hen decoy.

CrookedEye, saw this bigfoot nest on my trip and snapped a picture. He/she wasn't home at the time but clearly that is a nest.

Excellent Bluecat. Way to go:hb:

That's definitely a Bigfoot nest if I ever saw one.
4.) Ventilator - 05/05/2014
Nice shootin buddy, congrats!

Congrats! Can you overnight me some of that cake?...It's between sticking with the turkeys for a few more days or moving on to something more sane, for me...I'm tempted to stick with the turkeys, LOL.

Funny you found a bigfoot nest...I found a lizardman bed tucked up in some honeysuckle last week...I guess they're starting to creep around a little now that the weather's a little better...

I could tell it was a lizardman bed from the irregular shape...If I knew how to draw something on the computer I could show you kinda what it looked like...

Luv2 knows how to do stuff like that, but I doubt he's ever seen a lizardman, much less found a bed...

Nice bird!

Does that count as hunting with bait?
7.) Ar-mink - 05/05/2014
Congrats on the nice bird, and on the big foot nest. You should nail a rack of Walmart ribs to it, and what for the Bigfoot to show back up.

Dang nice bird, BC!! Good shootin'!
